I think for me the language kinda makes it feel more like a service. Like a thread saying "How long would you expect to wait in the dentists waiting room before 'the doctor will see you now' or you leave and find a better dentist?".

It kinda makes the dates themselves - in that analogy - sound like nothing more than the crap magazines left on the table in the waiting room - that barely help you tolerate the wait until you get the service you are there for.

Looking back I do not remember "waiting for sex" at all. The dates - the meetups - the talks - the time spent together - the get to know you - in fact went by in a flash of fun and enjoyment and if anything were too short and I miss that chase and build up in some ways.

When women set a number of dates rule, it sounds to me like they've been burnt before and now they set a safety rule/boundary whereby they can justify to themselves and their friends sleeping with someone if say they've been on 7-8 dates or whatever the number.

In most cases I'd assume they've slept with someone previously in less time and not gotten their return on investment, hence why this past behaviour influences their future behaviour.

Placing numerical values on a person before sleeping with them is ridiculous and shows an unhealthy attitude towards sex, this quantitative approach is absurd.

In my opinion it should come down to comfort levels, how comfortable both people are, whatever time frame that takes so be it.

A few guys on this thread have said they operate to the three-date rule, or something like it. Is it just as ridiculous in your eyes to set a maximum number of dates you are prepared to 'endure' before getting down to business.
