They've still yet to beat us in an all Ireland final, but yeah 2009 2011 2012 2015 and now 2022, they have the measure of us for sure. I think this was a game Cork threw away though, through a bad start, conceding a soft goal and bad wides. In those other games Galway were way better than us.

Would he have got in the 70s full forward line of Charlie Mac, Ray Cummins or Seanie O'Leary or the later line of Hennessey, JBM and Seanie?

The management lost us that by having Hoggie on the bench imo.

He's right that cost us a win but sure don't criticise the Cork hurlers, a trend that has come into Cork supporters agenda for years now. They can't be open for constructive criticism.

I think you are right. We will never a better chance of winning against them as of today.

There's a trend emerging with Galway and years ending in two. 2002 2012 2022, Galway have knocked Cork out of the championship, in all three of those years. Hopefully we get Liam McCarthy back to leeside within the next three years. I never thought Cork would go almost twenty years without winning a senior hurling all Ireland, but here we are.

Constructive criticism is one thing but to blame a mistake in the 1st minute for losing a game is ridiculous tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

If things don't change fast in Cork gaa we will go 30 years no problem without an All Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

So you think that was acceptable mistake to make at this level of hurling. No its not and I for one would never have that useless keeper in goals for Cork ever again. Just not good enough.

He’s not great yes, but there’s so many variables in a match that you can’t just pinpoint the fault on him

There's a few players there now that must walk away. Collins, Cahalane Lehane Kingston Cadagan, Hoggie and Harnedy, we aren't winning an Ireland when these lads are there. Some great servants some not so good buy they must walk away after today along with Kiernan Kingston Sully and the rest of the Cork management and selectors, all have had their chance and we aren't progressing any further while these all stick around.

Shane Kingston walking away? are you having a laugh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

Yes he's not good enough. A hit and miss player tbh.

I think with those all Ireland winning u20's the raw materials are there, and of course the minors won an all Ireland last year as well. We need to both toughen up (i seem to be saying this every year at this stage!) and smarten up tactically though. No team wins an all Ireland without a dominant half back line, and as i pointed out earlier Cork haven't had one in nearly twenty years now.

I really hope Kieran Kingston realises that it's time to go. Having our best forward in Hoggie, on the subs bench today was unforgiveable really. As i said earlier Pat Ryan is the heir apparent for the job, but we have a habit in Cork of always picking the wrong man for the job!

Here we go again. Same conversation every year. Throw out the players that aren't good enough to win an All Ireland, assume there's another 15 hiding somewhere in Cork that are

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,658 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Better team and we lost. I'm confident we have good future but the management need to go now. They have had plenty of time. I'm not too pessimistic as we still have plenty young players plus limerick would have beaten us in semi.

Get it right in winter and we go close next year.

We do have the all Ireland winning minor and u20's though. It's no use having the hurlers though, when the manager can't set the team up tactically or organise a defence, and when he leaves our best forward on the bench. Cork have been a poorly managed and coached team, for the past fifteen years imo. John Allen was the last tactically astute manager we had.

Good man yourself come in here for your one post a year reply in this forum

What do you expect? Are you missing something in the ceann??? Are you happy to see Cork not performing every year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭Widdensushi

How many posts a year on the thread do you have to have to not get abuse, everyone one is entitled to an opinion or it would be an ever decreasing circle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,598 ✭✭✭crossman47

I certainly wouldn't say that about Cadogan (very good when he came on), Kingston (always useful as an impact sub if not more) and probably Cahalane (much abused but very good today). Unfortunately time has caught up with Harnedy and Horgan.

It’s odd to think back now to 2013 and those 30 seconds away from an All Ireland were the closest he would come to winning it. That wasn’t even a great team but had a good run and almost pulled off a snatch and grab on the day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,357 ✭✭✭zetecescort

in camogie, Cork beat Waterford 0-12 to 0-8 to secure a semifinal spot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,311 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

I think if we got past Limerick in 2018, then we would have beaten Galway in the final that year. Cork hurling is still yet to recover, from that defeat to Limerick in that infamous 2018 semi final.

Was a better team than 2013 by a distance. Let a 6 point lead slip in the last 10 made too. Nickie Quaid had a great game and I think Cadogan got called for overcarrying towards the end too which they pointed which was a clear ref mistake.

I’m telling ye - Davy Fitzgerald after making a lot of friends in a Cork GAA over the year (which is all he’ll be doing) with the Camogie team. Doing it without pay

Cork fans should hope he gets the Dublin job first, because if Cork County Board lost their marbles a bit more, they may take him as Manager

I don't think they will ever go outside the county. More chance of us winning Sam this year than Davy getting the job here.

We may as well pack it in altogether, if they appoint that head the ball as manager. As i said before we have plenty of good people, who are actually from Cork to do the job. A management team of Pat Ryan, Fergal Ryan, Wayne Sherlock and Ben O'Connor would be ideal. We have the hurlers and the talent, but the sideline are a bit (are more than a bit lacking actually!) lacking in the tactics department.

A Galway fan said on the Galway thread, thank god they left Horgan out. That say's it all really! I respect Kieran Kingstons dedication and effort to the Cork cause, but it's just not good enough sadly. Both Kingston and John Meyler have been two bad managers. JBM in his second coming didn't do that bad a job in hindsight, but he wasn't as good as Donal O'Grady and John Allen in the tactics department.

As for Gerald McCarthy and Denis Walsh, you have two great players for Cork there, but both were very poor managers, although Gerald of course was our trainer in 1990. Ah yes 1990 the year we ruled Ireland in both codes. 1990 was thirty two years ago now though, and we haven't had much success in both codes since then, in terms of winning senior all Irelands sadly.

Lehane has had more than enough chances at this stage, it's a shame because he was a promising prospect at one stage. Leaving Hoggie on the bench was a disgrace really. That was the losing of the match right there. Kieran Kingston is a nice man, but as a manager he is clueless. I hope he has the decency and the courtesy to resign now.

maybe i saw the game diffrent as a netrual but some of the calls today made little sense , tim o'mahoney in the full forward line and one of the most accurate free takers in the game on the bench made no sense

galway playing a 2 man full forward line in the second half and cork persisting in keeping all 6 players back , this added with the fact they had another 7 players in between both 65,s and one man double marked up front when they were chasing the game

if horgan had started cork would have won , his frees would have kept cork ticking over , duggan for clare has been fairly poor for clare since the game against ye a month ago but he's frees saved us today as we were well off the pace for most of the game , he kept us in it
