I wonder if the 6T will be much slimmer than the 6? That's the only strong reason I can see for leaving out the headphone jack. Maybe waterproofing, but other phones with headphone jacks are waterproof.

I don't use a headphone jack very often, but it does have its uses. I have enough things to be charging, it's easy to forget one from time to time. And bluetooth headphones, having small batteries, are easy to run dry. It's nice to have a little spare wired set for those occasions.

Just got the OP6 after dropping my OP3 from the thousandth time and finally smashing it to pieces!

Anyone any tricks or tips to make the experience as good as it can be right out of the box? Loved my OP3 so getting the OP6 was a no-brainer.

I'd guess it'll be slightly thicker if they are putting the fingerprint scanner under the screen.

I've heard or read somewhere (think is was All About Android) that it'll be slightly thicker presumably for the fingerprint scanner.

The lack of a jack has pissed me right off. But to be honest it was only a matter of time before they jumped in with the 'me to' lark. Also, why do they are feel the need to slag others off only to copy them a little later on? People don't forget you know.

What bugs me the most is when apple did everyone who supported them said 'you'll have noise canceling and full on op-amps now that analog is gone'... yea so where are they? Most bluetooth audio still murder the sound with compression and want noise cancelling? Ha, buy Bose ...

Think ill be using the op5 as my walkman...

    grrr

    Some people simply hate progress.

Want to use your 3.5mm headphones? There's an adaptor.

Meanwhile everyone else moves on and realises just how good Bluetooth headphones are getting, especially for the 99.9% of lads who aren't using them in a recording studio.

There's a noticeable difference in sound quality. There are plenty of people with headphones or sound systems that cost a few hundred use 3.5mm, many older cars have 3.5mm but not bluetooth.

There's also the battery drain to consider and bluetooth is useless if you use it at work and commuting for 8+ hours a day and you can't charge if your port is taken up with your headphones.

And OnePlus ditching a headphone jack has precisely no impact on anyone in such a position, do they?

I thinks oneplus is going to lose some fans but everyone said same thing with notch on 6...but it was a hit nonetheless...only issue is they mocked iphone X 6 months back for not having 3.5 mm jack...loyal fans might not take it lightly..

Why would it be annoying though? It's more cumbersome carrying around headphones with a huge wire and can be quite annoying holding the phone with them plugged in trying to watch anything.

And you'll have your adapter so plug that onto your headphones if you need to used wired ones.

Really only a matter of time before USB-C headphones are the norm anyway.

I use Bluetooth Earphones around the house. When I'm out I use the wired ones. It's more annoying to me to have to frequently charge Bluetooth.ones.

Yep one in the box, it's wonderful!... That I cant use when in my non Bluetooth enabled car as the little one is always using my internet and killing my battery meaning it has to be plugged in... oh get a dongle? yea i love Bluetooth compression hell...

lets not even get started on using any good cans on your ears.

Not hating progress at all as I'm a tech nut, but we have none of the benefits that were outlined to us when this first started happening a few years ago and in fact most have just used it to sell you a Bluetooth version of the same stuff they had with a jack on the end with nothing new but worse sound.

Will this stop me from buying the OP6? nope, i just said ill use the OP5T as my walkman.

I'd love to know how many people can actually hear a difference.

If they don't want degraded sound than yes. Or if you want to make any length of a journey yes because they can't charge while listening.

It could just be my setup but when I used a dongle on the iPhone 7 in my car, coming from the 6S there was a robotic sounding quiet echo following any voices that wasn't there before. And during quiet bits of songs it sounded like an old TV when it was turned up loud.

Has anyone found when using Bluetooth the songs either stutter for a split second or drop in and out. Have found it with two sets of Bluetooth headphones (Bose and Bullets) and my brother has found it with his Phillips Bluetooth headphones. Doesn't happen when headphones are wired in.

Rebooting the phone seems to be the only thing that sorts it for a while.

I was researching a pair of Audio Technica headphones which had bluetooth and a 3.5mm socket in the cup for plugging in a cable if you wanted.

Any reviews I read said there was a very noticeable difference between max volume between wired and bluetooth.
    Bluetooth being lower of course.
Also the reviews said the sound quality was better when wired.

So there is differences at play.

Why would you be playing anything on max volume while wearing headphones? You'd go deaf

Everyones ears are different, and in noisey environments people tend to crank them up.

If I have a favourite track I'll blast it up full volume to get an adrenaline hit for example.

These are on ear headphones btw, I wouldn't have in-ear headphones up full blast personally, can't stand those.

I don't use the headphone jack a lot. But right now it's one of two options. I can use bluetooth headphones (which I usually do), or I can use wired headphones (which I sometimes do).

If making the phone slimmer means the headphone jack cannot be accommodated, then I can understand how removing it facilitates progress.

Removing features when there's no need to remove them? That's not progress. A dongle is ok, but a step backwards from not needing a dongle. I'm not even sure if the dongle will allow charging at the same time as listening to music.

I'm all for progress, but I can already use bluetooth with my OP6. What will the removal of the headphone jack give us? Where's the progress?

They are meant to be putting the fingerprint scanner under the screen so maybe they had to move speaker drivers and other bits to get that in there so maybe the headphone jack had to go to allow everything else move?

I was always under the impression that all 'legitimate' OnePlus stuff comes directly from OnePlus only and they don't go through third party sellers, but this looks to be coming from Amazon so presumably it's safe in every regard? In comparison to say eGlobal or some small scale third party seller?

(..he asks as his finger hovers over the "In Den Einkaufswagen" button...)

Just be aware that OnePlus wont have anything to do with it if anything goes wrong with it as you didn't use there site to buy it. You would have to go back to the amazon seller/site.
