My OP6 came today. Love it. Anyone suggest a better quality case?

I got the Spigen case that was suggested earlier in the thread... Will protect against any accidental knocks....I'd not like to test it dropping from a height though... think the weight of the phone is going to almost guarantee a little damage

I went for the Spigen also. Not the prettiest case but it's definitely sturdy. I'm having more hassle with the screen protectors. I went for the wet application soft ones but they seem quite easy to nick, also the feel of them is a little bit rubbery. Anyone recommend a good tempered glass one?

Need a new phone and was gonna get the OP6 until I heard the 6t was coming out soon.
Should I hold off for the 6t? Is there much improvement and what will the price difference be?
    Thanks

Internal specs are the same, the OP6 has the best available CPU/SOC so it can't get any better and it won't get worse.

They have changed the design based on some leaks. The notch is now almost a circle rather than a small bar and now just houses the camera, the earpiece is in the join between the screen and the frame of the phone. The fingerprint sensor it no longer on the back it is now inside the screen but it is less secure.

We can't know that the internals will be the same until they actually release the specs. There were rumours that it could include the new 850 Snapdragon compared to the 845 in the OP6.

Are in-displays really less secure? I just thought they were a bit slower.

The 850 is a variation of the 845 designed to run Windows so it is unlikely to be in the OP6T.

I don't know the tech in the OP6T for sure but so far in screen fingerprint readers use optical sensors which I haven't researched but have read are not as secure as the other methods typically used.

I presume there can't be a glass protector used then either?

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm gonna get the OP6 cos my volume key has broke on my current phone and I can't wait until January.

I have had a big problem with my own phone with storage as it is a Moto G4 Plus 16gb. Any advice on what storage I should go for? Cheers

I went for 128Gb. Thought the 64Gb would be fine but I expect to keep this for a while and a 4k 60fps video took up 2Gb for a 2 minute video so I'm delighted now I went for the 128Gb. Fantastic phone, great camera. The only issue is the speaker and it's positioning but i generally use earphones so it's not a huge deal, it's the only fault I can think of!

Is the one plus website the best place to get a sim free OP6?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,813 ✭✭✭rizzee

Best place? Regarding warranty etc I would imagine... I see Gearbest/AliExpress doing them under the 500 mark but unsure about warranty/if they work properly this side of the world.

Will the 6 take another drop when the 6T comes out I imagine? Or just add in bundles for similar price...smart move on their behalf

EDIT: 397 euro here... unsure of delivery or custom charges and if legit? Site is safe and reputable though.

The 6 will disappear from official channels before any release of the 6T, the same pattern as every other flagship model from Oneplus has followed.

I think they pretty much stop selling the older version.

When I went looking for my 5T it was only out and the 5 was already finished.

It's the only place, anything else is a scam. OP don't sell phones at discounts to any other retailers. If someone else is selling them they are fake copies, stolen or sold for a different region where they are priced lower. OP won't deal with any warranty issues if you don't buy from them.

As you mentioned, +23% vat because it is coming from Hong Kong so almost €500 and no warranty.

Thanks for pointing that out. Was wondering why it was so cheap :)

I meant from OP, they operate warranty requests through the account the phone was purchased from, if you don't have a phone linked to your account it looks like you can't request warranty support.

If you google gearbest warranty, after the first few links which are gearbest's own website there are hundreds of pages of different threads from different sites all saying Gearbest won't honour it's warranty. I had a similar experience in 2016, bought a ulefone power for my mam, it broke after 6 months with no clear explanation, they ignored all my emails.

Nor me, been on the bluetooth train long enough now.

Not sure about the red but they've always left them a bit later in the past haven't they?

Yea it's usually about 5-6 weeks after the launch. Dropped my 5 the other day and cranked the screen so definitely changing now and don't really want to wait longer than I need to :pac:

Same here. Won't miss the headphone jack.
The new bullets headphones are quiet nice and battery last long enough.

Thank god I upgraded to the OP6, the lack of a headphone jack wouldn't have a major disruption on me but it would be very annoying.

Why would it be annoying though? It's more cumbersome carrying around headphones with a huge wire and can be quite annoying holding the phone with them plugged in trying to watch anything.

And you'll have your adapter so plug that onto your headphones if you need to used wired ones.

Really only a matter of time before USB-C headphones are the norm anyway.
