Yeah that's what I thought it was. Whoever it was on AEW always has it at the shoulder so must get regular treatment

The Firefly Funhouse match at Mania was the absolute drizzling ****s

Randomly came across an old wrestling show on YouTube. It's 'NWA Mid Atlantic Wrestling 5/17/86'

It's gas. The amount of fast food adverts is insane. Just like today's American TV. But the show has the main event of Ricky Morton vs Ric flair for the NWA title. None other than Earl Hebner is the ref.

It's true what they said about the rock and roll express tho. They were rockstars with the reaction. All the women going wild.

The match itself is good. The crowd are hot. Like white hot. Wrestling is not like that anymore.

Some of those ads are hilarious now, all the real working joes in the Red Man chewing tobacco ad in particular.

I love watching a great crowd, really elevates the match

Totally agree. A great crowd elevates the match.
For some reason we don't see that in today's Wrestling tho.

Faces in phones is a major one. You can see it on any broadcast.

I'm always amazed at how big Billy Gunn actually is.

I've know for years he is a big dude however still in my mind he is just a 6ft'r not a 6ft 5 guy.

    ?

Can't find anything other than ****e hawk sites saying his contract his expiring.

Given the way he's been positioned and how HHH/HBK view him I'd be amazed if he walks away.

Nothing will ever be more cringe than Cody Rhodes making his entrance entirely about Triple H by whacking a throne with a rubber hammer while an audience of WWE Network subscribers applauded.

NFL franchise owners and billionaires the Khans buy up the XFL while it’s in bankruptcy.

since AEW started the contradictory nature of fans has been really showing so much like on both sides

then both sides saying the other is much worse then them really reminds me of when i see united/liverpool fans arguing

Fans are contradictory because wrestling is contradictory.

Cody Rhodes before Double or Nothing 2019; "I am going to kill the Attitude Era."

I've a wwe network subscription and an aew plus thing on fite. Watch both you know why? Cause I like wrestling. I dont get the hate off idiots arguing about which is better. Does it really matter just enjoy it? Right now I'm watching more aew cause i find it more entertaining at the moment. But jaysus wrestling fans would do your head in.

Macho man should have been the bigger star between him and hogan. Just watching his collection on the network. He had it all

Hogan will go down as one of the greatest but i think he had massive pull back in the 80s/90s and called the shots with most of it for his gain .WCW made a mistake given him creative control

a lot of guys like Savage could of been even bigger if it wasant for that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,238 ✭✭✭✭B.A._Baracus

It is said that Hogan in the 80's and early 90's was the golden goose. It was basically like WWF had a US dollar mint printing machine at Titan towers promoting and merchandising him.

Savage was a bonafide star too. Just that Hogan was around. So no Savage being the main man.
I remember watching the YouShoot with Jim Duggan and he said right - that the era (80s) just was the right time with the right guys. Everyone was a superstar and over.

Ted Dibese could have been a great heel champ to go back and fourth with Hogan.
Rick Rude could have been champ. Even Mr Perfect. But I guess when you have the money making power of Hogan you can't help but book him as the man over and over again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Hogan had truely great heels to work with to be the babyface merch selling machine that he was and also they built the money/payoff matches over the course of a six months to a year with great slow builds so by the time Hogan posed the crowds were read hot.

Piper, Andre, Macho, Dibiase, Slaughter, Sheik even throw in the babyface vs babyface with Warrior.

Hogan rarely faced the same person again once he beat them it was on to the next six month build.

Now a days those money matches have 4 week builds and the same matches happen repeatedly threw out the year.

    Agree.
Your last paragraph is really true too. Man... I'm gonna say it and modern wrestling sucks.

Like what was the last real "old school" way of booking and hyping a match? Cena Vs rock at mania?

I'd say that modern WWE sucks, there is still some excellent pro-wrestling around.

Yes, he should have been and you're right he had the whole package. Even, his first title win at wrestlemania IV hogan couldn't even let him win it without overshadowing the moment. I know the person outside the character shouldn't matter but to me it does and that's why I ****ing hate hulk hogan.

I know macho man was intense and was paranoid about his wife(can't say I blame him with lust hogan around) but I don't think he was an out and out asshole.

And I know people will say that without hogan that pro wrestling wouldn't be where it got to, but vince was going to expand regardless with or without hogan.

The iron sheik was right about hogan.

We seem to be seeing a good few WWE guys jumping ship to AEW in the past year, if this was to follow a similar pattern to WWE v WCW , who would you envision would jump the other way in the next few years.

I reckon The Elite is out, maybe with exception of Page.

The Inner Circle will be fair game about the jump although Jericho seems to be enjoying himself, but would be a big coup coming in together.

D'arby Allin another one, building up a big cult following.

Scorpio Sky another possibility, he certainly will be a future world champion.

Be interesting but might be a while yet before it happens

Be some laugh to see Vince or possibly Triple H/Steph buy AEW in a few years if it goes the way of WCW/ECW

I don't think Page would go. He's over purely because of the freedom they have in AEW.

Sammy Guevara I could see having his head turned, but I'd be pretty confident that we'll see Jake Hager in WWE again. Him and his missus seem like a dream duo that Vince would have the horn for.

Other than that no one stands out other than Britt Baker that has the sort of profile they'd want.
