Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I suggest you watch again. Retallick wasn't on the wrong side of the ruck, in fact he was the AB's hindmost player in the ruck.

The angle of entry was in from the side, how else did he end up on the ground with Retallick on the completely opposite side of the ruck?

I suggest you throw out your textbook.

Have even attached a couple of pretty pictures for you.

Hindmost foot and pythagorus would be needed to calculate the angle Snyman came in at.

If the refs held to the law, which states players have to keep shoulders above hips and stay on their feet, it wouldn't be an issue.

I have to say that haven't heard that law in relation to rucks.

I know they are meant to enter on their feet but if they go off their feet after entry the ref has some discretion as it is a dynamic situation.

I'm disappointed that Retallick is injured but I didn't really think there was a lot wrong with the clear out. Maybe its at a slight angle but its not that bad. Does anyone know if the injury occurred from the impact of Snyman or the way Retallick fell?

    Law 15. 3
Players involved in all stages of the ruck must have their heads and shoulders no lower than their hips.

Some nice play by Australia early on.

Lealifilano starting well. White a threat around the fringes. NZ proving typically stubborn at the breakdown.

    The Australia lineout looking shaky.

    What a jammy try!

Lealifilano looked like he had handed it on a plate to NZ.

    Great from JOC.

    That was.... unexpected.

    Hodge is slow enough.

    Wallabies playing well.

    Shoulda been an intercept

    Lol what a try.

All Blacks look incredibly loose. No doubt they'll come back into it but no intensity from them.

Are NZ tanking or what’s the craic? They look so loose all championship. I’ve never seen them so inaccurate.

Commentary just going to not say that was a stupid pass and should have been intercepted. I actually don’t know how he didn’t.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,816 ✭✭✭✭bilston

    I think that's a try.

Hooper may even get a YC.

Edit - Hooper did nothing wrong

Is TMO on loudspeaker In the stadium ?? Sounds like !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,816 ✭✭✭✭bilston

There are a lot of loop plays by both sides here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,722 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Just saw JOC sliding in with the boot to kick the ball out of ALB's hands, he didn't make contact but jesus that's dangerous.

Argument there that Hooper was pushed off the ball, Reid wasn't running at the ball, he was running Hooper off the ball.

    Tight margins.

    Tight margins.

Think Hooper was just quicker and Reid was trying to use his body to keep ahead. Would have been incredibly harsh to penalise that I think.

Dane Coles....take a bow...that comes from Barrett hitting the line from deep.

The Aussie 6 isn't impressing me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,722 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

    That's definitely forward

Strange they aren't even checking the pass from Smith

Is the crowd able to hear what the ref is saying or is it the just the tv?

Garces letting a load of stuff go from both sides. Read got a penalty while he was in the plank position jackaling

Backwards motion from hand, no issue. Couple of major Aussie forward passes being let go though

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,850 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Australia being hit 10 meters behind the gain line cos their tight five seem intent on slipping the ball back very deep off phase play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,223 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Kerevi just bombed a certain try.

Had a man with a free run to the line, but he never passed.

    Great spot by Garces.

    Elbow to the head.

    Red

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

    That’s a red

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,816 ✭✭✭✭bilston

I don't get why the commentators think that's harsh.

That was clearly a red card. Elbow to the side of the head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,506 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

    Spot on red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,851 ✭✭✭✭Beechwoodspark

    Red all day long

that's absolute rubbish lads. that's how everyone tackles near their own line. absolute rubbish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,845 ✭✭✭shootermacg

Great call. No place in the game for that.

It wasn’t a tackle, there was no use of the arms

How it's even a debate? The third angle was clear as day.

Commentators going on about "spirit of the game"; Are they for real?

That's a soft red, hardly any force, a yellow would have been enough

Shoulder to the head and face with force with little evidence of trying to wrap... shouldn't be a red card??

Yea they’re going on about force.

Have they seen the size of Scott Barrett?

Argentina basically tackle like that every week. don't mind it if its reds consistently . it's like the Cipriani one against Munster. soft as ****.

So the defence is "whaddabout Argentina/Munster/[other rugby team]?"

You're clearly watching different games to me and most of the world.

The consensus on planet rugby is that it is soft. I must not be going completely mad. Why wasn't farell carded against SA in twickenham? Snyman last week?

    NO consistency to this stuff.

There is no force in that.

Sean Fitzpatrick says its harsh on sky.....

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 359 ✭✭NeonWolf

Greenwood just said if that's a red card there are red cards every break down.

He hatcheted Garces too, saying he's at it every game with big calls.

Sean Fitzpatrick the former AB captain?

"It's a red, technically by the laws"- What's the point of the laws then?
