Everyone knows putting some words in capitals makes you more intelligent and improves your argument.

Thats why such luminaries as those who write for the sun do it.

A bit of respect for a man and his family at this time is what is required.

Anyone who has had to be at the side of a seriously ill and dying relative will know what I mean.

    Leave it out for now.

Nurses, alright, but what do we need five new soldiers or sailors for? Anyone I know in the Defense Forces is just on the doss the whole time.

I have/had no time for the man but have a bit of fücking respect. How would like some one speaking in the same manner about your father/brother?

No matter who gets sick (politician, celebrity) there will always be one lowlife who starts a thread badmouthing that person.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,211 ✭✭✭✭ILoveYourVibes

He has been out of public life for quite a while and is now dying.

My uncle died of a brain hemorrhage its a very violent way to go.

I think we can afford to be generous. Whatever your position you are a lot more fortunate than Brian Cowan right now.

I wish him well, the crash was a global one, there were a lot more Irish people behind the crash than Brian Cowen. Don’t get me wrong I know he made mistakes, but the bankers duped him too. The Anglo boys caught on tape seemed like awful bastards though, laughing about their own antics and the I.M.F., etc.

Sadly that is the world we live in today bloody snowflakes. If he were still fit and healthy ( not that he's ever been that way) half the people here in this thread would have no problem criticising him.

He had his flaws and was arguably promoted beyond his ability but that is the nature of our political system. Few have ever been elected to the the Dail who would ever be considered for a senior management position in a multinational. Yet they are somehow expected to be able to run the country. However I never once felt Cowen wanted anything but the best for this country. When you look at the leaders now both here and abroad that is an increasing rarity. He tried his best but he inherited problems (first in Finance and later in the Taoiseach's office) that would have broken anyone and sadly it seems they broke him.

I wish him and his family all the best at this difficult time.

Question for yourself and the person you quoted: Did you see the OP before it was deleted by mod? There’s no need for that type of post.

Guys a brain hemorrhage is basically a continuous stroke for hrs or days until the poor person passes away.

    Its HORRIBLE.

I will never forget my Aunt describing it to us she was with her husband every minute.

It was very traumatic for her to see particularly in the hour before the ambulance came.

He bled from his nose and looked like he was having a seizure. But its a long stroke.

Its basically one long stoke until the person passes. Its very painful.

You have the initial incident then the hospital time.

40% of people die the rest are left with very severe damage.

My aunt was traumatized FOR MONTHS after it happened. She had nightmares and couldn't go into the room where it happened.

I would not wish this on my worst enemy.

If he survives his life will never be the same.

I wish him and his family every love and support. They are going to need it.

Met him once at an event (nothing to do with politics), very charming man, very witty and enthralled us with superb voice mimicking of various politicians.

Another great story was his conversation with a westminister lord about their respective "estates" - after pow wowing for an hour and listening to his lordship talking about his hundreds of acres and hunting grounds and Cowen answering back in his grandest British accent regarding his "estate", the lord finally asked what size estate Cowen had

In deep Offaly accent, Cowens reply was 12 acres of bog in Clara.

    Comic genius

There was a rumour going around people you'd expect to know that he died the day it was publicised that he was ill. The media weren't going to announce it until his family were informed was the story. It was bollocks though.Very weird.

He wasn't directly responsible for the crash, that was set up by Bertie Ahern who left office just as he seen the dark clouds on the horizon and Brian was left with the baby, bathwater and the banks, history will be kind to him I'm sure,

    not a FF supporter btw

I wish him and his family well

Jesus H ILYV, this is nearly as bad as what the OP was. Nobody connected to Brian Cowen or otherwise who has a family member suffering from such an affliction would be in the better for reading this.

He was the one who was handed the reins as soon as it became evident that the crash was about to happen. Bertie Ahern came out smelling like roses but history won't be kind to him. Just look at Charlie Haughey!

It's not weird. Not with a brain hemorrhage.

I am not supposing about this particular case.

But you can have Brain death. Or some of the factors of brain death like aponea.

That's what happened to my uncle.

He had a long stoke. Then was partially brain dead for along time. :(

I may not agree with a lot of politicians in this country but I disagree with them on issues that have nothing to do with them personally.I heard less than parliamentary language about two prominent politicians at the weekend including being referred to as "the antichrist". I mean I've never met Brian Cowen but I'd never wish ill of the guy. I mean politicians have families who are affected but this stuff.

Never heard of don't kick a man when he's down? Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that every situation is a time to voice said opinion. The nasty comments effect his family & friends at a very difficult time for them.

He wasnt parachuted in from Mars to takeover from Bertie. He was Minister for Finance and was the one who opened the taps into that bath.
Instead of preparing for the worst when the inevitable downturn came he left us defenceless. Whatever talents as a politician they were put at the service of FF not Ireland.

But Biffo didn't have to run for leader! He could have left it to one of FF's brighter stars, like Willie O'Dea or Eamon O'Cuiv!

Yes you absolutely can have an opinion on someone if they're not fit and healthy - don't be hysterical. You can just be a non **** about. I recently criticised both John McCririck and the human rights lawyer (the plane escapade) when they died. No prob whatsoever with it.

Also, some people seem utterly incapable of using the term "snowflake" correctly.

See below for an example of how not to be a ****. And note that the writer of it was not reprimanded in any way. I suggest growing up.
