I remember going to captain America in Liffey valley and I came out as in, that's it? How did it get such good reviews? I couldn't understand it. There was about one good insightful thing about him being weak but being strong and the rest was like a child's comic.

There's many more layers to the boys, although tbh, Hughie is the ordinary man and he seems to deal exceptionally well with his murder of translucent...

They're just made for as wide an audience as possible and gone very pc now too... No substance at all to them.

Ive listened to this a couple of times since the episode, cheesy goodness :D

Thats a young Adam Savage from Mythbusters in the video by the way, glasses guy that gets saved from drowning.

I think some comments on Hughie are harsh. The guy's connection to Starlight helped bring Vought's involvement with Compound V into the spotlight, which is their biggest achievement to date. He's hardly a passenger given he did that off his own initiative. And he's entitled to be pissed off at the others going back to Butcher over his head, seeing as Butcher left them for dead and he risked his own life to save them.

Maybe, he's just boring AF in an action show

If the source material is anything to go by, his story will be incredible

This is the thing, the show is different enough from the comics that it's not entirely predictable, but it does make a huge impact on how you see the show and characters unfolding, as it's been broadly true to the characters thus far.

Really, really curious to see what comes of Stormfront.

Episode 3 was terrific I have to say.
Aya Cash is so so good I just wish she had a bit more screentime maybe she will in the other episodes.

Yup, ep-4 is up, and it's a little longer than usual for whatever reason [6-8 mins longer than the average ep to date]. Guess we'll find out, will watch tomorrow night.

Watched just there. Filler episode but decent enough as it moved it on.

There is a class billboard when they are driving south- had me in stitches. Little things like that are lovely touches

Just when you thought that Homelander can't get any sicker they come up with that scene!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,839 ✭✭✭mcsean2163

Good episode but Becca and butcher segment seemed a bit overly melodramatic. I obviously messed up as I was expecting butcher to question her about going off with homelander but she really was raped unless there's another twist.

They'd enough time for a post coital chat, couldn't they have spoken about the son and come up with a better plan?

    Good point on demographics.

Are all the Billy Joel tracks leading up to a cameo I wonder.

I got a real David Lynch vibe off the scenes with Homelander and Doppelganger.

Are you kidding? episodes like this serve a whole lot more to the story overall than the OTT hyper-active balls to the wall episodes ever can dream of.
      A-Train sacked
      Homelanders warped fantasies
A new hero about to come in
Butcher's wife and her to and fro
      Stormfront's mysterious [supposed] past]
      etc ...

I thought it was a great episode, so many stuck stories moving along at last

I hope not, that's the one thing I've hated most about this show, could never stand Billy Joel - have a friend who idolises him and I just cannot understand.

      4: Hrmm..
looks like this could be setting up Homelander to become the public super villian.

      I thought that when
He was try hard to push the Super Villain term instead of Super Terrorist

Didn't think much of this episode.
The Hughie/Starlight stuff started to grate with me for the first time and I hope they stay apart for a while. I was disappointed with how easily Butcher got to Becca. I thought they might string it out for a bit over the season but it all felt rather wasted. I was hoping they might do a jealous son storyline with Becca's kid towards Butcher, playing off of the envy that his father is famous for. I felt Homelander carried this episode. Surprised they killed Doppelganger off as there's a good bit of storyline potential with a shape-shifter. Wondering what he has in store for Maeve and her partner as I can't see them being left alone.

I don't disagree with much of that tbh but
there is no reason why there can't be more people with the same power as doppelganger...there are plenty of speedy ones they mentioned A train would no longer be in the top 20
I still thought it was a very fun episode

I'm guessing A-Train will get to keep his position given they were challenged on a lack of diversity and Homelander named him as their black team member.

Loving the little snippets of Black Noir we're getting. Taking on the super terrorists in the first episode, crying when he learned about Compound V and then this episode.

Again, more of Maeve's story which is great. The Homelander scenes were all great for various reasons. Butcher's reconciliation with Becky going wrong is a great move, would have been far too easy otherwise. The Stormfront story taking a great twist too.

Enjoying the season so far anyway. Bound to be a slight lull after the first few episodes.

It was a stupid decision not to make anyone who joins The Boys
take compound V and become super strong
      like in the comics.

It makes them completely pointless, like why do the CIA and the rest of the feds give a sh1t about them? Wouldn't their own teams of specialists be completely superior in every way?

Why does Butcher give a sh1t about Hughie when he's just some nothing dweeb? They're just ordinary nobodies now.

Why is Mothers Milk called Mothers Milk if he doesn't do his thing? Did that not come up in any production meeting?

It was a really bizarre decision that leaves the whole thing making no sense really.

There's a lot to nit pick at, but you either roll with it or give up, just like every other series out there. I'm enjoying it more now than I was to start, almost gave up on it midway through S1 tbh. Homelander is definitely my favourite character, you don't have to like what he does but you are definitely interested in what he'll do next

All together a big divergence from the source material, but a decent interpretation. It almost seems like they are telling the origin of the boys rather than the end.

      I'm enjoying it.
