It has become the award for which QB is on a winning team, that's playing well in the last quarter of the season. Like in 2021, when Rodgers won it over Brady, despite have significantly less yards and tds, and Brady having to make way more throw. Rodgers got crushed by the Saints early in the season, while Brady had a stinker late on. Purdy and Allen were both better than Jackson this year imo, and CMC was better than everyone.

On the ITV commentary they mentioned a figure of $20 billion dollars being bet on the Superbowl... an astonishing sum I find it hard to believe.

It may be partly the way figures are calculated, especially in the era of betting exchanges.

Like lets say you put $1 on Pacheco to be MVP at 10/1, I put $1 on Purdy at 2/1 and the poster above us Eagle Eye puts $1 on RunCMC at 5/1.

If we do it in a bookies, then I think most people would agree that a total of $3 has been bet.

But on an exchange it would consider that (1+10) + (1+2) + (1+5) = $19 has been 'matched', and that would be their headline figure for bets struck.

Apple TV have released the first two episodes of the patriots documentary called the dynasty. The next two are out next Friday. Looks very well made. I’m not sure how much no info you’ll get if you’re a patriots fans.

A team selecting a kicker through the international pathway could make sense.

Not as high ceiling pick as other positions but could be more likely to hit than another position picking up the sport so late.

Get to keep a bonus player on the practice squad that could help in an emergency and not mean cutting someone they like from the main or practice rosters.

Kelce is the best center I ever seen. Jeff Saturday was a great one but he didn't get upfield and block very often.

Gotta go and see how much the Broncos get caught capwise for Wilson. They'll have to go draft a QB, no way than can afford a free agent.

It's getting little or no talk here but three GAA players took part in The Combine as kickers on Sunday.

They were part of the International Player Pathway.

Now I know the Irish media hype up any Irish guy who even plays on a college team,( I've read reports of guys potentially making the NFL only to read further down the page that they are going to some FCS Division 3 school) but these guys have better chances, they were at least doing drills in front of teams in Indy.

They have now gone back to their camp in Florida awaiting contact from teams.

According to the guy who was coaching them and runs a kicker academy there was interest from teams who wanted to find out more after seeing them in Indy, but he would say that, wouldn't he.

Not sure if anything will come of it, kickers are a dime a dozen and there are plenty of college kickers out there who have played in real game situation, so why hire a guy from a completely different sport.

By the way the guys are Rory Beggan from Monaghan, Mark Jackson from Wicklow and Charlie Smyth from Down.

Beggan would be by far the most high profile in GAA, one of the most high profile goalkeepers in the game.

It's important to keep in mind that they were in the international combine. One reason they might hire them over more directly experienced kickers is that if you pick an international player they can take an extra practice squad spot, so they aren't taking up any space on the roster. So they have a chance to at least be signed. But only a tiny handful of players have ever been signed from the international combine so it's a long shot to say the least.

Trade itself for Wilson wasn't too bad, even though there were some questions at the time about whether he was on a downturn in performance. It was throwing the contract at him so early and unnecessarily that was incredibly dumb.

Watson is however shaping up to potentially be worse on all counts, though still has time to pull things back.

I thought the International Combine was waht happens in London, months ago, to gain access to the International Program in Florida. What they took part in last week was the Regular Combine in Indianapolis

Oh yeah you're right about that I think, my apologies, but it still holds true that if a team signs them they don't take up a spot on the practice squad, you're allowed have one extra player if he's international like that.

Jaguars tweeted this a few days ago, and have updated their UK Twitter account to be named their "UK and IE" account. They've also been retweeting some Irish NFL podcast and have been including Irish flag emojis on everything.

So they're definitely making an effort to include the Irish market. I know they got "exclusive rights" to Ireland last year which sounds ridiculous, but I wonder if this momentum means an Irish game is in the pipeline in the coming years.

I think people need to ignore anything the Steelers and Jags say about games in Ireland, expressing a wish for such etc. Ultimately the decision has next to nothing to do with the individual team, it will be made at an NFL level.
