I did three years in plc college with childcare and Montessori qualifications. Preschool teacher. 5 years experience, work 40hrs per week and on 22,500 gross per year!

As I'm not in my 20's anymore, seeing all these wages are depressing me!!

Edit to add: standard 20 days hols plus all bank holidays in the year.
Don’t feel too bad I’m a reporting specialist on €35k who is thinking of moving to public job on less than €400 net a week.... not sure if I’m crazy or not!!!

I work in position where I get to see how much a large amount of people earn.

Either boards has a very high percentage of the top earners or there's a lot of bull**** being typed here

Can anyone pull up CSO figures?

One thing I'd love about being a teacher would be the hours and the holidays. I know you'd probably spend a bit correcting etc but still

Probably a very silly question but how long does a person usually stay in college for to become a primary school teacher/secondary school?

You can do a four year undergraduate degree, or if you have a degree already it’d be faster to do a 2 years professional masters in education

It's not a data scientist role (although starting to do small things there and I have Python experience), but more a data analyst/business intelligence analyst/sys admin role combination.

Sounds like a BI developer more than a data analyst.
We've some fairly useless "senior engineers" with a degree and a couple of years experience on €65k too.

From my own personal experience and from talking to other devs I know, €65K is a very common salary for senior developers. The last organisation I worked in as a permie, had salary brackets in place and €65k was the max for a senior developer. €80K was the max for a lead and €100K, I believe, was the max for a PSE.

Always going to be an element of that on a thread like this.

In fairness I would rather clean toilets than teach, unless they wanted to learn.

Uuntil a few months ago I had a high level position at a national sporting organisation. Salary 360K a year, rent paid for too. Got in a spot of bother recently though, so had to move on. Got a bit too liberal with the company credit card if you know what I mean.

I'll miss the pints with the lads something fierce.

    Why do you say that?

Those that have cited salaries on the higher end of the scale all look to be very experienced and/or working in specialist areas.

I'm assuming you are either in HR or recruitment based on your comment but that doesn't mean people are bullshytting. Myself for example, I've moved jobs twice in the last two years to get where I am, if I'd not moved at all then I'd be earning about €30k less than I am, it's a job rich market and people that are experienced and can do a good interview are in a great position.

I'm working in Vienna Austria for a mid sized pharma company as a data manager (not analyst), earning about €50k with bonus. This is with a BSc, MSc, and PhD.

I do want that to go up with experience significantly, but apparently my company is hard to get decent promotions/raises out of so I might only be here a couple years.

I'm working on .Net (C#) at the moment but it varies from job to job. Previous role was Angular.

One thing I would mention is that you have to do what you are asked in this game. That can drive some people mental. I've had to implement some awful stuff in my time as a contractor. I would have shot it down in a few minutes when I worked as a PSE but I have to plug away with it as a contractor. Food for thought for you.

Right now I'm employed by a company, but I'm contracted out to a client site. So I have a small amount of experience at contractor work, without being a contractor per say.

Ah hello fellow Vienna expat! Out of interest, is your workplace German speaking, or do you work through English?

Construction, 50k, 50hr office time a week, midnight phone calls, all night emails and a soul destroying amount of stress and pressure.

As much as I dislike what I do and how I do it, I consider myself very fortunate - I don't know how people get by on 20k a year. :(

OP the average salary on this thread is 91k so don't settle for anything less at your next interview.

Also just to let you know of other averages on boards:

    Height: 6" 8'
    Endowment: 11.4 inches
    Previous sexual partners: 73

    I'm only 6" 4'

Get on that gravy train! Degree in Financial Maths here, with PhD in Computational Maths, currently doing a part-time HDip in Data Analytics. Income last year 17k.

Open to PMs with better offers

No offence but that's shocking, are you based in Dublin. Are you a PM Junior?

Its not worth it for the stress its putting you through

    Really?

No - midlands, not junior: in timelines I would be somewhere between intermediate & senior, but here I am almost autonomous in terms of decision making etc.

Being a small company the role is broader than just PM - all procurement, finances plant & labour management would go through me also, for multiple projects

New entrants to my role start at 38k-39k.

    You must have a PhD.

If you do your job well, within 15 years you could reach 84k

In my opinion no amount of money is worth that stress, your practically on call 24 / 7. Hopefully you have a decent commute!

The fact your role is so broad, you would walk into another job.
Not sure about midlands but in Dublin you could expect easily another 20k.

In Finance, 5 years PQE accountant. €110k basic, 20% on top. Its definately about moving every so often (2-3 years optimal in my view) in the early part of your career. First move went from 40k to €55k basic, second went to €72k from €59k basic and third went from €92k to €110k.

Financial services a good place to be if looking for decent salary although I moved out of it recently.

Off topic question but how did you find new jobs?..linedkin, recruitment agency, contact companies directly? Thanks!

Commute is 10mins, that's what has me!

Nice to see some perspective on it though, maybe I need to have a think about what I'm getting out of this. Thanks for your thoughts!

Hospital Pharmacist - 80k- ish (once overtime and on calls are thrown in.) Top this up with some locums usually 50eu/hr cash. I suppose I've decent job satisfaction. I get to help out less fortunate people and have an impact in people's lives (in my own small way).

Cant put a price an a good commute !- seriously though you should really look into what you are doing at the minute. Id start by knocking my phone off as soon as you go to bed.

Also you are in a good position because you have employment but no harm to see whats out there and keep your options open
