If the Male counterparts competition is being run then in reality shouldn't the girls be allowed to play also?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,100 ✭✭✭The Golden Miller

Not sure about All Ireland but if they can be competitive against the big teams, they might have some chance.

Surely they are just as good as any team? When they won two Munster's recently, hurled everyone off the park. Until they collapsed against Limerick in the semi, were outplaying them too. With every year that passes and no All-Ireland, has it become psychological?

Has the mindset and expectation changed in the county too with limited success? Wording like "big teams" for example. Surely Cork are one of the biggest teams, the most successful traditionally

yeah, as they say the biggest problems seem to come from within the association

The biggest detriment to the ladies/girls game is the LGFA. The GPA merger was a step in the right direction and the sooner the LGFA merge with the GAA the better. But there are too many people with cushy numbers and a hint of power that they don't want to give up. They cry about equality and men getting preferential treatment and then go and treat their own members with utter contempt.

Absolutely the girls games should go ahead like the boys are but that's what happens when you have morons running a shambles of an organisation.

Ladies football League begins tonight on TG4 at 7:20 v Tipp

Enjoyable first half. It took a Tip goal to wake Cork up a little.
Cork scores are coming a bit easier than the Tip scores, but we had a few bad wides early on, slight wind was with Cork.
Some of the new girls are certainly not looking out of place.

O'Leary at corner forward looks a fine player

Corks fitness really blew Tip away in the second half.

I had heard they were looking very sharp in training, up in Delanys, but considering it was Tip and it was the first game, that was a convincing win.

Our defence were resolute while our forwards really put pressure on the Tip defence, could have easily scored 2 or 3 more goals.

Impressed by a few performances, none more so than Sadhbh O'Leary from Kinsale, scoring 1-03 from play.

    Cork 3-15 v 2-06 Tip

    Dublin next!!

Seamus Harnedy, Robbie O'Flynn, Shane Kingston, Declan Dalton and Colm Spillane are all out through injury.

Ger Collins the brother of Patrick gets his debut in goal. Tim O'Mahony is swapped from midfield to wing-back and Darragh Fitzgibbon goes from half-forward to midfield.

Great to see Bill Cooper back as he missed the first 2 games and he is a sub.

We are starting Daire Connery, Conor Cahalane, Shane Barrett and Alan Connolly so it will be interesting to see how they get on from the start.

Very excited to see Connolly start. Has shown glimpses of quality when be came on both games. Probably more than Barrett has to be honest but know he's also thought highly of.

Ger Collins is an interesting one. Won't be playing in goals for his club for the foreseeable so wonder how long more he'll be on the cork panel for. Eoin Davis is a very good keeper.

The Cork v Kerry Intermediate Camogie is being streamed on youtube right now.

Cork are leading 1-10 to 0-4 and its in the second half

Kerry are battling hard to be fair though

Cork won the intermediate match 2-14 to 5 points. They play Galway next and are guaranteed qualification on their group already. Kerry had a few very good players but just not enough to trouble Cork.

Ali Smith played very well for Cork and Finbarr McCarthy was very good on commentary! :D

At the first water break its Cork 1-4 to 0-4

Good goal from Alan Connolly but some very sloppy play. 5 wides and a good few from Alan Cadogan. Cork have the wind and its very strong

Scored 2-10 since the water break. Much better from Cork. Time to put in a few of the subs

Half time its Cork 3-14 Westmeath 0-9

Luke Meade, Horgan and Connolly with the Cork goals. It is really like a training match but Cork began to get going a bit later in the half.

Westmeath started well against the wind but then lost David Glinnon and Niall O'Brien to injuries who looked like their best players. Cork then pulled ahead and look in control.

Connolly looks like he has a real eye for goals which is great to see.

Great to have a player like Alan Connolly there who’s first taught it for goal! Like Shane O Donnell for Clare and Stephen Bennett in Waterford. That could make a huge difference. Also over the first 2 and a half games Tim O Mahoney is flying it and turning up all over the field. On the other side I don’t think Daire Conroy quite has it at this level

    Coleman?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,425 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Connolly with another well taken goal. Looking sharp although Westmeath are really poor today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,425 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Connery just took a long range free there.

Water break and its 7-19 to 0-9

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,425 ✭✭✭The White Feather

    Brian Turnbull taking frees now

Neither turnbull or Connery are starters so I’m guessing Coleman
