Jesus the extra panel members, no fear of Cork hurling! And there’s more that not included that could definitely step up!

Glad he stayed with the same team. Some great options if things need to be changed or we need to push on to get the win. The bench will be crucial for us.

I saw Jackie Tyrell saying he thinks Tipp will let us have the ouckouts and crowd their defence to stop us from getting goals. I think they might do this but they are caught either way as I see us winning a shootout so they will have trouble either way. Giving us a platform will be very dangerous but I can kind of see the logic.

Once we show up and get going, I don't see us being stopped. Of course anything can happen in a final but thats the way I see it.

I see the Echo is reporting that John Cleary will be staying on with the footbllers. Can't help but think there should have been a change but who would take over?

Does anyone know where the Cork team stay night before or do they travel up on the morning??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,455 ✭✭✭Cork2021

they’ll stay in the Burlington as they always do

Would have thought Cork footballers had a reasonably good year.

Gave Kerry enough of it in Munster, beat Roscommon, ran Dubs close.

For me they appear to be hitting near enough where their ceiling is. They are an athletic, physical, committed bunch, short on top quality, who can make things difficult for a better team.

Tipp unchanged as well on paper

Think that might change before throw in though

I'd feel more confident if it was a team like Waterford or Galway we were playing in the final (no disrespect to them). Tipp are being written off on the basis that they were hopeless last year. But they have won a few AI's at U-20 and minor level in the last few years and that is starting to bear fruit in the senior side now.

Nobody in here is really writing off Tip. Cork are the better team, there's not much doubt about that. That breeds confidence in the result to some extent but we all know the better team doesn't always win.

If Cork turn up I fully expect them to win. But alot can happen in a game - it's not won until you are ahead and the ref blows the final whistle.

Fully agreed that the quality isn’t there to compete with the best on a regular basis and also agree that we’ve don’t well to compete with Kerry on a couple of occasions.

I generally think there’s been a lack of progress over his term though and woefully inconsistent. We could run Kerry close one week and go out and lose someone like Louth the next.

Also, I’m no tactician but we seemed so predictable in attack over the last few years. The new rules have changed that slightly but still. Feel like a new manager might be worth a shot. No disrespect to Cleary who’s a great Corkman.

    Hi Folks

I have 2 tickets for Sunday available. They're lower Davin. Will need to meet in person only in Dublin today or Saturday. Message me if interested

"Henry's was open the last time we won!"

At we can't be accused of never laughing at ourselves 😂

We failed to get promoted and didn't get to the last eight of the all Ireland so i would say no we didn't. I don't think we've even launched one decent attempt at promotion from division two since going down there almost a decade ago. Having the odd big performance here and there without really building on it, has been the story of Cork football post Conor Counihan unfortunately. Having Steven Sherlock back for next year would be a huge boost. It's not a bad team but it lacks firepower up front.

I'm sure Tipp would feel the same and we're not short on underage success ourselves. We just need to translate it into success at senior level now.

I respect his effort and all but he needs to change the coach at the very least. Kevin Walsh is more of a negative and defensive coach totally unsuited for the new rule changes brought in this year.

Please god we get over the line. The last time i felt that Cork would win all the time was during the Donal O'Grady/John Allen era. Of course we didn't have the platform that is social media back then to brag about our success.🤣

I think the Cork team was out in the Citywest hotel for the 2006 final. Kilkenny must have booked the Burlington before us back then. An early and ominous sign on how that final was going to go i suppose!

Go to about one hour and thirteen minutes in. A little something to wet the appetite for Sunday. I was only 15 years old back then. Hopefully we get to do it all again on Monday evening even if the old down McCurtain Street, rounding Barrys Corner and heading down Patricks Street route was banned ages ago.

I was a year younger than you at that time but was a special moment. The only way I could see Cork losing tomorrow if they get stage fright. I hope there is enough hurt there from years gone by to finish the job on Sunday and please god Hoggie Lehane And Harnedy get the All Ireland medal they deserve. Best of luck to all Cork folk in here travelling to the game tomorrow.

So Cork getting " stage friight " is the only chance Tipp have of winning! I'd be pinning that on the Tipp dressing room wall. Anyway best of luck to both teams and safe journey to all supporters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,270 ✭✭✭Seadin

I would go to say that if Tipp win Cork will have underperformed to a degree. Yes stage fright happens and can happen more so when one team is trying to chase history. Not underestimating Tipp at all but I think from what I have seen from both teams this year Cork so far have been the better team. But I know anything can happen in a final and we all know Tipp aren't showing up to fulfill the fixture.

I’m heading up in the morning without a ticket for the first time ever. Far from ideal but I know I’d regret it if I got offered a ticket on the day after choosing to stay at home.
So on the off chance anyone hears of a ticket to spare I’d be massively grateful.

    Up the rebels.

Been to nearly all the matches this year but haven't managed to get a ticket for tomorrow either. Not getting that season ticket is looking like a terrible decision now....

Any spares going let me know, would be eternally grateful

Safe journey to everyone tomorrow. If this Cork team plays to it's full potential then we're going to win. Rebels Abu Up The Rebels!

That's fair comment. I expect cork to win but as a general rule tipp tend to play well In finals and if cork are off it, could be big upset.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,543 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

Cork last played a proper match in the Munster final. That semi final against Dublin was just pretty much a training exercise in terms of match intensity. Tipp had a savage battle against Kilkenny in their semi final, but i still think Cork will be ready and raring to go for this one. Tipp on the surface level seem to be the more inexperienced team, but as someone pointed out to me a few weeks ago they still have a couple of their all Ireland winning players from 2016 and 2019 on the team.
