Shocked at how poor the yes side have been tonight

They're not getting the same airtime as the No side at all.

I'm not sure if I am sorry or glad I can't watch this!

Trying to but getting shouted at

Now a GP from Cavan that worked in England said that women were forced to have abortion.

I advise you not to turn it on.

I doubt it. They will have a stop watch on each sides contributions.

It's quite obviously biased to the no side.

Disbelieving gasps at Peter Boylan saying a foetus is not fully formed at 12 weeks? Surely that is extremely bloody obvious? There must be many imbeciles in this audience tonight.

Poor Peter Boylan looks like a man aching for a single malt at this stage. Can only imagine how frustrating the no debaters and audience members are for him.

Claire is not running a balanced show tonight. Not sure whether that's her intention.

Why are you still posting? A mod instructed you to either answer SusieBlue or not post at all as you continuously avoided her question.

Regardless of whether or not you're having a conversation with the mod in the background via PM's, it's common sense to either yano, do as the mod instructed by answering SusieBlue, or not post until you clear it up with the mod and they redact their note in-thread.

Irish doctors don't swear the hippocratic oath, as has already been pointed out ad infinitum on this thread

    It depends on your doctor.

On the Last Word, the compassion is on the No side.
Dr John Monaghan said he would treat a woman if she needed treatment even if the threat to her life was three or four months away and there were no immediate threats to her life, Dr Louise Kenny on the Yes side said she wouldn't and used the 8th as an excuse.

So maybe Yes doctors are too conservative with treatment and the No doctors aren't.

That doesn’t answer my question. That’s a cop out.
I’m getting laser treatment on my cervix. If I was pregnant this could cause miscarriage so I’m not allowed to have it. The baby would have equal right to life as me.
    No doctor will touch me.

You have said that the 8th has done good and does not effect women’s healthcare.
I’m showing you and telling you exactly how it is effecting me.

How can you stand by what you’re saying?

Ppl being forced into abortion has noting to do with providing for abortion. Either abortion is morally right or it isn't so if one is forced by a man to have an abortion that makes no difference as to whether it's right or wrong.

I really wish the NO side would provide for me per se arguments against it rather than side-effect arguments that I don't even know are true.

Most definitely biased. She is constantly giving the No side more air time and not stopping them shouting over each other. Poor poor debate and not balanced in the slightest..disgraceful from RTE

Probably the most biased 'debate' I've seen in this country.

Don't think it was biased. Didn't think it was any good. Very weak contributions on both sides.

Jesus, this debate is extremely one sided at this stage; it's actually shocking.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,480 ✭✭✭bloodless_coup

The No side are winning in terms of the ratio of hot women compared to the Yes side.

As an undecided voter I feel the No side have come off better here

Did anyone notice he was trying to stifle a smile after saying that. It's like it's all just a game to a lot of people on the No side.

I’d rather hear from women who have been harmed by the 8th, than 15 minutes devoted to the opinions of GPs.

Many women are unwilling to come forward regarding their experiences. I'm not trying to shame anyone, just pointing out there's always a 'fear' of 'outing yourself', when it comes to things like sexuality, abortion, mental illness, or even embarrassing conditions like incontinence, haemhorroids, or erectile dysfunction. Hence the doctors can speak about this without divulging a patient's name or personal life.

Got the 'Yes' pamphlet in the post today, they had testimonies or comments from women who object to the 8th.

Mary Lou has been fantastic tonight, Dr Boylan did his best but was pretty much harassed and not allowed to speak.
I didn't find this balanced at all Claire Byrne did not chair at all, the opposite of the late late show which allowed people from both side to speak in a clear way.

Stay classy club - tie dude.

Comments like his, telling one of pre-eminent OBGYNs in the country to go back to school only helps the Yes side.
