Connacht playing with fire with their clearouts, very nearly caught twice now.

In what sense? Beyond the ball?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,305 ✭✭✭crisco10

Thats 2 first phase tries for connacht .

So much grass for connacht to kick to.

I mean that try was the second phase. Albeit clearly a two phase move.

Back three is absolutely horrible when they've the ball. No cohesion or understanding whatsoever.

Keenan is nowhere to be seen when they're kicking and our wingers are pushing right up. If that's the plan, they need to change it immediately.

Yeah, as u say semantics. Sort of was just getting at leinster being pulled out of shape quickly by connacht.

Backs are brutal defensively...on both sides.

For Leinster, this is exactly how it was against the Ospreys too but they lost interest when Leinster scored a couple. Connacht won't roll over against Leinster. There's nobody directing things in the back line when they've possession.

I know its a shadow side, but sweet suffering Jeebus we are making things so difficult for ourselves. Mistake after cock up after mistake.

    Great try.

Is Keenan on the field? We may as well have no full back.

Brilliant from Connacht. Leinster being duly punished for playing like drains.

This is the jack carty Connacht fans have been seeing all year

Holy Mother of God, can Connacht keep this up? And I don't even believe in God.

It's a great try, but he defo didn't ground it. Glad it was given though.

Sad to say, but this enforced change for keenan will actually help leinster no end

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

Thats the third time we have been in the redzone and absolutely fupped it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,305 ✭✭✭crisco10

I'll be interested to see how frawley goes in a tight game.

This is a weird game. Leinster have had very similar chances but have butchered them. Connacht been more clinical.

It's a very close game. Just need to take our chances.

  • Leinster a shambles defensively

Leinster diehards already congratulating us to go home to do snuff in a Ballsbridge establishment. Game not over says I.

Neither team looking very good to be honest. Connacht have been more clinical and executed more slickly.

Leinster back line defence is nightmarish. Strong case for bringing Reid on just as someone who knows where to be and can add some cohesion if not any physicality. Currently the midfield is completely clueless as to their decision making and the back three are looking vulnerable once called into action.

Adam Byrne for the second try, jaaaaysus

They might put Kearney in at 15 to shore it up. Having said that I'm not sure he has the legs to cover the amount is space being left open by the two wingers

Gotta feel sorry for the Leinster fans who paid to watch that. Our only hope is that we surely cannot be that bad for a second 40 minutes in a row.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,516 ✭✭✭swiwi_

There is some step down defensively between Leinster 1st XV and the second stringers. Not that Connacht have covered themselves in defensive glory either.

Entertaining match. If Connacht can’t win this one I’m not sure they ever win in Dublin.

Leinster had want to wake up to exactly what type of game this is. Connacht winning the contact zone, Leinster forwards first tackling has been poor, falling off a good few and coughing up gainline. Backs have just been disjointed, no cohesion and if they want to play a rush defence they need to be organised - something missing from the formula and I think midfield has a bit to do with it.

Need to cop on in the second half and raise intensity up to match Connacht. If they get the first score it might well be away from us, Connacht will shut down the game entirely and we will be lucky to get a very close finish. Might be lucky to get there either way.

Is he on the bench? I think he has a higher cieling than Byrne so hopefully we see him get a run out

    The leader try??

Nah I couldnt fault him too much... He gets stepped by a guy at full tilt who steps back into the lane he was running.

There was no midfield cohesion which lead to that try

He's on the pitch now. At fullback.

Enjoying this. Both defenses are all at sea but feck it. Tis Christmas. The off loading of Connacht is a joy.

Seriously sick of this narrative for inter pro games
No regard giving to Connacht in the coverage and build up to the game, all the talk was about Leinster having three quality sides.
Now when they are losing, the Leinster support say they are playing ****e.

The reason they are having trouble defensively is the variety of play from Connacht. They have no idea if it going to be a cross field kick, pass along the back line, kick to touch or hard up the middle, the chip was a piece of magic.
Connacht are playing good attacking rugby. Simples!

Not a bad first half try by Kelleher. He had the wheels to burn Kearney
