that google camera port has all the HDR+ google software trickery i believe along with other options. I just went onto XDA and downloaded it from the original thread and installed it as an APK. The just google camera from APKmirror etc doesn't have the software stuff

Worked on my OnePlus 3, I had to enable camera api 2 on my Mi Mix for it to work, just a build.prop change though. But if the Mi A1 has camera 2 api working etc it should work fine! Ah, looks like Mi A1 has support for the API, but it doesn't have it enabled by default, so yes, you need those adb commands etc, if your interested theres a great guide on how to do it here step by step. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/guide-how-to-enable-hal3-camera2api-t3747073 . Not sure how different that is vs the video, this requires bootloader unlock etc (didn't watch the video version)

After 3 weeks of use from new my mi A1 has got stripes down the screen and the colours look washed out
Has anyone else had this problems?

Ok finally got the camera installed after 2 hours.
The process is simple, but a ADB unknown driver drove me nuts.

Tried close to 10 different methods to get it working.

Found a driver installer above, it will say driver is not signed, but installed it and it worked perfect.

Huge difference in the camera in low light, well worth the upgrade, your old camera is still there if you want to use the old features like zoom.

After a bit more testing, difference in the camera is amazing in low light.

I am gutted... Finally got the phone from eglobal ebay with address pal..
I put on the screen protector that was in the box and really poor. I booted up and I though there must have been dirt under the screen protector as there were a few ghost taps..
I removed the screen protector and all seemed ok. I installed my apps, went through the trouble of changing over all my accounts on Authenticator ( a real pain).. Then all of a sudden the phone starts to act weird, I reboot it and from then on it has been living it own life..
On log in screen it will tap away 7s, 8s and 9s without end, and if you somehow manage to get into the phone, it opens up apps by itself.. I got a real scare when it opened up ebay app and started tapping on items, thank god there was no buy it now button in sight...

Anyway, now I have the real pain of trying to get this brick back to eglobal.. Just sent them a message, but as I used addresspal, no idea how this is going to work, if the phone indeed came from France and I would need to ship it back to UK first..

Lesson learned, will buy my next one from Amazon I think for €50 extra. I also found one more video on youtube of this phone having this problem, so must not be a major issue... it is just a major issue for me..

Thats a shame, i got mine from eglobal aswell the other day and yesterday i moved everything onto it and it seems to be working well,

Just seems you have been unlucky as there would be the odd faulty one produced, i'd say it could be a bit of a headache trying to get it back to them alright,

Anyway let us know how you get on.

Gorilla glass doesn't seem to be completely resistant to scratches, see here

I've gone through two broken screen protectors already on my A1, my screen is still perfect.

Not saying my screen would have broke, but if asked I'd certainly recommend a good screen protector

So Eglobal, after they sold me my broken phone, have shut down their ebay store it seems (0 items). I sent them a request for return/refund on Saturday and no response.
In the mean time I ordered a new one off amazon, paid extra to get delivery today as I will be away from tomorrow , and now they tell me it will arrive tomorrow... on to Customer Service, who are still very confident I will get it today. According to tracking the phone is still in Scotland.... Let's see... but what should have been the nice experience of a new phone is turning into a bit of a disappointment. The phone'd better be worth it..
