You'd be hearing a lot about this if it was Russia behind it.

But it's the US/Saudi axis of evil, so as usual the western media looks the other way.

    Yes. This.

And then the American media lectures us all about how important their media is and how controlled Russia is.

    Sad.

So if no arms were sold tot the Saudis' from either the UK or US, you'd have peace and tranquillity in Yemen?

As usual everything bad in the world is all because of the West.

    They are contributing.

    Oil.
They want to run a pipeline from Saudi through Yemen to bypass Straits of Hormuz controlled by Iran.

    Actually no ,

    But hey

Saudi Arabia is directly responsible for this. US is indirectly responsible.

And what iran and their russian backers who's arming various groups are innocent ,

    it's murica murica murica

    Let's ignore history and facts

The US could stop this by saying stop.

It’s also refuelling Saudi aircraft and using drones against the rebels.
Saying 'stop' would not be enough, as the US would also need to stop actually bombing Yemen themselves. Instead, they have increased their own bombings of Yemen sixfold in the last 18 months.

Interesting that the yank media, so quick to call trump a fascist on so many other ways, is not willing to call him out on this.

They increased by a whole 21 strikes ,

Almost shocking when you say sixfold and see it's actually only around 130 strikes against ALQ targets and other foreign groups

Iran is hardly innocent. Saudi Arabia and Iran are as bad as each other.

The thing is though, that left to its own devices the Houthis would have won in Yemen. Instead Saudi Arabia has been propping up the government that lost most of its territory, and is dropping bombs on Houthi territory and starving the population there.

Sure Iran is giving aid to the Houthis. Are they doing it to try and reduce Saudi Arabia's local power? You betcha. Does that make this action inherently wrong in this particular instance? No.

If a terrorist group detonated "only 130 strikes" in Europe, there would be a global outcry.

War is war, and it is nearly always wrong.

Doesn't fit well with the "biased-against-me media witch hunt" narrative he's trying to build, that's for sure.

Except nobody actually said that. You’re really good at making stuff up when people are calling out war crimes of the US or its’ allies.

Jesus Christ. The reporter on Channel 4 News tonight in his report on today's massacre of 43 people (and rising) in a market, including 29 children bombed in their bus:
".... The Western-backed Saudi-led coalition responsible offering no apology. This was a legitimate military operation, they say, in accordance with international humanitarian law."

    He finished his report thus:

"... the absence of any moral culpability over a war in the Arab world's poorest nation where last year an average of 130 children died every day".
    .

An average of 130 children per day dying? It's quite nauseating how this conflict is sidelined because the US and Britain are arming and defending the mass murderers in that aberration of humanity that is the state of Saudi Arabia. How anybody in the west can justify supporting these people defies belief. No wonder so much of humanity recoils when these same Western leaders lecture others on immorality only when their opponents are engaged in it.

So many people I know don't know or care about this.
I admit I turn a blind eye too as it's too depressing to watch.
    Ignorance is bliss for many.

Well seeing that Syria conflict was never about democracy you can see now in Yemen killing children is fine as long they are your allies.

Where Nikki Haley at the UN? She quick to call meetings at the UN when she thinks Assad carried out an atrocity.

The Saudi's have actually said this was a legitimate military target. Heather Nauert has waffled over this attack but still said they support their allies in the region. This isn't even the first massacre, they have bombed weddings, funerals, markets. There's cholera outbreaks as well as starvation. The UK, US and Canada are supplying billions of dollars of weapons to Saudi, plus tactical support. The media are reporting the minimum because West is complicit.
If this had happened in Syria, it would be headline news for days. The Saudi's are spending billions on this farce, and getting nowhere and none of it is for love of the Yemeni people.

The Saudi are scum, and all those who support them. They see children as cannon fodder.

UN calling for an inquiry: https://edition.cnn.com/2018/08/10/middleeast/yemen-children-attack-bus-intl/index.html Guess who will block it? What does our Minister of Foreign Affairs have to say on this ****show?

It is a large stain on humanity what the Saudi's backed by the west are doing to the people of Yemen.

Absolute disgrace, no country can claim to be a moral authority and pretend to be the good guys when they support these horrific crimes.

Channel 4 News - Yemen: Dozens of children killed in airstrikes:

    https://www.channel4.com/news/yemen-dozens-of-children-killed-in-airstrike

20 minutes into the 9pm news tonight RTÉ had a section on Yemen:
.... It is estimated that 85,000 children, all under-five, may have died from starvation in Yemen since 2015.

The figures, from Save the Children, are a conservative estimate based on data from the United Nations.... Over 14 million Yemenis are at risk of famine and more than half are children, according to the UN.

The world turned its attention to Yemen last month, when the New York Times gave an insight into the scale of the devastation.

The newspaper gave an account of how the war is affecting communities, in particular children, and showed a striking image of a starving seven-year-old girl, Amal Hussain. For those who are not dying of hunger, UNICEF said almost 3,000 boys have been recruited into fighting.

Education of children is now rare, and makeshift schools are emerging around the country.

More than 2,500 schools have been damaged or destroyed.

One in five schools in Yemen can no longer be used and teachers have not been paid in years. Aid organisations suggest the deepening economic crisis and escalating violence could make an additional 3.5 million people food insecure, including 1.8 million children.

The war is rooted in the lack of political stability following the Arab Spring.

In 2011, long-time president Ali Abdullah Saleh was forced to hand over power to President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi. However, President Hadi found it difficult to make changes to a range of problems including corruption and threatening political movements.

The Houthi movement took advantage of Mr Hadi's disadvantages and gained power in the northern Saada province - eventually forcing the president to flee.

As the Houthi-controlled ground grew, Saudi Arabia and other states began an air campaign, worried that the movement was being backed by Iran. The fighting has continued since 2016 and has resulted in different factions emerging and getting involved.

Millions of people have been left in need of aid...

This should be the main headlines on every news channel in the UK and America but yet its not. Strange that.

RT do cover it quite a lot and the Brits are looking to close them down, so much for freedom of press.

    Far away don't care
Pretty heartless - and you care enough to let people know you don't care.

I don't know how anyone could not care even a teeny bit when they see images of those little kids.

Why is there zero mention of the other parties heavily involved in Yemen at all ,

Saudi and the west ,the west and Saudi

Remind me about Irans direct involvement and their international backers including NK and of russia ,5 plus civil wars instigated by various backers but yet it's all Saudi this and the west this .

Slightly odd and typically one sided

Trump in the last day has effectively condoned murder by MBS because the Saudis are it's allies and they have billions of dollars of trade deals together.

So in essence the US are condoning the atrocities in Yemen and by default so are the EU.

It's fooking despicable to be honest.
