Greenland is rock covered in Glaciers. Antartica is similar. Average depth is about 1.5km. Good luck finding somewhere to put that much water. Two days heavy rain here and half the towns in the country are flooded.

No, not at all. Driving's easier on the environment than flying so we went on a driving holiday. Plan to do the same next year. Camping is good too, better than hotels. Never said I didn't drive, In fact, I love driving (not in traffic), been a keen motorist for years. Just choose to leave the car behind when I can cycle.

Climate change has become the latest trendy crusade and particularly here in Ireland where we have an instinctive need for validation and attaboys from our "betters" elsewhere (it's why we soak the worst of this stuff up like a sponge).

Could we all do more to cut down on waste.. Of course! But the reality is that we're a small insignificant island with a population less than most major cities. Taxing ourselves into the ground and living like we're in the Third World is going to make very little difference to the larger issues and won't until the Western world decides that capitalism and consumerism isn't going to last forever.

So I'll continue to live as I do thanks. I don't drive a new car, I generate a black bag of rubbish every fortnight, and I don't worry about the sky falling in no more than I did in the 80s as a kid with nuclear armageddon the threat then.

It's no way to live (especially for kids) and I refuse to spend my days worrying about something I can do very little about.

I insulated my house to the hilt, installed a heat pump and Pv but it means fcuk all in the overall context. The main thing it will do is save me money. It's not going to affect climate change as no matter how much the individual does it doesn't offset what's happening at corporate and governmental level.

You've on the other hand have offered very little bar a link to the government website. You sound like a FG or Seai shill.

I was actually surprised recently when I read that this is the single most effective thing people can do to reduce their carbon footprint. Insulate the fuck out of your house, and install a new, energy efficient boiler / heating system.

On a personal level yes it is but in the grand scheme of things it makes little difference. The vast majority of people in the world don't live like we do, half them live in shacks and there's no way they will be install pv and heat pumps. So there's maybe less than 1bn people this would apply to.
The real issue is the decimation of natural habitats and the destruction of the natural world as well as emissions from big industry. Tackle those and you'll see dramatic change. If you want people to insulate and fit energy efficiency measures tell them how much money it saves rather than how much CO2

Since those who use the term 'denier' seem to be doing much the same as medievel peasants who called those whom they didnt agree with ' 'witches' . Pointing out what alarmists are pushing isn't science (or even closely related) - it's simply stating what is evident. Cartoon logic for sure ...

No actually that is not correct IMO. The scientists I have seen discuss this mater discuss it as a grave problem not a life or death threat.

Yeah but I think what pisses people off here is the total hypocrisy, these kids scram and demand change but what are they doing in their own lives ?
I'm sure they are still taking lifts in parents SUV, I am sure they all have phones and tablets and replace them regularly - as well as charge them daily of course.
