She has been dropped by her agent also, safe to assume she won't be getting any roles in anything for the foreseeable.

She's going to be very busy for the next few months, doing the rounds on Joe Rogan, Fox News opinion shows and probably numerous other podcasts and YouTube shows talking about being silenced.

People who have minuscule parts in Star Wars can do quite well giving autographs at conventions. Carano threw away the job of a lifetime that would have been putting money in her pocket long after she stopped playing the role.

    Silly woman.

No great loss to acting anyway; I know it's not an opinion shared here but thought she was a bloody awful actor with all the range of a ... well, an ex-sports fighter.

As to the offence, she only has herself to blame. And anyone throwing around CoVid conspiracies can fcuk right off; you can quibble the morality of social issues such as trans ones, but during a pandemic? Scaremongering and sharing false info is up there with screaming "Fire" in a public place TBH.

And once more Twitter shows itself as nothing more than a pox to humanity, and we'd be all so better off if it disappeared in the morning. It's a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

not a fan of baying mob cancel culture, ironic also since Disney made a film in an area of china where concentration camps exists so were dealing with the same local authorities running them

She's an heiress, she was never going to be doing that.

She hasn't been "cancelled", she's an actor with a minor role in a TV show, who won't reappear anymore; she got fired for having a (somewhat understandable given the current pandemic) troublesome public image - not exactly a new concept in Hollywood either. Comparing with concentration camps is pretty hyperbolic and lacks a little perspective if you're side-invoking Godwin's Law TBH :)

the hashtag was trending all yesterday #cancel... , so obviously tens of thousands of saddos on Twitter buying into it

What about invoking "cancel culture" as a cry of foul play? ;) Twitter hashtags are about as meaningless as online petitions, you can't divine reason or meaning behind that cesspit of kneejerks, conspiracy and toxicity. It's not a tastemaker, or a way to get the mood, it's vulgar triviality writ as "trending".

Carano got fired from her employer for presenting a poor public image that Disney felt reflected back on them. It's not superficially fair, but no different to a mundane employee (say) getting into a drunken fight on their night off - then finding themselves sacked when it gets back to their boss. How we conduct ourselves outside of work can have an effect - it just doesn't always exist in the extreme altitudes of Hollywood acting.

And if Carano was sharing anti-vax, CoVid conspiracies then that's not a leg to stand on. She's no martyr here, just an idiot high on her own supply, who was a bit player in the scheme of things. It's all a bit "dog bites man"

Carano isn’t an actor but she is a talented performer and Cara Dune is a very likeable character.

Star Wars will just have to get another character in the role.

I believe it was the likes of the Covid conspiracy and anti-mask thing that was the reason she won’t be coming back. Lucasfilm simply didn’t need to make an
announcement because she is only a recurring character and why stir up it up.

100% agree about Twitter. It has made I’m even never want to meet Hamill.

Ah, cancel culture - the terrible new trend where someone faces consequences for something I don’t personally think they should face consequences for.

    Not fired.

Pablo Pascal is the only permanent actor in the show.

Corano is just not going to get hired anymore.

The twits are going to think they cancelled her though.

If you working for Disney you got to stay away from controversy. Should she have been fired ? Probably not, so many Americans have been brainwashed by the internet/conspiracies,I think it’s better to have open debate and maybe they might realise how foolish some of their beliefs are.
That being said I think her acting was poor and the character wasn’t great either. Other characters/actors with far less screen did a much better job.
Also did she gain like 20 stone of muscle for the last season ? I found that a little distracting.....

    Ms

I liked her in the show but she seemed a bit thick. She got one chance before and did not learn from it so it is her own fault. A pity but they will just put a new I character in there instead of her and say she got killed defending the town or on a ship or something else. Problem solved.

Firstly, have you tried an "open debate" on Twitter? It's a service that fundamentally, was never designed for nuanced discussion. There's a reason why echo chambers have so easily spawned from it; it's not like Boards where you can at least back & forth on a topic; Twitter is a feedback loop. Second, in a pandemic, open debate with those that question the existence or severity of the disease & response aren't looking for discourse IMO; they've already made their mind up and think WE'RE the extremists for swallowing the situation as-is. This bad faith "just asking questions" argument that hides a rotten core. An existential crisis isn't the time for intellectualism with some who'd claim there's nothing to fuss over. Screw that.

Ha, that's technically true, but an important distinction. She hasn't been fired, just won't get hired as a guest star again. Carano hasn't been "cancelled" in any real sense of the word, simply not on the invite list anymore for being a total áss. She was a contractor, whose conduct was a bit shít so won't be working with Disney again.

But I guess that's not salacious enough for those on High Alert for "woke" crimes. There has to be an angle. And don't get me wrong: I hate Disney, and I hate how it is now has a de-factor monopoly on Western pop-culture, but in this case? Carano is not a martyr here.

If you are referring to the Live action Mulan, that was primarily shot in New Zealand. I knew watching it that I recognised the landscape as "Middle Earth"
I do believe that being a conservative should not be a barrier to getting work, but being a considerate human should be a must have. Gina wasn't, therefore "buh bye"

its a bit of a steamroller though , didnt it take out people like James Gunn for a while for some edgy 10 year old tweets. Im pretty sure if you had secret recordings of everyone in Hollywood, there would literally be no left working there

Okay, so she wouldn’t need the lifetime income from Star Wars - doesn’t mean she didn’t want it. :)

I'm not aware of other items she said but getting fired for that statement is crazy, and ironically, Disney kind of prove what she had shared.

Disney proved her right, did they? So how long before Republicans and conservatives are round up and sent to gas chambers?

With James Gunn, there was a period where right-leaning outlets and online personas started trawling through so-called "liberals" of Hollywood to find dirt on them. Gunn as you say, made some edgy tweets about (I think) dead children but as part of a thread about taste & humour IIRC. Again, see my comment about twitter being inimical to proper debate. Patton Oswalt was also caught up in the trawl through historic tweets, making similarly "shocking" comments, but I could be misremembering.

The context was intentionally stripped out, so Gunn looked like he was making jokes about dead children and naturally US news outlets ran with the story: Disney promptly took Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy 3; his friends in Hollywood rallied around calling foul; I THINK Gunn made comments of the "I've matured from those days" variety; Disney re-hired Gunn when they realised how much money he made, and that there was more to it than "director thinks dead children are funny".

It's comparable, but in defence of Gunn there was a context intentionally ignored and went unshared against the tactic to target Gunn and others.

James Gunn didn’t post “edgy tweets”. He made horrible disgusting comments.

However he had grown up since then and said he was embarrassed by the comments and sorry it had ever happened. And unlike some of his “supporters” he behaved with dignity and class.

That is why he invited back to Disney.

No loss if it's true, IMO. By far the weakest actor in the show and the more screen time she got the more evident it became.

Hamill, people only want to hear your Star Wars stories. Shut up about everything else.

Sarah Silverman wasn’t removed from Wreck it Ralph.

She isn’t exactly a name that puts bums on cinema seats. How come she wasn’t pushed out?

    Couldn't say, I don't run Disney. Yet. ;)

Don't know what Silverman said TBH so can't comment - and IMO we could be here all night parsing the controversy of every "actor said XYZ" incident.

Blagging conspiracy about CoVid is a pretty open and shut case as these things go
