    As an aside

Did I read it here but can a box be flashed directly from the server now?

Menu-setup - vix -image manager -yellow button and then choose the image ?

Never tried it that way but does it work OK just to update an image to latest version?

Yes its the new way you flash boxes but need a mounted hdd or usb .

Been doing that for years as no idea where the old usb sticks are now.

Yes , works very well , uses some of the HDD that is installed to create slots , and away you go , it takes less than 5 minutes and works beautifully , no more messing about with USB sticks , very nice , also very essential as small USB sticks that can be formatted to fat32 are very hard to find these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,990 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Yes the amount of 8gb sticks i bought.

A belated update. I got my fiber internet back and I did tryout some software configurations. Nothing worked unfortunately.

But in the end, I called an satellite repairman and it turned out it was a slight misalignment. All signals are now 99 percent now and terrestial 70+.

It was the angle of the LNB to the the dish that caused ITV to be off.

Thanks a lot though for all the suggestions!

For anyone that is using client mode - does your slave box have the bouquets from the master box.

Trying to set it up but it just seems to have pulled in the channels but not the bouquets. Picture might explain better

Should I just try delete and start again? ( or go back to sky and stop frying yere heads!)

Both boxes on openvix 6.6.013 using simple 1080.

Both boxes connected using powerline adapters.

have you tried pressing the blue button

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 534 ✭✭✭cathy427

Thanks. I did. This is what I have when press blue

    Then

Edit. When I press manual it says no active epg sources found nothing to do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,834 ✭✭✭swoofer

I cant do a test run until later but its possible you cant import the favourites. On the guide, which is old, it makes no mention of importing favourites.

And have you a big stack of favourites in the host box??

Do a little recap of the number of channels you want to watch in kitchen.

and what do you get when u press epg button in the kitchen box?

Thanks. I actually don't have anything in the favourites folder.

I just added the saorview channels to the top of the all channels bouquet and have them all in one list.

The slave box didn't pull any of the bouquets at all.

I was trying the settings after pressing blue above and restarted the GUI. It said then it encountered an error and needed to restart again.

It's stuck now with the home page of openvix on tv screen and 49 on the screen of the box. This happened last night as well and it came OK after about 45 minutes ....

Will take a pic of what comes up when press epg once the box comes right again.

    Edit.

This is what comes up when I press epg

oops when I say favourites I mean bouquets and I often refer to favouritres folder as in bouquets!! what happens when you press epg button.

Swoofer - bear with me. I think it was the way I had things set up on main box.

Did a rescan on the channels and seems to be working now. ( well can't watch saorview on both boxes)

But the layout on main box seems to have been the issue.

So so sorry for wasting your time

Do you have ABM setup on master box and if not it needs setting up first.

A restart of slave box should import channels and ABM listings and EPG .

When on a channel press the upper or lower button to show All channels and then Blue button to gain entry into The Bouquets .

If tvs have a Saorview tuner its worth setting up also because if recording on master it wont work on slave. My other Tvs have a splitter for cable Saorview to split its signal which is handy at times.

    TThanks!

Had just got there. Had ABM set up but it was half set up when got the box so did a new clean set up there earlier and all good now.

Sorry I know you said before can you remind me how to set up to access the recordings from master box on the slave box.

    Thanks again.

I use on all my boxes Samba and Nfs

Go into Network - Mounts and Network Browser scan boxes on your network.

If you see the other box or boxes go into each one and yes for saving this mount be it USB or HDD.

I dont bother putting a name or password on box your choice.

When saved and you exit our Files list or PVR button should show your recordings on that device.

If you had 4 boxes mounted and all had recordings YELLOW button to go to other boxes listed and okay to view it or exit out.

As your importing data from MASTER box you might only need to use the File list or PVR button on remote.

    Everything okay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 534 ✭✭✭cathy427

    You are too good. Thanks.

Ya, after typing out the question I could see what my little error was - made a silly mistake.

But - client mode working and have access to recordings so all ace.

    Thanks to everyone.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of old network shares on these boxes?
I have two, an Zgemma H7S and an Edision OS Mega and both are showing old network shares when I check "Box Info" in Webif.
    Any info appreciated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,990 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Menu -setup- Network -mounts - mount manager-Mount points management -select and yellow to delete mount

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 886 ✭✭✭peking97

Funny enough that worked for the Edision but not for the Zgemma and both boxes are on OpenVix 6.6.005. Strange….any other ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,990 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I am also on OpenVix .

Do you get a list of mounted boxes on network and ip is correct , older ips i had to delete.

I do it with remote for that box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 886 ✭✭✭peking97

When I go into Setup>Network>Mounts>Mount Manager the list is empty yet when I use Webif and choose "Box Info" it shows a number of (old) network shares…..and Yes I do get a list of boxes and their correct IP's when I scan.

Yeah I did click on Mount Points Mgmt. but the strange thing is it doesn't show any. Just an empty list!

Do you happen to know where these mount points are stored on the HDD?…perhaps I could delete them from there?

…further info later added…..I ended up re-flashing the same image and behaviour now normal..Thanks for the help/info.
