I mentioned this one before. I used to be a barman, went into work to start my shift at seven and some clown had served two traveler women. I overheard a convo between them:

A: Come out tonight it'll be great craic
B: No no he's at home with the bab-y
A: Ahh come on out for the night
B: No no, I'll be bet
A: Sure take the baitin' tomorrow

Take the baitin', solid advice there.

    That’s desperately sad.

They must know that there is a better life.

Where though? It's not like us settled people would take them in with open arms. I refused to serve them for example.

They are treated with suspicion, scorn and fear by everyone and beaten by their own families, where does one go.

First they came for the socialists...

By all accounts reading of such traveller shi*e for years ref Longford it must be a right kip altogether

It's always the select few that ruin it for the rest of us.
I mean it's not a bad town, it has it's down sides but for travelling wise, it's a good spot to be located for commuting.

Hard for them really, Longford is OK really, but still, people are shopping away from the town because of it.
    More trouble this morning.

You're right, the criminal gangs in the states are much more hardened. Travellers would be considered soft and wouldn't be able to stand up to these gangs.

Travellers have a great life all the same , taking over main roads n Dublin for their sulky races . It helps when none of them have to worry about going to work etc and the PC brigade give them the thumbs up to do as they please. Not sure what the ICPSA are shocked about ,travellers are it all over the country for years without a care in the world !

They do it because they know they can get away with it. For all the hard man shouting they can get their tails between their legs fairly quickly when they know they are up against it.

About 15 years ago they started showing up in the Cologne-Dusseldorf area during the summer claiming it was some form of traditional pilgrimage for themselves. They were viewed with curiosity, but welcomed. Until they started fighting, smashing up stuff, robbing shops and refusing to pay the bills.

Then they showed up illegally camping, council tried to move them and were told to fcuk off, police asked them to move on and were told the same. Police then returned with an order to leave, this was ignored, a fight started and the police effectively beat them off the property, confiscated a load of cars, fined them and sold the cars when nobody paid the fine.

They still show up every year, but these days this is their reaction when the German cops show up on Day 2..... they all leave without so much as raising their voices.

Remember the infamous dog story where this shower tried to claim garda brutality - and several people actually were stupid enough to believe the story the travellers told

    well well well

    Your half right.

The gardai have them up in the courts. You only have to read about the multiple previous convictions they have when they are up in court.

Unfortunately the judges will fall for the usual sob story as suspend their sentence.

Would love to see what the sentence would be if a fellow judge was the victim.

    The pubs are all closed.

Has pavee point released a statement about being discriminated against yet?

Terrible indictment of the justice system here that it takes 16 months for that to get to court. Needs to move a lot faster.

This really is the bottom line with them... They know they can get away with it here and try the same thing elsewhere then reality sets in... I grew up in an area with a large amount of traveller familys, some ok, some not ok... But i'd never trust any of them at the back of it all.

I've went to school with some who were academically very good, better than average in fact but in reality never had a chance to reach their full potential... Sad really.

Had my run ins with them too, always found the best thing to do was stand up to them. Never had a problem after that... I've seen people that ran once, they gave most of their life doing it after that... If they smell fear or weakness that person is f**ked...

Those caravans are worth 50k plus

Provide proof of a legitimate source of income with filed tax returns showing how you paid for them or seize them

    Why does this not happen?

Because it would happen to me

He's the most dangerous type of them all, a very clever one!

John Connors is not very clever, he's proved that with some of the stuff he's come out with. He's just lapping up the few quid RTE are willing to pay for his verbal scutter....

A clever traveller will know that the way most of them live isnt the right way and they need to change, so maybe he is genuine.

they respect nothing but force , if you act polite , they view that as weakness , primitive cultures believe in squashing what they see as weak

travellers have a different definition of "clever " than the rest of us

    ripping someone off

    ripping the state off

thats clever in the eyes of a traveller

    +1

That's why they're worthless to society.

    They contribute nothing.
