    No reg plate showing, no interior pics and it's a manual. But it has a long NCT to 09/21, is a diesel and cost only €950. Looks good in that colour with those alloys. Worth a call.

    Thanks been for sale for months, I have been watching it. Originally it was asking 3K. Seems to be valued about right now but terrible ad isn't helping the sale

    Wow, a big big big difference between €3k and €950. Ad is very poor alright and for Christ sake what is it with hiding the registration plate brigade? You can walk down the street and note the reg of any car you see. Its out there in the public domain anyway. No doubt if you called him you would get the spheel how it must be bargain of the century because he was asking €3k back in March.

    Octavia's can represent cracking value for money in my opinion. Here are a couple;

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-skoda-octavia/26520172
    2008 1.9 TDI
    NCT 09/21 and Tax 08/21
    160k miles
    Nasty dent on bootlid
    Asking €1,600

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2010-skoda-octavia-1-6-diesel/26530388
    If that dent on the bootlid was too much for you to handle or you would rather the facelift model
    2010 1.6 TDI
    NCT 02/21
    178K KM
    Asking €1,950.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,569 ✭✭✭2ndcoming

    278km on that second one. A lot of them are dog rough or high mileage, given the usual driver profile that not unexpected. Ex taxis / farmers.

    If you could find a fresh low mileage 08 or 09 1.9 it would be a great yoke, same with the Superbs.

    Probably what the last seller told them. I guess it desperately needs changing now!

    278k km ain't of the charts either though. I'd sooner go for a well cared for 278k well maintained one than a poorly maintained 139k km one or one with even lower mileage owned by Mary since new only go down to the local shops and mass as Gerry her out of touch old timer mechanic told her it was the only way to go back in the day as she would be getting the chape tax.

    Not saying that one has or hasn't being well maintained, as always a good nosey around one will tell a lot. Agreed though, a very fresh 08/09 1.9 makes a great buy but you will struggle to get a spotless one into this thread just yet.

    Bit presumptuous to assume dented boot lid automatically equal water ingress, mould and goosed rear wiper. Any post 08 diesel in this price range will have flaws. Better maybe that the flaws are immediately apparent. As always a look at the car will tell a lot. If its not what you would have hoped for then you can always walk away. Without being a VW expert though I was thinking all them were belts all the way alright.

    The goosed wiper has nothing to do with the dent in the boot, which by the way looks like it is inviting water into the boot.

    Anyway.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ford-focus-1-4-lx-nct-12-21-tax-12-20/26509074?campaign=3
    2003 Focus 1.4 5dr;
    115k miles;
    Tested until 12/21
    Asking €795

    These wouldn't be my first choice of car. Sluggish and heavy on juice but I would drive it and ideal for someone doing small local mileage who want something cheap and ready to go, with a dollop of tax, without having to worry about test for a good long spell.

    Seems he's the 4th owner, as he bought it two months ago in a private sale (as opposed to transferring it to his dealership). Tax is due this month. For €795 I'd take the "just serviced" with a pinch of salt.

    2008 Civic Hybrid

    Looks to be a decent car with long NCT and service history. Safe to assume, given the mileage that the hybrid batterys are knackered but still useable and cheap to tax.

    Does it count when its over €2k but the remaining tax brings it under the magical €2k threshold? ;)

    2006 Mercedes S320..... Surely the ultimate bangernomic/luxobarge combination.

    And it’s not even taxi tax, it’s the good stuff.

    I see it changed owners back in Mid September.
    Your own car E36Ross? See you mentioned over in the Luxobarge thread recently that you have a 06 S Class for sale. I think its probably fair to say some more disclosure is required here.

    the sellers name is Ross so full disclosure is definitely required.

    I think most will have figured that one out to be fair. I was more meaning full disclosure about the change of ownership back in Mid September but anyone entering their own car into the thread here should as a matter of course make note of the same, it may go unnoticed to some.

    Dinky little Charade with plenty of NCT and tax for €550. If its not burning oil, you cant go wrong.

    Even if it is, you cant go wrong. Classic chod. Bonus for it being purple.

    Needed a car for a few months..... (My Pajero was off the road getting welding done)

    Always loved that shape S Class (Eventually want a W220 S500) Bought one with tax and test because why not? (It was a toss up between this and an ST150 Fiesta)

    Still driving it daily, If it sells it sells if not there'll be a fresh NCT on it in Jan to make it an easier sell and I get to enjoy an S Class for another few months. :)

    Come bring a mechanic, I'll even organise a lift if you want to view it.
