Just got the email for HEO, I'm number 25. Anyone know how the process works, is it a thing where everyone being interviewed gets on the panel, the interview just determines where on the panel you go?

No, interview is next phase of recruitment. They will interview top 20 and see who does well and place from there.

I am out. Placed outside the 20 cut off point and I doubt they will call more then 20 for interview in a second batch. Don't care too much now anyway as I am high up on an Interdepartmental panel.

Hi All. Got an e-mail today saying I have been placed 17th and a follow up one inviting me for interview the week after next. I applied for the Infrastructure stream.

Having spent my whole career so far in the private sector, I'm completely new to the public sector recruitment process and have no idea what the next steps are. Sorry in advance for all the questions.......
    1. Whilst there is obviously no guarantee, is being called for interview an indication that you have a good chance on being placed on a panel?
    2. How long are you placed on a panel for and is there a "normal time" between being placed on a panel and being offered a position?
    3. Can you be specific about the location you would like to be placed? I'm based in the West so only 1 of the locations suits.
    4. Any interview tips?

    Cheers

They are only calling the top 20 forward for interview though and as this competition is for the filling of places in only 2 Depts I doubt they will call more.

Anyone know when we should expect outcome of interview? I think it was after Easter sometime?

    1. Pretty good chance once you don't blow any particular area and get a fail mark - panel could move fast if other departments decide to use it but this does not always happen.
    2.Often 2 years
    3. It is very unlikely that a new recruit will get to pick a location unless you have very good technical skills but you could be lucky.
    4. Focus on the competencies listed and if totally confused don't be afraid to clarify which competency they are asking about in a question.

So the choice seems to be agriculture or social protection.  Revenue are either filled or don't currently have any positions.
So thats Agriculture in Kildare Street or Social Protection in Store street I think for Dublin based positions?  Anyone any thoughts on the different departments IT investments?

    HEO

Curious procedure.  It seems when you pick a department you are disqualified from the other departments panel.  I may have misunderstood that part as I was caught out by it at the time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 122 ✭✭divide_by_zero

Are the HEO positions just Dublin, I thought Cellbridge, Portlaoise and Sligo were options. Did anyone get offered positions there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭machalla

All Dublin so far as I can tell.  Over time more jobs might appear that will be offered to the panel though.
