Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Going by the emails people received today it seems there is an overall OOM, not based on location. So I am presuming that, for example, you might be 10 overall, selected Cork and if the other 9 people ahead of you have selected Limerick and if there is a vacancy for Cork, you are contacted first as you are effectively OOM 1 for Cork on that basis.

Makes sense, thanks for clarifying. I don’t expect to hear anymore from this competition.

Would it not depend on what location you have down on your form? For example if I have Cork down and you have Limerick would we not be on different panels and possible different class sizes?

The numbers called were small though. I don't think there's anyway there would be 100+ people ahead of me for my county so I assumed my OOM was national, not by county.

. I wonder is it by county though. If they have a class starting in limerick it could consist of people who applied Clare and Tipperary because they probably wouldn’t have enough numbers to hold a class in these counties alone.

Sorry to hear that. What is your qualification? When did you get email

Software Engineering. There's a lot of maths in it, which is what I used as the basis for my application but they said that they intended it to be for someone who had a pure Maths degree. Which is fair enough :)

Grand to get the experience of more supervised tests under my belt and to have passed them. Stands to me for the next campaign I go for :)

    FYI for Dubliners

This year the potential locations were mainly O'Connell Street, Lansdowne Road, Tallaght and Ashtown gate.

They asked people's preferences before assigning them but I know a fair few people got one they are not happy with. You could get assigned 3 months into the job.

Seems the breakdown is 40% O'Connell 40% Tallaght 20% Lansdowne while Ashtown gate didn't request anyone. Obviously this could be different this time around but who knows.

I think there is an ICT revenue recruitment which might be more up your street. Best of luck anyway!
I passed the test but didn't make it to interviews.

Cheers, but the ICT one is Dublin/Limerick only and I'm not keen on the commute to either :(

The Masters in Software was good enough to get me to interview for the AO panel too though. I guess the EO is just more specific :D

    Same.

Presuming then those who have received the email for Monday week are higher up the OOM, as the initial email stated that candidates will be called to interview in the OOM from the tests.

Not necessarily as they call people in batches/groups. If, for example, they call a batch of 50 over 5 or 6 days they would usual randomised the numbers so #1 could be first, last to interview or anywhere in between.

Okay thanks for clarifying. May be they wait until the application form is received before confirming the interview details and OOM. Still dealing with the stress of putting that together :D

I feel your pain! I've been staring at the application form the past few days trying to finish it!

I had thought we wouldn't get our interview date until the application was submitted, still trying to work my way through it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 55 ✭✭LM4C

I have just submitted my application form. I don't think it's good enough but it's gone. I might get my date, for interview next week

    Yup. Monday week.

Did you have to wait long for the email after you submitted the application form?

Makes sense, no point in arranging an interview for someone who misses the deadline tomorrow and therefore not accepted.

I feel the same, don't think it's great but hopefully I can make up for it in the interview. Did you get any confirmation email when you submitted it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 288 ✭✭BhoyRayzor

Got the email now about the interview but haven't submitted the form as of yet, so it's not a necessity for the interview email confirmation.

  • Registered Users Posts: 46 Internetscour

According to the interview email, you retain your panel placing after the supervised test if you pass your interview. In other words if you pass you remain at the number you were.

Unless people above you fail, then you move up one spot.

Yeah exactly. That’s my reading of it anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 200 ✭✭AngelaG

Anyone below No. 24 will move up one at least as I have had to bow out of competition , got position on an other panel

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 Yer_Wan_1202

Congratulations AngelaG! And thank you - I'm now #60 haha! :D

Does anyone know how many people they'll take on? Like does being placed 60th mean I'm very unlikely to get a job? Sorry - first time applicant here!

Was it Donegal EO by any chance? I know the results went out yesterday so wondering have they started offering positions?

Best of luck with the interview!

You never know, a certain percentage will drop out and a certain percentage will fail the interview. After that then your selected area might have a high percentage of the places available and it might be a less competitive area.

Does anybody know up to what OOM has been called for interview?

I would estimate up to about 100. They are interviewing over 7 days, with the 70 range on the 5th/6th, so if they are doing about 15 interviews a day would be about 100.

A couple of others posted above that they were placed 125 I think but not called, so somewhere between 76 and 125 anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 28 AOHopeful2019

Is anyone else still waiting on an email with their OOM?

Yes, form sent yesterday morning and still no word

Anyone any idea will the interview be solely based on the application form or will they be asking questions regarding Revenue/Auditing?

Going by threads from previous competitions, questions about the auditing process can come up.

Have a look on the Revenue website, they have information for businesses as to what happens in an audit situation. A general search online as well will give some additional info from accountants, bodies, etc. with similar advice.

    It's on the 9th

Looks like they have organised them then based on the OOM, so the interview panel will know we are sitting in front of them in that order

I was just over 100 on the OOM and was meant to have an interview early next week so I don't think its based on that ranking.

  • Registered Users Posts: 86 ✭✭BJG524

Its not on OOM, im on the 9th and am high enough up
