The ACCA diploma in Accountancy and Business qualifies as the first 3 exams towards the ACCA qualification and being a qualified Accountant. Its a handy option if you choose to continue with your studies.

I did the Diploma and then the Advance Diploma and am working on the professional level exams now.
Can one complete the advanced diploma through Springboard, I don't see it available there but the ACCA diploma is on the site. Would be a much cheaper alternative.

How did the ias exam go for you guys? Think it went ok here. On the final countdown now. Not doing well with financial at the moment. Really worried about that

Yeah I found the IAS grand too. If you needed 50 to pass I’d be very confident that I passed. The fact you need 70, I’m very hopeful I passed. I’m struggling with financial as well. If you weren’t at the workshop , it’s avsilsble in knowledge point and it’s free (which is a mistake) but it’s very good

I'm watching it as we speak. I didn't know it was free! That's deffo a mistake. My books were really late so I'm getting the workshops on KP for free anyway. We just finished tuition on Wednesday so not much time for studying compared to last year but one less exam I'm May.

The one less exam is great. It really makes a difference. We don’t finish tuition until the week after next. Are you concentrating on past papers or the text books?

I'm doing past exam questions. If I don't know where they got any part of solution I'll go back to book for that. It's really daunting to have to pick up whole book and try and work way through that. My method is to watch revision workshop and then try and do questions on each party covered. Thought the workshops better last year, they seemed to cover more topics. Haven't watched tax yet. Any tips for financial accounting?

I completely agree. A lot more topics covered last year. For financial I’m studying the theory more this year. Don’t have any study plan. I seem to be all over the place with that and management. Have you any?

No plan really, just trying to do most I can. Concentrating mostly in financial and tax for next 2 weeks. Really busy at home with kids though.

Finding this yr much more difficult, think a lot in my class is the same. I'm going to park management now and concentrate on financial and tax. I'm thinking I'll have 3 days leading up to ma just to concentrate on that! Can't believe exams are so close, I felt much better prepared last yr

I think every one is in the same boat. I was a lot better prepared last year. MA is so hard for me. I am oarking it too. The pass rate last year was extremely high so hopefully we will be ok

Omg it was so hard, completely missed out on the points for q1 and deffo didn't get 50 out of the 80 left!! And that was the one I was happiest with 🙄🙄

Definitely a hard paper. I had to really think about every question, time just flew by:(

Glad I am not the only one. Q1 was a disaster. I didn’t like 3-6 either. I will definitely have to repeat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Cats26

Every one in my class said the same...disaster of a paper

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭han2000

Anybody sit the Adv Tax today?
What did ye think of the paper?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,120 ✭✭✭Maz2016

A tricky enough paper. Found Q1 tricky, q3 was a disaster and the multiple choice were time consuming. How did you find it?

I was much the same. Felt like I was doing really well for Q1 and Q2 then I came to Q3 and that put an end to that. Found the multiple choice very time consuming too. Fingers crossed enough was done to get to 50.

Hopefully. This time last week I was hoping to get all good results. Now I’m just hoping I passed FA threw me big time. Are you sitting MA? I have completely neglected it

Ya I'll be happy with 50 in all of them too.
I've MA on Monday, some of the past papers look fairly easy and some look tough. I'm praying there's at least one or two easy mark questions, we deserve at least one nice paper!

Yeah your right. Last years was a very high pass rate so they may give us a tough paper. I’m disgusted with this year in general. Can’t wait for it to be over

Papers have been very hard this year. Fin acc was very tough. The theory question was really difficult and nothing came close to balancing

Fully agree with the sentiments about AFA. The theory question was a disaster. Such an obscure topic. From looking at the sample & past papers it was one of, if not, the hardest theory question. My financial statements didn't balance either but at least I could attempt the rest of the questions. I hadn't time to rectify the SoFP as I ran out of time.

Tax wasn't too bad. I left out the multiple choice because I understood the other questions better. From chatting people who did the MCQ it did take time with all the workings. I think in hindsight I made a bags of Q1. My layout was all wrong.

MA yesterday wasn't too bad. Disappointed there was no variances or break-even analysis as our lecturer spent considerable time all year practicing these and then nothing. I didn't attempt the theory Q bit it didn't look too bad. I didn't expect process accounts to come up especially as it arose last year.

    Hopefully we'll pass.

I completely agree about MA. Our lecturer spent so much time on variances as well and also said that was highly doubtful process would come up. I was hoping for really good marks this year but FA will definitely be a repeat

How did exams go? Lot of people in my course failed at least one. Good passes in everything except adv tax for me. 51% in tax. Managed to pull it up to overall distinction with mgt and ias. Don't know what to do next though??? Thinking of further study now.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭han2000

Well done :) Thankfully passed them all too. I ended up with an overall distinction and tax was my worst, but I was expecting that. I jumped straight into study with ACCA and have more exams in September. You may as well continue while you're in the mindset and you're obviously well able after passing those four exams.

    Are you working in practice?
We're you working in practice whilst doing ATI course? Unsure what my next step will be
