At 144hz definitely worth it. You can lower graphics settings if needs be to get high framerate but nothing can be done about a CPU ceiling and the 5700X3D is miles ahead of the 3600.

I would imagine you would get €50 of that back for the 3600 or close enough so not much of an outlay for a nice upgrade.

Every web server in the world runs on Linux. "Niche" is definitely not the word to use about the server market.

I wonder why someone has decided to point an LLM at this forum to introduce new accounts, it seems clear enough it's not because it's up to date enough to spoof it's way through making useful posts! Given the first was on the thread of an admin and second a moderator (not sure of what) and both remain intact it doesn't look good.

I am eyeing this motherboard/laptop CPU combo

    https://store.minisforum.de/products/bd?variant=51637319958894

    400euro for a 5.2GHz Zen4 16c/32t with the only downsides being BIOS and very-slightly smaller L1 cache.

    Thanks for that

Out of interest what is the value of the pc I was talking about? Was going to buy it for handiness sake

Although the build you threw up has me thinking of just going that route

I’d be driving hard toward €600. Rule of thumb is go to CEX, get the average between cash and voucher price of the CPU and GPU. The rest is give or take €200. And things that are cosmetic (AIOs, RGB lights) hold almost no value over standard parts.

The GPU alone would be close to €600

CEX will only offer ~384e cash / 446e trade-in so that's closer to market price.

Sorry, yeah, had a brain fart there. The 6800XT is around €300 second hand and in my mind that is max I'd pay for a last generation GPU seeing as the 3080ti and the 6800XT trade blows. €400 is the closer the market so the system lands somewhere in the €700 region.

However if its working, you like it and it's all you can afford, then it's entirely up to you if you want to go over that price. Also seller is perfectly entitled to stick to his guns as well.

€600 is a brand new 4070 Super or a 7900 GRE and both are significantly better performing. Where are you getting that valuation @Hyzepher ? Genuine curiosity.

Guy wants 1150 for the build

    It's a used system

What would be the absolute max I should be paying for the pc as it sits used

He just said the absolute bottom he will take is 1100

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,363 ✭✭✭✭DARK-KNIGHT

    That includes a 60% keyboard

I personally wouldn't pay more than €900 for that setup and that is being fair with the seller. €1100 is madness. As I said €800-850 is all it worth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭Coyler

That isn't special. Certainly not enough to overspend by nearly 50%.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,363 ✭✭✭✭DARK-KNIGHT

    Specs:
    Case: CiT Blaze red
    CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
GPU: AURUS Radeon RX 6900 XT
    PSU: Corsair CX 750
    MOBO: ASUS Prime B450M-K II
    SSD: Kingston 960gb
RAM: 2x16gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz

Hi folks what would a value on this spec be?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭Coyler

Same rule of thumb dude. CEX is offering ~€70 for the CPU and ~€300 for the GPU. Round up ~€200 for the rest. And max €200 for those parts. Low end stuff.

So max €600. And I mean max. The motherboard and PSU are not ideal at all

    Hi folks

Looking to pick up a decent mechanical keyboard for cheap enough if possible

    Any suggestions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,077 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

    I would suggest a 80% (TKL) layout.

Keychron K8 Pro with Gateron Pro Red switches is an easy recommendation. Can get another 10% off by giving them your email address.

But basically anything with hot-swap switches is a decent entry, because you can then easily fix any broken switch.

Does anyone use an OLED TV as a monitor? Considering moving from ultrawide to a LG OLED. Looks great for gaming at 120Hz

I do. A 42" C2 and have been using it for well over a year. It's actually a decent size for a monitor. I was hesitant at first but it actually works well.

Thats the model I was looking at too!. I'm on the fence regarding burn in. Not sure if its over-exaggerated.

Richersounds have an offer on Phillips OLEDs at the moment. Check out their forum on here.

Mine is fine with burn in. I use it daily due to working at home. If I was to leave the room even going to the toilet I have a black image opened at all times that I just click to full screen so the screen is completely black when I'm not using the screen. As I said I do that as even if I went to the toilet sometimes you get side tracked so saves the screen. I even open it when I look at my phone as you can get side tracked while on a phone too. But as I said I use it 7 days a week and have had zero burn in issues.

There is also a OLED screen care in the Tv's settings that I run every now and then that's suppose to prevent burn in too as well as me watching the screen with the black image.

I was toying with the idea of an oled, but burnin worries scared me off, so I got a qled instead. 42" Samsung QN90B, it's worked a treat. The size is perfect too.
