I'm not too well up on the american justice system, what would a mistrial mean on the 10 counts, a retrial?
Doubt they'd bother seeing as he's found guilty on other 8 counts. Job done.

Proscetutors choice on retrial of the 10.

    Thirty years jail X 8 = 240 years.
    I'll take that.

He's another trial due in another state anyway, but they may go for a retrial to get a verdict on the campaign finance one?

Option for Trump to still pardon him though.

First 5 are max 3 years

    6th is max 5 years

    7th & 8th are max 30 years

    Not 8 X 30 = 240.

Either way likely a long time in jail for a middle aged man who won't have the stomach for it. Motivates him to co-operate in any way he can ;)

    Slowly slowly catchy monkey :p

Meh, he'll just wait for the inevitable pardon.

Bank fraud is the 30, guilty on 2 of those

5 on tax fraud which is 3 to 5 years max on each (I believe)

one on hiding foreign bank accounts not sure what the time on that is

Edit apparently sentencing for first timer on all 18 is 14 years. 8 counts will be less. He could just get a few years for this

He can be pardoned by Trump on all 8. Somehow I think Manafort won't be serving too much of those 240 years if prosecution is left with those findings only.
And Cohen just officially implicated trump publicly in his plea deal.
Eta his words're campaign finance violations were "in coordination with and at the direction of" Trump.
Trump is having a bad bad day..

Assume Trump will be cancelling his rally tonight?

Cohen seen by CNN legal expert as directly implicating Trump in a federal crime and as his conspirator.

An indictment is out of the picture but impeachment is on the table, with the federal crime possibly parked until after he leaves office.

And let's not forget, Manafort still has another trial next month.

This is amazing. Cohen and Manafort... and Trump is on his way to Virginia (I think) for a campaign rally.

Please let it go ahead, it should be hilarious. Or he'll decide to nuke Mexico.

It's really not. Nothing will touch him until he hurts the Republican election results. Then and only then will they move to impeach him or force him to resign.

Republican guy on CNN still trying to peddle the fact we're only hearing one side of the story and it has nothing to do with Russia, and guffawed out of it.

But it's on the table as an alternative to indictment.

He's going to have a bigger meltdown than usual on live TV and it'll be amazing. He'll probably implicate himself in numerous things and contradict previous statements while he's at it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,120 ✭✭✭✭Water John

Of course Trump is going to Virginia. Anything to get out of the house.

True but you need both houses to favour impeachment. They won't until post mid terms realistically.

Manafort looking at an 80 year sentence.

It'd nearly be worth staying up for, to see what he comes out with. Today has been unreal so far! So much coming out in a short space of time. Also looking forward to hearing Giuliani's take on this!

No he's not, he'll get less than 10 according to sentencing guidelines.

Manafort looking at an 80 year sentence.

Not a chance he'll get 80 years for bank fraud. Anyone following this knows that Sept 17th is when the real trial starts.

Manafort won't see the inside of a prison beyond Trumps initial term. He'll get a pardon for keeping his mouth shut.

This is unreal! Finally some good news. I’m glued to cnn all evening and for once my kids aren’t complaining. I might stay up and stream trumps stupid rally on Fox News too.

What time here will he be on tv?
