Where did you get that image oneiric?

Big black sky moving in overhead here from the southeast.

Good site for high res Atlantic/Euro sat imagery.

Classic summer evening here now. Orange clear sky to the NW with ominous stratoform the the SE. The contrast between the two is creating an extra sort of weird glow to the twilight.

The stuff that came over Arklow is all high based, dry again now,you wouldn't cream your tea with what fell
Serious need for rain now locally

We went from drought to flood during this month. Only a matter of time before the same occurs for you. A negative NAO (which looks like continuing for a good while yet) may swing Atlantic lows further south during August as they (normally) gain just the slightest bit of oomph.

    Thanks. Interesting.

Where’s the link for these stats?

I just pulled them quickly from Met Eireann as a brief example.

They are interesting stats. Mad to see Cork has nearly had as much rain already this year up to July (over 600mm) as Dublin normally averages in a year (700mm).

Meanwhile not the really wet start to the day here in north Dublin that I was expecting. Ground still dry, isn’t it supposed to be very wet today?

I've only recorded 299mm so far this year by comparison near Arklow
    Only 22.1mm in July
Those thunder showers south of greystones better head here and more grow or we'll go up into an enormous ball of dust altogether

Very odd. We had a fair drop of rain overnight last night here. More than I would have expected from this system to be honest, but still does not feel any fresher today. Showers will continue in the east today though, so you might see something yet.

    Pissing rain and thunder. D15

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,045 ✭✭✭Elmer Blooker

Thunder to the west, showers developing over land now and moving down from the north so no point in looking at the Irish Sea now on the radar.
Edit: fair play to Met E - they got it right in the end with their forecast of thundery showers in the east!
