No chance they’ll be there. Be doing the GAA out of 15 - 20 k punters @ 20 a man.

Talking through your hole again. So you think there would be 20/25.000 at either of our "home" games if we played outside the county. Get a grip.

Don’t mind that fella, a renowned bluffer.

I’d say there is the potential for 2 x 15-20k gates = 30-40k crowd at home

Clare fannngs first game & limerick All Ireland champions

    Fraher will hold what 5k x 2 = 10k

    Delta is 20-30k

    Simple maths really tbh

    Bullsh1t really tbh.

Fanning is a lot of things but he's not Box Office. And Limerick fans will be waiting for later games.

Your figures are really quite stupid. Attendances were low in 2018 and will still be low in 2019 as most people are not going to be able to go to four matches.

    Fanning's first game. FFS

Waterford v Clare in the football. Winners play some crowd called Kerry

What? U don’t think there isn’t the potential for 15k at either of our home games assuming we had the facilities to take the crowd?

    Which is it?

You've just revised your "potential" crowd from 25,000 to 15,000 in less than half an hour. You should hit reality shortly.

10k Waterford tipp (waterfords home game in limerick - significantly amount put off by the trip to limerick)

23k limerick Waterford (another 4 hour round trip)

14k Clare Waterford (5 hour round trip)

    Don’t have the cork one.

But factoring in no around the world in 80 days factor, the start of a new mgmt team & all else. If anything you would expect decent turn out.

So 2 x 5k home crowds will not fly with munster council

I’m talking about 15-20k across the two games.

I would expect demand for both home games to be in the region of 15k.

Limerick maybe less or more depending how the first two games go...

First 3 games last year, there was 15.6k average, include all the mitigating factors, if there was a home venue, why would demand be any less? No logical reason whatsoever.

Bullsit & bluffing aside. Logic wins the day over fellas talking through their hole.

Billy Nolan surely the natural to come in to the role. Could possibly challenge for the starting spot even.

He doesn't even want to play in goal for his club so this may be an issue.
Hes too good an outfield player for Roanmore to be wasted in goals
    Like Eoin Murphy in Kilkenny

thought Billy Nolan was in goal for Roanmore til injured this year

The question then would be could he do a job on goal for the county or would he even be interested. If not, is there a place for him in the panel of outfield players or would an argument be made that what is already there could offer more?

Thanks to IOR, he's been a great servant to the county going back to his debut as a 19 year old in Croke Park v KK in that AI semi final. It was by no means a good day for him but he showed good character to get himself back on the panel nearly 10 years later. It's also good that's he's still involved in the team as he is by all accounts a good character to have in the dressing room.
I would have said though, if I was Fanning, I'd have SOK and Nolan as the two keepers for next year (assuming Nolan would be interested) regardless of whether IOR made himself available. The two aforementioned could definitely provide stiff competition to each other and it would be no guarantee SOK would have the position wrapped up, as it realistically has been the last few years.

All this talk of demand is beyond stupid.

Either we want to play our games at home or we don't.
The demand for all ireland finals outstrips croke park every year, yet the games are played there.
U2 will play the 3 arena in a few weeks, does demand outstrip supply ? You bet.

After last years shambles its time the county board grew a backbone and play the games at fraher field regardless of attendance.
Home advantage clearly is an advantage as last year showed.

Under what category does this post fall?
it is also the smallest pitch in the hurling championship for teams competing for liam mccarthy, not at all conducive to our hurling.

we have the lowest win % in a home ground for all the teams competing for all Ireland for league and champ games going back to 1998 & also the lowest scoring average.

Our best performances have come in Pairc ui Caoimh 60 odd % winning percentage, Nowlan park about the same & Thurles.

They are numbers 1, 2 & 3 in pitch size in Ireland.

Our worst ground is Limerick - 13% winning ratio. tightest pitch but not the smallest.

Of course the county board know all of this information!!

    Still waiting on your 'graphic'.

Dam right, the biggest impact on the venue decision should be whether it gives the team an advantage or not...and it clearly does. I don't think anyone believes that goal against Austin would have been awarded last year if the game were on in Walsh Park/Fraher Field.

Plenty of tickets will be available for a potential All Ireland quarter/semi final to make it up to disappointed fans who missed out.

Only logic that matters here is that Waterford have two home games. If they want give away home advantage and play in neutral venues I'm sure Clare and Limerick will be more than accepting of this position. :D

Seems a lot of people here would rather risk being out of the championship by June (again) just so they can get a ticket/have more people at a game.

Flawed logic lads. Would that goal against Tipp have been given down in a packed Fraher field/WP this year? Like fook would it! We don't want the same happening again next year, Fraher field or forget it!

Is that confirmed anywhere? Rumours of this going around last couple of weeks but i haven't seen confirmation anywhere

Do ya think Waterford Gaa ultimately make the decision? If munster council are going to be out of pocket a couple of hundred thousand, who is going to foot the bill?

    Money talks & bullsit walks.

I think Waterford away crowds will be even smaller again next year. Don't forget, its not that we just can't play our games at home, its 4 away games. I honestly think they'll get more Waterford people at the other two away games if they have two in Dungarvan

Sure if attendance is capped at 5k they obviously will!

I’m not against fraher for next year, If the mgmt team are for it, then I would be too, I just don’t see it being practical or washing with munster council

I don't see how Fraher Field is viable option but unfortunately we can't play in Nowlan Park now as Kilkenny are at home to Dublin the weekend we play Clare. I hope a proposal was at least put to Munster/Leinster councils and Kilkenny county board on this, because I fear the alternative is going to be Thurles v Clare and Pair UI Chaoimh v Limerick.

Would Thurles for both not be the more sensible option ???. I knw we would then be in Thurles 3x times but before this new system came in we were always in Thurles for games

Somebody suggested that the Munster council would consider that an unfair advantAge somehow through some form of flawed logic.

As an aside, if either the semi or county football final are draws after extra time then we either won't have a football rep in Munster or they'll be playing two days on the spin. That is some farce considering how long were out of the inter county championships.
