Tubber a point up at half time

The Leitrim boys are giving Ballintubber their full of it.

Very enjoyable contest in truly awful conditions.

    Ballintubber 0-6

    Glencar Manorhamilton 0-5

Stellar first half display by young Ciaran Gavin.

3 points from play.Alan Dillon is still a top quality club footballer.

Noel Geraghty went off with appears to be a very bad injury.Hopefully he'll be ok.

Corofin are a point down to the Stars.

They play Corofin who beat Tuam 0-11 to 0-08

Good win for the Tubber men.

Alan Plunkett's goal at the start of the second half was the decisive score and helped them keep an able Glencar Manorhamilton team at a distance.

Jason Gibbons the MOTM won some great ball in the middle considering the awful weather conditions. He generally ran the show from i lar na pairce.

Many fingers will be crossed that Cillian O Connor makes a speedy recovery from his hamstring injury.

Stephen O Malley who contributed well missed a few frees which they'll ill afford to spurn against Corofin.

Defensively Gary Loftus and Michael Plunkett really impressed.Plunkett is IMO a strong candidate for our half back line next year.

As good as young Ciaran Gavin was in the first half things didn't quite go his way in the second half. A dropped ball into the goalkeeper's hands and another opportunity spurned but as I keep repeating ad nauseum he's a great prospect with a lovely ciotog.

Alan Dillon's experience was invaluable going down the stretch.

Good performance all round considering the awful conditions.

They can be confident of putting it up to Corofin if Cillian O Connor starts.

Do Tubber have a good enough all round team to trouble Corofin?

Thought corofin ruthlessly exposed their weaknesses last year. Corofin will have 21 top quality footballers playing the next day, they're a serious juggernaut. Tubber won't have near that

Sport can be funny though and Corofin probably not as strong in 2019

Tubber put it up to Corofin for a considerable period last year.If I recall correctly it was Ian Burke's introduction at half time that swung the contest.

There is in all probability no comparison re the depths of the two panels but I do not think some of Ballintubber's lie with their overly at times defensive set up.

I merely speculate that Corofin like is said year on year aren't quite at the same pitch as previous years and might be caught on the hop.

It's vital Cillian O Connor is fit next Sunday to give them a fighting chance.Same seems to be in some doubt.

Tubber have a lot of depth in the forwards but very little back up in midfield/defence.

Castlebar used to be always able rattle Corofin but they had the all round quality to go toe to toe with corofin all over the park.

If I recall last year Tubber got a good start led by O'Connor but some naivety, basic errors and very poor decision making prevented them from taking a hefty enough half time advantage - if I remember correctly . Corofin blew them away then.

They couldn't have handpicked a better time to play corofin you'd imagine this year though - however in the corresponding fixture last year corofin (coming off a Galway replay aswell) absolutely mullered clan na ngael. So who knows!

Tooreen have a fine chance to reclaim Connacht

Up against kinvara who got a lost minute winner to win today in a drab, low scoring Galway final

They are not a patch on oranmore who tooreen put it up to last year. For context - since that match oranmore won the intermediate all Ireland, lost 1 Galway senior game out of 7 (to next week's finalist Liam mellows) and got promoted to senior A

Kinvara are placing almost all their hopes on one man and the rest are a combo of ageing stalwarts and kids who aren't quite ready to make the step up yet.

A fine chance, and with Kenny Feeney fit and firing again

Clann were a ideal team to play with their very open defence with little or no protection. Ballintubber and Pearses who should reach the Connacht final have a strong focus on defence and Corofin will have to work much harder for their scores against well organized sides like that.

Probably the only way of beating them if they are anywhere back up to the level they were at last year. Going man to man with them defensively would be suicidal.
They are somewhat like the Brazil soccer team of old where their attitude is regardless of what you score we will score more. They are nobodies fools defensively, but if the have a weakness with their style of play it may be in that area in that the tend to leave themselves open when going forward.

There are a few drawbacks in attempting to hit them on the break. Their movement can be mesmerizing so defensively you have to get it spot on, they can shoot from distance if you set up to close to goal and if you do break them down, especially at this time of year with heavy pitches, quick tranfer to catch the at the back is energy sapping.

The other thing, and being from Donegal I know all about it, playing them like that will get you vilified by the "purists" and media. Horses**t in my opinion as you do what you have too as long as it`s within the rules.

If the latest letter to the clubs is to believed. It's a worse **** show than we thought. Calls out 2 of the board and one of the developments the foundation was going to fund is dead in the water.

Statement from Charlestown GAA on the meeting:
    https://charlestowngaa.com/club-statement-05-11-2019/

County board are a disgrace. A law unto themselves, running the place on the impression that they're accountable to no one. More than a few that should resign.

    Edit:
