    Offaly it is.

A pity as Portlaoise is so much handier to get to.

Laois should really have won that game though

    3-14 to 0-6. That's beyond disgraceful.

    Diabolical minor team.

The players are good enough to do a lot better so I am throwing the blame on the management and their setup.

At no stage this year did the really play like a team. First half v Clare they showed promise but that was literally it.

Yes that margin means there's something very wrong with those in charge. This is another crushing defeat . The players are clearly not responding to what they are saying and/or they can't fix it

I'm sure they gave it their best and we can be happy with their efforts.

The minute I have said it in the past you said Im negative but all good when you say it. Double standards but Il leave it at that.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,941 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

I had a good chuckle at that in fairness.

The very vast majority of your posts in the past have been negative, after nearly every game of football or hurling at any and every grade that we've lost.

But I'll leave it at that.

This has worked out nicely for us now in the hurling. Offaly next should be straight forward and then Dublin after being hammered today will be in fairly low spirits.

Anything can happen but its good to be in our position now.

Hurlers should be winning the next 2 games in fairness. No excuses.

If we beat Offaly where do we think the Dublin game could be? Probably Clare v wexford the same day. Croker or thurles?

The Dublin v (cork/offaly) game has already been decided weeks back. Thurles

That was truly the worst Cork minor football performance I've ever had the misfortune to watch. Totally outclassed by Mayo. No doubt Micheal O Sulivan will again blame the players like he did after the munster final without taking any responsibility for his own hopeless management. He needs to have the decency to step down immediately with his entire management team and scouts or be sacked if he doesn't do so. All the stories coming out of the camp came to fruition today. Too much S & C. Not enough skills and shooting practice. Favouritism in picking players from West Cork instead of picking the best players in the county. There must be better coaches in the county. A complete waste of time for those young lads and what they have sacrificed in training squads over the last few years

    Couldn't agree more.

I've been at many Rebel Óg training sessions over the past 3 years at this age group. So little football and an emphasis on SandC, gym work, how many pullups you can do and all that stuff. I've seen Miskella etc over the past 3 or 4 years and there are some lovely footballers at this grade but that team and how they are set up was absolutely Devoid of any footballing foundation from what they are used to. Go to a minor game in the weeks ahead, Ballincolling v Douglas for example and you will see footballers playing very good football - the Cork setup was not conducive for young fellas who simply want to play foootball.

The players are definitely capable of better and that is an absolute fact, the management must take the blame.

What time is Cork v Dublin on at in hurling quartet final??

Assuming Cork beat offaly which I accept is not to be underestimated...

Will probably know once the Munster final is over. GAA.ie are fast enough to update fixtures.

would hate to see it but our game v Galway a few years ago had a 1 o'clock throw in so anything possible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭sonnyblack

Ballincollig, Douglas, Nemo Rangers, Carrigaline, Glanmire are the Premier clubs at Minor level football in the county. The entire county squad should be selected from those clubs to have any chance

There are others, Barrs, Eire Og, Mallow etc but 1 of the Rebel Og divisions contain the majority of the above. The need to have 23 different clubs represented is just nuts.

There will always be a star in a smaller club of course but I reckon at least 10 players should be starting from the teams above.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,741 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Could they at least give the camera lens a wipe?!!

As expected, Cork well in control, playing well in nasty enough conditions.

    ht Cork 3-09 v 1-00 Laois

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,741 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Feel sorry for Laois ladies as they are totally outclassed today.

Slightly annoyed to see Leo O'Connor say Offaly beaten by a more physical team last year in the U20. Not really giving that Cork team credit. I thought that at the time too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 777 ✭✭✭Rega

Cork were criticised for years for not embracing the physical side of the game. I was thrilled to see that team put it up to other teams physically. Even better to hear all the wailing and moaning after the final. Grow up lads.

Those Offaly boys will see what physicality is all about when they come up against some of the teams in Leinster next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,741 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Well we play them next as well………..!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 777 ✭✭✭Rega

True. I was in Dublin yesterday and met a few offaly fans after their win. They're having some time of it the last 7 days or so.

It'd be good to have a strong offaly back... next year!

Some beating to give the Laois ladies 6-13 v 1-05

Some wayward shooting meant it really should have been more one sided- if possible

Cork moved the ball quickly throughout which was great to see.

Subs got a good run out too.
