Really poor first half. We keep losing possession in midfield so defence under constant pressure.

Wexford look sharper and hungry all around

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,091 ✭✭✭zetecescort

6 down with 10 min left. Playing better in the 2nd half but not getting the scores. Wexford well deserve their lead

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,184 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Jeez that's some hiding from Wexford.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,504 ✭✭✭The White Feather

No complaints at all there unlike last night! Wexford superior.

Management should have reacted quicker in the first half when we couldn't get past midfield. Fixed it in second half and game more even but when you are far behind at this level, its too hard to come back.

    Fairly bad performance overall.

    Got what they deserved.

From my experience of standing at goals post , your eyes can be drawn towards the incoming attackers

That was poor from minors. First time in while in hurling where overall minors looked poor. In fairness can happen just hope it's not start of trend for few years.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,965 ✭✭✭awaywithyou

Tipp certainly more composed.. they were always able to get a score when required... Cork were playing with more intensity... will b disappointed with tipp goal.. wides were a shame... some fine players on that Cork team..

AAt Least this might quieten the talk of having Ben Connor as senior manager... Ben reminds me of Liam cahill on the sideline... that approach may work at underage... but as Liam is finding out now it doesn't work at senior

I felt giving the minor managers job to John Meyler was bit of a mistake. He's been around various coaching set ups over the years. That other Frank Murphy lackey Seanie McGrath is a selector as well i think

Great Cork hurling men and they try their best etc but it's time to give some fresher and newer voices a go at the job imo.

It's time to stop throwing the pro Frank old guard here there and everywhere.

Anyway hopefully the results go our way today. Going out of the championship just when we're coming into form would be devastating.

After the first 2 games we are in probably the best position we could be, especially the fixtures being as they are.

If Limerick and Waterford draw today it'll be a right kick in the nuts.

Only 9/1 for the draw. Thought it would be around 12's

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,427 ✭✭✭Seadin

Could very well happen. I just wouldn't be surprised.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,427 ✭✭✭Seadin

Totally agree with that. He has been around for years and had his chance. When he got the job I knew that be a backwards step for Cork hurling. Hopefully it won't be detrimental to Cork hurling when they have been on the upward curve over the last few years underage.

I hope whatever happens today that the results go in favour of Cork hurling. They need this chance to progress.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,427 ✭✭✭Seadin

Exactly. I thought the same, I thought Tipp always were able to get a score when Cork were coming back, Tipp just always managed to put something on the score board when Cork were coming back at them and put plenty of pressure on Cork when they were shooting for scores which explains the 16 wides. Cork certainly could have won it all the same but I wasn't to be. I think Ben probably needs a few more years experience before going for the senior job. It's a massive step up in fairness.

Hopefully it was just a once off but this trend was happening in the 00's and 10's and it did no favours for Cork hurling. The first problem there is Meyler, he isnt the solution to bring good Cork teams through the ranks. They start getting beaten underage stays in the mentality of players right through then.

Lads, ye are being a bit hard on Ben O'Connor! He has only lost 2 games as U20 manager. Won it all last year and beaten only by Tipp twice. really only once and it was interesting Frank Murphy was mentioned as we need him now! That Tipp match needs to be replayed and I will be amazed if we don't hear anything about it tomorrow or this week. Cork Gaa need to be proactive on this. Of course though O'Connor needs more time before step up but he is going very well.

Though I would have to agree about Meyler. That performance wasn't good enough.

On todays matches, we will have to see what happens. But imagine if there are draws and time is ticking into injury time, and the backs just pass the ball along the back and to the keeper. Forwards don't press and 5 mins go by!! It would be a conspiracy!! 😝

Horrible feeling this is going to be a draw. 🙈

Not today thankfully. We march on.

Thank God we're through - poor Davey lol. Hopefully that's the last time I'll be shouting for Limerick this year! Onwards and upwards now.

That will do nicely, another game anyway, we'll take it.

Limerock were never not winning that game. They pushed on when they needed to.

Laois or Offaly next, then beaten Leinster finalists

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,504 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Great to be through. I'd say there will be a huge buzz in the training sessions.

Have to treat Laois or Offaly with respect though and no slip ups

Have to say lads i think Cork have a great chnce to be getting to.the All Ireland final this year. This could be the year to end the famine...

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,485 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

What a handy run for Cork to the semis now

Winners of Offaly/Laois and then (probably) Dublin

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,427 ✭✭✭Seadin

Cork just need to focus on one game at a time and see where that gets us. Be great if we could get there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,427 ✭✭✭Seadin

We need to make sure we win each game first. Dublin Kilkenny will not be easy games if we get past Loais/Offaly which we should be beating with a bit to spare.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,963 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

i would give dublin a great chance in the leinster final , to go down to galway in a do or die championship game and win like that is serious , they should have beaten kilkenny last week too , no mugs with a full team

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

I think we can give the all Ireland a right old rattle. Limerick will be out to gain some revenge on us, but the rest of the teams still in the championship are very much beatable imo.

ye have an ingredient that works perfectly against them , speed , the 9-98 in 4 games is a concern for cork though

We be out to get more revenge on them for 2018 semi final and 2021 final.

If Cork play like their last two performances no team will beat them but if they play like they did v Waterford and huge parts of Clare game we can be easily defeated. I just hope they keep the momentum going now and if they do they be hard to beat.
