I don't know why I find the livery so beautiful.

Yeah it's cool on track. But I think dark navy cars need some pops of colour or else they blend into the background. Some traditional red bull red and yellow will surely be added. It could end up looking like the red bull Sauber of the early 90s.

The red bull f3 team runs a similar livery. I saw max verstappen driving it at Silverstone in 2014

I know the car's ride height is nowhere set up for racing as that's a photo shoot, still...looks like we've got SUVs invading F1 as well now

Is that just setup for the shakedown or does it suggest a soft suspension that will dip towards the ground at higher speeds under greater downforce?

Might just be setup to get a few laps done without any complications. Need the shaggin Renault to hit the ground running this year.

Now that is also a possibility - with a non-linear load specifically studied to keep the car at specific heights depending on speed. That'd be pushing the boundaries of "moveable aerodynamic devices", but it's Adrian Newey, the king of pushing boundaries.

But certainly, that's also a quick "let's get her doing a few laps to take pictures" setup as well :)

The livery reminds me of the 1994 Sauber.

    Was it this one below?

This is the one I was thinking of. 1995.

The first thing I thought of when seeing the RB14's sidepods was the Modena 291.

Love the livery...I utterly despise the halo, I can't emphasis that enough.

Coupled with the fact that the RB looks crazy with the aero bits, I have a horrible feeling the racing might suffer more this year.

I'm not sure what time the Sauber one is, but they normally take place in the morning.

    Renault launch is at 3PM.

That’s cool. I like helmets with fewer colours. Ones with lots of colours are difficult to tell apart.

Same here. Modern designs are just awful.

The designs from the 70's looked amazing and were easy to distinguish. Always loved Carlos Paces black helmet with yellow arrows.

Livery looks well from the back. It is indeed a bit chubby. A tradition Alfa didn't want to break! :p

The livery looks fairly sharp although it highlights how thin their overall sponsorship portfolio is and how reliant they are on the Alfa deal. With this years engine I hope they will be closer to the field. I'm a big fan of Leclerc, hope to see him in a good midfield battle.

The biggest flaw in that team is Marcus Ericsson

Just noticed the tiny wing on the top of the halo. Is this the first aero mod we've seen by a team so far?

Some teams already tested with that idea, expect to see a lot of stuff on it this year.

How much involvement will Ferrari have with Sauber this season? Is it purely new engines in exchange for Alfa advertisement or are they now running the show?

I'd have thought the regs would have been strict on not putting aero on Halo, and Halo being a standard design - which would be a safety only device.

Not sure I like the idea of a safety device being 'gamed' like that.

Ferrari is their title sponsor ( under alpha Romeo) they also supply the engine and probably other parts. They supply Charles leclerc. And I’m sure all that is more than enough to make sure sauber votes with Ferrari on sporting matters.

For example, I bet sauber will stop calling for budget restrictions even though sauber would be one of the greatest beneficiaries of budget cap.

The FIA are actually in favour of using aero fairings on the halo suggesting it will make them look more attractive :D

All cars will have them and they will probably change during the season.

For anyone who uses freesat to watch the f1 - bad news. It's just been announced that Channel 4 HD is to leave the platform from Thursday (link). The SD version will remain. :(

Looks like they are leaving Freesat but should still be Free-to-air so you should still be able to tune it in unless they go encrypted.

Do you have a source for that? Thought the question as to whether it would be FTA after Thursday hadn't been answered. Either way it's a pain. So much handier to series link the F1 season, and then not have to panic if you've missed a start time or whatever.

Would the teams teams be allowed to run air through the internal of the halo I wonder or is it a specified solid design?
