Is the general consensus that people are saving their free hit? Still have mine & very tempted to use it.
    Team would look like:
    DDG, Elliot
    Mee, Otamendi, Vertonghen, Masuaku, Dunk
    Hazard, Arnautovic, Eriksen, Sterling, Lanzini
    Kane, DCL, Quaner

Just not sure if Lanzini/Arnie would be worth it. Team is currently
    DDG, Elliott
    Mee, Maguire, Alonso, Gomez, Dunk
    Hazard, Salah, Coutinho, Sterling, RLC
    Kane, DCL, Quaner

For your free hit you're getting Ottamendi/Vertongen/Lanzini over Alonso/Gomez/RLC?

Definietly not worth it. There'll be a week someday you'll have only 7 starters.

This would be only for the double game week (GW22), then it would go back to my normal team. That’s how the free hit works isn’t it?
Just trying to decide if it would be worth using it then or maybe saving it for later. Can’t see Lanzini/Arnie coming in with big hauls tbh but I’m unsure

Free hit is for the weekend of the City v Chelsea Carabao cup final where your missing 4/5 of your most expensive players

Kane has a blank this week. Why any talk of sickness if no game till next week? Must be more than a head cold.

Next gameweek starts on Monday. Spurs are playing Tuesday, so not too far away at all.

Kane wasn’t training. Pochettino was asked why. Nothing more to it.

EDIT: Pochettino specifically said ‘it’s no big issue’

Just the 24 or so hours to decide whether I should be looking at playing this now (I have no Spurs players and only one West Ham defender) or in GW31.

The City game tomorrow will be a big decider for me. If Sterling or De Bruyne are rested tomorrow, I'll have great confidence in them playing at home to Watford. If they play tomorrow, I'll be very worried about them (and not having too many DGW players) and will probably feel like I need to go with it.

If Sterling and De Bruyne were to play tomorrow and Aguero was to be rested (meaning he would be very likely to play at home to Watford), I don't think I could resist a free hit of 6 DGW players and Aguero + 4.

IMO the home game against West Brom means West Ham are a realistic enough DGW prospect after all.

    Contemplating this myself too.

Can also see the merits of a TC on Kane.

Have 2 FTs, so may just do Dilva + Christensen > Eriksen + Verthongen.
May do Groß > Arnie for a -4.

Eugh, no idea what to do...

That's one way to use. Not the only way.

This assumption that free hit is for blank GWs, end of story, is limiting.

While it could be very handy to avoid planning for a blank, there's more upside using it in a DGW imo.

I’d be very tempted with the free hit for the upcoming gameweek, but would also like to TC Kane.

Anyone ran anything to suggest which would likely be more profitable?

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,294 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

Used 2 FTs to bring in another 2 Spurs Players, in addition to Kane. Other than giving the captaincy to him, thats about it for DGW planning. Holding off on the TC for now, and hoping there will be another chance later in the season.

    Using the free hit myself.

Will be triple Spurs double West Ham I think.

Will update after the games today with what I decide

Does anyone know what type of DGW teams we may see towards the end of the season please?

If you look at gw 31 fa qf and gw 34 fixtures and gw 35 fa sf and gw 37 fixtures. Then you also have two fixtures in gw 28 that could be called off for the Carling cup final these probably moved to dgw34. In effect the games cancelled in 31 moved to dgw34 and games cancelled in 35 moved to dgw 37. The rescheduling of the gw 28 Carling cup final games makes it a bit more complicated ..

Starting to consider the free hit more and more given the fact that it's certain that Jesus is gone for at least this week.

The way I'd be currently lining up for this week:

    Pickford
    Ogbonna (DGW) Dunk Robertson
Hazard Salah Sterling Richarlison Arnautovic (DGW)
    Kane (DGW & TC) Morata

    Subs: Speroni, Christensen, Calvert-Lewin, Naughton

It looks like a low scoring week on paper, with Hazard and Morata having tough games away to Arsenal, Salah likely missing, Richarlison away to City. I could maybe do a -4 to bring Son in for Hazard as I might move him on anyway, but that's about it.

My potential free hit team would look like the below:

    Adrian (DGW)
    Ogbonna (DGW) Verthongen (DGW) Morgan
Son (DGW) Arnautovic (DGW) De Bruyne Sterling Mahrez
    Kane (DGW & C) Aguero

    Subs: Speroni, Dunk, Quaner, Long

6 DGW players. 3 City players at home to Watford. 2 Leicester at home to Huddersfield (which is the only other fixture I fancy having coverage in to be honest).

The thing I like a lot about going the free hit route is although my current team has a tough week coming up, the following week is canny and I'll likely bring in a Newcastle defender with my free transfer, so when my free hit expires my team would revert to the below:

    Pickford (tot)
Christensen (LEI) Lascelles (SWA) Ogbonna (hud)/Dunk (wba)
Hazard (LEI) Salah (MCI) Sterling (liv) Richarlison (SOU) Zaha (BUR)
    Kane (EVE) Morata (LEI)

Subs: Speroni (BUR), Calvert-Lewin (tot), Naughton (new), Robertson (MCI)

That looks a solid gameweek on paper and it would allow me a week to re-assess before deciding on my next course of action, maybe hitting a mini-wildcard for a -8 to -12 the following week if it comes to it.

What do people think? Is it worth it? Too much faith in West Ham? Will Son or even Adrian start both games? Is Mahrez the best midfielder in that sort or price range this GW? Would TC Kane and the aforementioned team give my free hit team a run for it's money? So many questions. Any help would be much appreciated! :)

I like the free hit team yeah. I have been planning free hit this week for a while so glad to see a few more on board.

Keeping KdB is one I hadn't considered. There is a call to be made between doubling on Spurs mids or taking (probably safer, but lower ceiling) points from the likes of Vert. I was in Son and Eriksen with no Spurs defs.

Otherwise I had a very similar team, I had Maguire over Morgan and Masuaka (Cresswell if I can afford) over Ogbonna.

Pity Aguero didn't get the rest he was due.

What's your full free hit team mate? I'd be very interested to see what way you've gone.

I'm wanting to do it but just can't help but feeling there's risks over Adrian and Son as to whether they'll start the two games or not, and also whether someone like De Bruyne will unexpectedly get rested, but he'll get the week off next week in the cup so he should be okay. Son is the main one really, especially with Lamela back on the scene. If I was all but guaranteed starts in every game from the team I have posted, I'd probably all but pull the trigger now, but you never really have that these days anyway I suppose. There's always a risk.

I do think a well executed free hit could really propel me up my main private leagues and it's probably this and my TC that is my real hope of gaining significant ground. I've already seen guys ahead of me using the free hit for the likes of -4's and -8's so the potential could be huge for me if I can take advantage.

    It's a big call.

EDIT - time to re-think De Bruyne now anyway! :pac:

Don't think there's any doubt about Adrian. Hart will get the cup to state his case imo. Spurs fans I've consulted reckon son should play both. Maybe an early sub in one.

Still tinkering, will post more later.

If I was going well I might resist but I've had a few bad weeks and am down to 800k OR so need a boost, I think combined with the Salah, KDB, Jesus injuries and a few possible suspensions coming, using it this week could be a massive +ev move.

Is this the time for a risk? Betting against Kane basically.
