They've been having inquiries since the night he won. Anybody with sense can see this a waste of time. If they're so sure he committed an impeachable offense then vote or piss off.

That's not how it works though. There's a process of investigation and then putting together the articles of impeachment. It would be premature to vote now, given the circumstances.

Want to know how that is bull****? Because if he did obstruct justice then they would have voted to begin impeachment proceedings instead of posturing about it. Its like how they keep claiming he's a tyrant yet they want American citizens to turn their guns over to him.

Except that he did obstruct justice, and they did not vote to begin impeachment proceedings; namely because the GOP refuses to believe the evidence in front of them, including efforts in broad daylight to kill the special counsel investigation of himself and a multitude of attempts to hide evidence from Congress.

chaffetz was sure they'd subpoena hunter biden if they had the power but they cant? my understanding anyway

Nothing would stop the Senate from doing this yesterday. They just want to complain loudly and publicly about the 'sham' in the house.

does doug collins have the power to investigate?

if leo asked the uk government to investigate mary lou (for example) for alleged wrong doing, we'd be creaming ourselves to congratulate him, transparency, etc. is this unique to american politics or what?

Maybe. Around the world, it would be frowned upon but maybe not illegal in all places. It's totally illegal in the States, however, which is where the president from the thread title happens to reign.

and i suppose the follow up question is, is joe biden a political rival? would be instructive to hear that definition

    I don't see why not.

He doesn't chair or sit on any committee so no.

Zelenskyy in that transcript clearly knows he's talking to the king, the pope of narcissists, and he is grovelling and flattering as hard as he can.

    Another 'Orange man bad'.

Well, yes. Trump doesn't like Sleepy Joe Biden. He has nicknames for him and everything. And Warren. That's another one.

Campaign finance law: you can't solicit anything of value from foreigners in relation to an election. Dirt on a primary candidate, much less a leading one, qualifies.

If Mary Lou was running for Leo's job and Leo asked the UK to investigate Lou based on scurrilous rumors I really don't think people would be creaming to congratulate him.

I thought he was the main Republican member of that committee

It's like an extreme religion, this is how they behave.
Trump is their god and must not be questioned.

This is like something off of Tumblr.

    What about money?

I thought he was the main Republican member of that committee

    My b,

United States House Committee on Rules
United States House Committee on the Judiciary
Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet
Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law
Committee on Oversight and Government Reform
Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, U.S. Postal Service and the Census
Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs

He could certainly petition one of his committees to issue a subpoena, sure. He doesn't have unilateral power to do so (frankly neither do Nadler or Schiff, etc. afaik about House Rules)

    What about money?

    Money has value.

BULL****. The Democrats have control of the House. They have more than enough votes to begin impeachment proceedings.

as in any donation from a foreign actor should be investigated?

There has to be hearings and investigations before the vote. You wouldn't order food from a menu without first understanding what you were ordering.

Precisely. That's why Giuliani's assistants were arrested yesterday. They take it seriously over there. If they didn't, the US would no longer be independent and instead would be a vassal state of the highest bidder.

would you let everyone else at the table look at the menu as well though? it seems only 1 side are allowed to do that

so if joe biden was in receipt of any overseas donations, the US government are within their rights to investigate him?

Which is again fruitless if the GOP is not on board or even receptive to it. Thus the raison d'etre of the impeachment inquiry is to pile on more damaging discoveries much to the point where Republicans cannot continue to deny them.

Odd way to look at it, given that for 2 years Democrats have not been given access to piles of redacted evidence relating to Trump. The drama surrounding the Nunes/Schiff memos should have made this point clear. In short, Republicans didn't mind it when they thought they were the only ones that would have hands on the menu - that's when the House flipped.

i wonder does that supersede not being allowed to investigate other politicians

is schiff not a proven liar?

    Yes of course.

Keep in mind the situation has already been investigated both in the Ukraine and the US and Biden wasn't found culpable in anything. Also keep in mind that nowhere in that stretch of time was Biden doing any political campaigning afaik, and he did not enter the race in 2016.
