Coverage of a rugby match amounts to two hours, by then the Champions League game has begun.

People are going to be packing pubs to watch the soccer and as such, it’s highly likely the rugby may be switched over early which is not ideal for anyone.

In 2011, they were on the same Saturday and the rugby kicked off at 5pm.

In 2013, rugby kicked off at 4:45.
    In 2016, rugby at 5:30.

If they moved it back to 6:00, why not just go back to 5:30?

This is especially true this year as there’s essentially a vested Irish interest in the football due to the large amount of Liverpool fans.

It is really nonsensical as to why a growing league and grand final concept would pit itself against probably the largest sporting event in the world.

'largest sporting event in the world' Please stop. Such silliness.

It's definitely In the top 5 of all sports...and would be number one for club sports without a doubt

The Champions league Final is nearly always the most watched single sporting event of the year. (Excluding world cup years)

The Champions League final viewership dwarfs the Superbowl.

Yes. A quick google shows the ECL final gets 300m plus. The Superbowl gets about a third of that.

Well I never thought that. You learn something new every day.

Super Bowl is a small regional tournament, similar to the All Ireland:p

Yeah I know, I guess the Superbowl is so hyped though and it's basically a week long event with all the press etc etc.

The NFL and the media are happy to peddle this lie every year.

    "The World is Watching"
"The biggest sports event of the year"

I love NFL but this is all bull****.

    To back that up....

Three times more people watched the United States Women's football team win the 2015 world cup final than watched that years Superbowl.

I have difficulty believing that. Globally maybe, but in the US??

Yeah, gonna call shenanigans on that factoid. The Superbowl is just insane in the US.

    Sorry that is world wide.
I started writing something else and forgot to delete the first part if the sentence.:o

It was massive, I (weirdly) know someone who was on that team and the stories are brilliant. But Superbowl viewing figures are absolutely ridiculous so I can't see it being true. If it was true, they wouldn't be so underpaid.

The difference is irrellevant unless you are looking to advertise to people in the US.

The Superbowl is a massive event in its own market. It is not a global event in the same sense as Champions League, Tennis Grand Slams, Golf Majors, Cricket World Cup, Olympics etc

Or, if you're an advertiser who likes selling things to rich white people, the Ryder Cup! :pac:

BBC 2 Wales and BBC Alba also

Just thinking, have Glasgow only played one game in the past 5 weeks?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

Patchel in for Scarlets, that was easy

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,614 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

I think Scarlets are going to do a number on them, already won a penalty for the scrum against the head, and they've looked dangerous with ball in hand.

Stuart Hogg pulled out in the warm too I believe, if it wasn't tough enough for Glasgow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,672 ✭✭✭Jump_In_Jack

Glasgow throwing great long passes and offloads in last few minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,672 ✭✭✭Jump_In_Jack

John Barclay had to go off injured, 10 minutes played. 7-0 to Scarlets.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,672 ✭✭✭Jump_In_Jack

Been hearing a lot of hype about George Horne at 9 for Glasgow, to be fair he looks like a great player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,075 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Typical Scarlets try there for Davies - fabulous stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Scarlets need to weather this patch.
I have a feeling Russell will implode.

Another for the Scarlets ... great try.
