Nice, didn't realise that The King of Staten Island was coming to Netflix. Unlike The Bubble, it's the unnecessarily long, tonally confused, Judd Apatow directed, recent addition that might actually be worth watching.

It says the 19th on my Netflix too, unless it’s arriving in different regions tomorrow?

It's the 19th. It airs in the US on the 18th and elsewhere on Netflix a few hours later on the 19th.

This looks interesting, Jumanji mixed with Squid Game maybe.

I kinda thought it looked fun alright....but the reviews are absolutely brutal so far..

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,361 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

I would normally be into these kinda movies and threw it on tonight. Made it to about half an hour and turned it off, was turning into torture porn. I may have been harsh and it possibly gets better but it just didnt grab me at all.

Metal Lords was very enjoyable. I'm not a big metal fan but do play drums in a band so can relate to those teenage years in bands. Seems Kevin only learned drums for a month before shooting. Thats very impressive. No big surprises but I found it a very sweet film.

I’m the same. I love movies with games in them like The Saw movies. Or films with random people locked in a building and fighting with each other to solve problems.

I thought Choose Or Die would definitely tick sone box for me. But i was very disappointed in it. It’s all rather silly. Like a poor version of black mirror. Unless maybe I was missing sone underlying message. Thankfully I had gone to see The Batman earlier yesterday. So got sone thing out of my day. Great film.

Finally got around to Sex Education, had it on my list for a good while.

    Thoroughly decent, some excellent characters.

3 cast members cast in the new Greta Gerwig/Margot Robbie Barbie film. Aimee Lou Woods has been cast in a couple of things too. I know it's been renewed for S4, but I can't see it going on much past that, and even then I wonder how much certain people will be in it.

Well Emma Mackey who plays Maeve I think will be gone because it was Aimee Lou woods and one of the other girls who was doing all of the promotion for the last season. Gillian Anderson is superb in it.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,931 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

Yeah, well they wrote Maeve out in S3, but in a way that she could easily be back for all of S4 if they skip forward a few months. But yeah, her absence from the promo was fairly obvious for S3. She has lots of other stuff lined up too so I'm not expecting to see her at all really, unless it's the last season and she comes back at the end.

I thought Mimi Keene was great as Ruby in S3 and could easily step up as a lead for S4, and there's probably enough other characters that they could have reduced time for some of the leads and still have a solid season.

Exactly they gave themselves wriggle room and didn’t box themselves in which was clever. It weird hearing Emma Mackey speak French(I know it’s her native language), when she promoted the show in France.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,931 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

Yeah, her English accent is so English too, like you wouldn't think she wasn't born and raised there. But I guess that's a truly bilingual person for you.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Yeah neither bleed over into each other. I know a person from Poland living here in Ireland who’s the same. It’s like she was born and rared in Cork when she speak English and not a hint of a polish accent.

Good would be too strong but it is very watchable if you get me. Good cast.

Finished all 3 seasons of Snowpiercer tonight. It's a really good show to binge but I did feel like S3 was a bit wobbly. I'm not sure if it was affected by Covid, or Jennifer Connelly was busy filming Top Gun, or if they're just running out of ideas but 5 or 6 episodes in the middle felt like filler, while certain other stories could have used more time to develop better, or be resolved more from S2. Interesting ending to S3, not sure how S4 will play out now. Not sure how having two completely separate storylines will work.

The Trick (2021) (BBC) - When he becomes the victim of cyber terrorism, a renowned scientist must fight to convince the world his climate change research is real.

It's not really a spoiler. The character ends S3 in a way that leaves it open whether they'll be back or not, that's all.

Molly's Game with Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba is very good. Former Olympic skier turns to hosting high end poker games and becomes a target for the FBI.

    True story too.

Yup, based on Molly Bloom, she was on one of the Tommy Tiernan shows too some time back.

Watched the Goldfinch and while it looks great, they never really captured any of the suspense from the book. If I'd watched it never having listened to the book, I reckon I'd have thought it was terrible.
