I am not being wise after the event but I didn't think we would win before the game. We should have won it last year and let it slip. I fear we could now turn into the Mayo of hurling. It's only a game I know but it's very upsetting.

2 points in the second half is actually inexplicable.

questions need to be asked after this. How do you score only 2 points in the second half ?

The stuff they did with Gary Keegan clearly meant nothing to them today

Fair play to Tipp they really did a number on us today. We deserve all the **** and all the flack after this one.

This is the sort of defeat that could set Cork hurling back years. This all Ireland drought is starting to become a serious milestone around our necks now.

League champions, Munster champions and **** the bed in the all Ireland final. I'm just grateful for all the great memories previous Cork teams have given me growing up.

I honestly think we could go at least another decade without an all Ireland now. A defeat like that is bound to leave psychological scars.

I think a reinvention of that team is needed now! It showed against Limerick they’re fragile. Same happened against Clare last year only Clare nearly let it slip after leaving us back into the game! Clare proven this year they were a flash in the pan. Cork are turning into perennial chokers. 21 years without an all Ireland in hurling 15 in football! A county with our population and history should be winning all irelands on a regular enough basis. Well deserved Tipp victory today, but I think that just opens the door for limerick again. They’ll rattle off a couple more all irelands. We’ll probably be there but until they win the AI! No Sports radio or tv for me for a long time now! Need to switch off completely from it.
also I reckon Pat Ryan will step down now. I don’t think he should be his after a tough time this year personally and this probably will have taken a lot out of him.

3 lost finals in 5 years. 2 of those were hammerings. We're no longer winners.

Im glad I didnt go to the game.

There is simply no excuse for that second half performance today.

The first half performance wasnt good but the second was just disgraceful.

No heart, no composure, no tactics.

These players simply dont have it mentally, and they likely never will.

Yeah I fear the same. We have a huge pool of underage talent from the minor and U-20 All-Ireland wins but still no senior All-Ireland's to show for it.

as a Manchester United fan, Cork are really really bringing ptsd to all the sports I enjoy. All I need now is Munster and Ireland to win sweet fa for years again! That’ll be a full set!

the melee at half time rattled them! 100% Tipp had the upper hand then! Again Tipp 100% deserved that win! Liam Cahill with a tactical masterclass.

2 points in halftime. No words.

2 points scored in the second half of an All Ireland Final - is that a low scoring record?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,578 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

The inability of the sideline to react and adjust when Tipp started to get on top at the start of the second half was something to behold. Absolutely hadn't a clue what to do and just let it happen.

Lack of warriors in this team. Or any to be honest. No lack of talent just toughness and grit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭King Power Fox

There was 15 players to suss out the danger and try to swing the momentum back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,286 ✭✭✭lukin

Darragh McCarthy was playing in his first AI final today and played like a veteran. Alan Connolly and Brian Hayes in contrast were playing in their second AI final and went missing, just as they did last year. Why is it that our young players are so mentally weak?

They seemed to battle hard against Limerick in the Munster final.

I dont know what happens them when they go to Croke Park though.

I always believed that there was a pride, passion and spirit to Cork hurling. That being a Cork hurler is about performing on the big stage and winning things.

That belief i had in Cork hurling is now in tatters. It's been ripped to shreds by Clare, Limerick and Tipperary teams in all Ireland finals. This was worse than the 2021 all Ireland for me back then we met an absolute machine at the peak of their powers.

This time around we were the best team all year. Six points up at half time and we completely collapsed in that second half. This is my lowest moment supporting Cork in both codes.

Normally i take defeats in my stride. We'll put it right the next day etc, but i just feel dead and broken on the inside now. Those lads try their best but they don't have the belief or bottle to win the all Ireland sadly.😔

Cork didn’t learn their lesson from the Limerick Dublin match , thought they had only to show up

    Galway scored 0-0 in 1887 so it's not a total record :)

3-14 v 0-02 in the second half shows we have Zero leaders on the pitch.

    We fully collapsed.

Collins must have cost us 2-02 he usually only costs us 2 or3 points.

Full back is clearly an issue.

Hoggie Cannot take long range frees. Start of second half Dalton should have taken that free to go 7 clear. Hoggie has bearly scored a long range free all year while Dalton has barely missed one.

    Worst Second half performance ever.

    Disgraceful.

But have we really been that impressive all year? We only won three games before today; Waterford, Tipp and Dublin. The Tipp games turned out to be meaningless.

I dont believe that is true.

Why would they only believe they had to show up, they havent won an All Ireland in 20 years, the team has not shown up for alot of finals since. All the pressure was on Cork, they were 5-2 on.

    Tipp were underdogs.

Cork would have been confident that if they played well they would win, but it was going to be a tough game.

They needed to play well and take their chances.

The anti Cork bias on this forum is something else.
