I don't understand how you can separate fighting for your family from fighting for your country. Say you're a British person in WWII. You want to fight to protect your family from the Germans but you won't because that would involve fighting for your country? How would that work?

I think most of them would and being middle class doesn't automatically make you a wanker anymore than being from the slums makes you a scumbag.

I agree with you, but the reality is someone from the slums is more likely to fight than someone from the middle class, it always amazes me how people on the lower end of the economic ladder always hang onto patriotism a lot more than those on the higher end.
