Just got an email from game UK saying they will have more stock late tomorrow morning, maybe this will be the same for other stores aswell

Must be the extra batch Sony promised last weekend. Wonder will other stores get the same.

Website ended up with a queue of people logging into their Game UK accounts to update details. Mine were wayyyy out of date. If anybody uses PM, PW or AP then I suggest upgrading your liability for a few quid extra for when it is due to ship.

Other places will have it yes on the 19th. And they will be sold out within 1 or 2 hours.

The amount of pre orders a Gamestop and the fact they are already telling people they might not get one before Christmas is not a good sign.

Retailers will probably get some more stock before Christmas but they will be gone as soon as they advertise them.

There won't be any on shop shelves if that is what you are getting at.

I have it preordered, but FWIW I've managed to buy every console of the last decade or so on day 1 or within a week of it without preorders, usually by walking into places like Tesco, PC World or Argos, rather than gaming specialist retailers.

I wouldn't be surprised if anyone who really wants one and missed the preorder rush will be able to find one well before Christmas when physical stock starts coming in if they look hard enough.

I recevied an email from GAME earlier saying they have a limited number of pre-orders going up tomorrow 'late' morning. It might be worth a try for those who are happy to order via parcel motel.

I wouldn't rely on them to deliver on release day, pre ordered fifa 20(unfortunately) with them and it arrived about a week and a half after release .

Yeah gaming has in fact been getting cheaper and cheaper every year when you account for inflation - N64 games retailed at $80 which would be well over a hundred these days.

While prices have gotten cheaper / stayed the same, dev costs have gone up and up and up. Things like microtransactions and special editions have been the main thing keeping game development profitable in many cases.

So I'm not surprised to see game prices rising. But it may not be sustainable if Microsoft look to be offering a superior value proposition, which they currently are.

A race to the bottom on retail prices could end up looking like the app store on mobile though, it's not necessarily in consumer's best interests if developers can't rely on prices that justify AAA dev costs and end up having to cut corners on development and also go harder on in game transactions.

Smyths, like last time, failed to mention that this means lunchtime on a nightshift. :pac:

    Silly question time

When they say 'click & collect', do you get to specify which store you want to get it from?

Or would you need to go to Dublin city centre?

Yes. From the tweet, "This round of pre-orders will be limited to online only (Home Delivery and Click & Collect)."

Yupp, you get to choose a specific store. You just can't call in to your local shop tomorrow and preorder from there.

I see twitterers asking for exact time. I think if they did that, the site is guaranteed to crash. I'd recommend pressing F5 from about 10am and checking on here as well in case they go earlier.

Loads of people complaining about the series X today that their order was just suddenly cancelled

Hope they get it together for tomorrow.... if wouldn’t be happy if I managed to bag one and then lose it, especially if went and traded in the PS4

My logic doesn’t suggest that at all. You are being deliberately disingenuous now.

There are disks, software, entertainment etc that have been produced for decades, serious resourcing in terms of development, testing, production etc that would dwarf that of a PS5 game and that retail at a fraction of the cost...

Games for the PS4/PS5 sell and will sell in their millions....

FIFA ‘17 sold 10.03 million copies approximately on the PS4 alone.

If the average retail price globally was in the region of 55 euros.

That’s hundreds of millions in revenue....550,000,000 euros from one game. The cost of design, development has to be a fraction.

Anyone who thinks they'll be able to walk into any store after the 19th and pick this up is talking rubbish. No chance.

No charge when ordering, money comes off the card either day before or day of launch.

FYI, make sure yer Smyths account looks up to date, passwords reset if needed, make it as easy as possible tomorrow.
