Did anyone see Rosie's snaps where she said she approached the tan brand to work with her? I don't know why but I was surprised that she was the one doing contacting, I assumed the brands were all chasing the influencers and if the influencers were looking for work I didn't think they'd blatantly say they were contacting the brands.

Personally I think that's actually way better and more transparent! For example; Blogger X has been using Brand Z for months and likes it, therefore contacts the brand to collaborate. As opposed to Brand Y contacting the blogger seeking a collaboration without the blogger having much experience of the product.

Which brand of tan was it
Did you see Laura's views she did an honest review of the b perfect tan she posted it on FB the owner commented and I couldn't believe what he was saying basically asking what questions she asked the staff in the pharmacy before buying ,,, his friend commented to saying she didn't put it on right so weird how these people get involved..

I thought his response was fair enough. Not patronising or anything, I thought he was being nice and knew when to let it be and just leave it.

I do like Laura but surely she would have used a better mitt to apply? Also her hands were in bits, two fingers completely missed. That was her application not the tan.

    But I wouldn't pay that for a tan I don't know.

She never said on SC but she's got it on Instagram now, CatwalkHQ is the brand. Never heard of them before, had a look on their Instagram, Just Jordan is the current brand ambassador

I agree, I thought his response was very friendly and he seemed very interested in her opinion, he didn't seem to be just on the defence.

I thought Sharon Leavy's comment was a bit bizarre and unnecessary. She said she hadn't tried the tan and won't be either cos there are better tans on the market. She hadn't tried it but yet felt like she could state as fact that there were better ones on the market. Fair enough don't try it if it doesn't interest you, but don't slate it if you haven't even tried it.

It's one thing pretending a brand is great cos you're being paid but slating one cos your blogger friend or fellow blogger didn't like it isn't much better imo. Give the guy a chance, he seemed like a reasonable business person who was receptive to negative feedback.

Actually I thought Cherry Sue's comment was more bizarre. Trying to name and shame a girl who's friends with the owner and who said that it was her ultimate tan after trying it the day before.

Personally, I didn't find the owners comment to be on anyway rude tbf. I will say though, I was glad to see that Laura purchased it herself so we would get an honest review and not have to wonder whether it was #ad, #spon or worse, #brandambassador

Yeah I found Cherry Sue's a bit ott too. It seems no one can question a blogger be it in relation to a good review or a bad one. Tbh it stands to reason that the result you will get from a tan will depend on how how well it was applied. Same goes for lots of other products such as make up, hair dye, nail polish etc. So I didn't think it was outrageous of him to ask. Also using something for 15 years doesn't necessarily mean you're using it correctly or that you're an expert at it!

Ah I don't know to ask her did she ask the staff questions she shouldn't have to ask staff anything.. in fairness laura said the first day it was gorgeous but faded very badly so she wasn't judging it on the application..
for an unknown brand at that price I'd want it to be amazing

Probably, I hadn't a breeze who she was until very recently. Her and Sharon leavys comments were both just downright odd.

Yeah, cherry sue kinda pounced on your wan. No need for the harshness of her comment at all. Thought Sharon was quite weird as well, she knocked it before she tried it.

I like Lauras reviews and was glad to see someone go out and buy something for a review.

I've seen cherry sue do something similar before, she was quite scathing towards someone that posted a link about bloggers and ASAI to one of those groups on Facebook. I thought it was bitchy and unneseccary and made her look quite superior (not in a good way)

I've read through all of the comments on that post now and tbh, Laura comes across as very sarcastic to one person who comments saying that she loves the tan. Laura's comment is something like "soooooo glad you love it!!" with a heart emoji. It could just be me reading it that way though because she's been slightly gettitng on my nerves lately, I'm not sure

I thought that to... also thought I was looking into it to much! Text can always come across different then what it is actually meant like! So I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt because I actually like following her and she seems to give decent reviews when she does do them! I also think what she is doing at the moment is an amazing idea!

I bought the iglow lash serum based on Laura's recommendation! But I still want to try this tan in the medium shade, her review is the first I've seen on it. I like how she bought it herself even though they offered to send it out to her. I don't like how the brand have sponsored MUF even though she was very vocal previously that she doesn't wear fake tan. Doesn't make sense but I supposed that's more an issue I have with her for taking on the sponsorship.

Cherry Sue is forever on the attack in Galz, went off her majorly after she jumped on someone after they linked the ASAI post. She had been drinking all night (I had her on snapchat so I saw this), and then made some rude comments about how 'nobody cared enough about this non story to comment'. She tried to backtrack the next day, bur but just looked foolish... She seems to delve into stuff with the intent of starting a row, very embarrassing , makes her looks desperate for followers IMO. Another small time blogger stuck her oar in too, won't name her here, but she's actually worse than Sue for sticking her nose in and is always gagging for an argument.

Is she from Cork? And is always now doing stupid snapchat filters mocking people who talk about the #ad? I followed and unfollowed. Couldn't take her.

Yes, this girl is from Cork. I find her extremely rude and bitchy, always inserting herself into rows between people that have nothing at all to do with her. Can't fathom why she has followers tbh, athough I don't think she is v well known.....

Totally agree sue is always jumping in with ridiculous comments just to look relevant and gain a few other followers .. there is a girl that tag teams with her not sure if she's from cork or not I don't follow her she just mentions that she's a blogger ..
The funny thing is she jumps on people who question transparency with responses like who cares or just unfollow when she thrives on making her opinion known about everything and anything

I saw the girlfriend of a well known video maker put up snapchat last night asking does anyone knows how to go about booking a round of golf at a specific golf club as a treat for her dad.
It was the most blatant freebie grabbing thing I've ever seen... I mean, its a golf club, she wants to book a round of golf, why not ring and ask instead of asking your followers how to go about it? It just came across like she was hoping someone from the club would see and offer it for free.

The lovely Emer from Penneys To Prada recently said that the hashtag #iworkwithprimark covers them in place of Ad and that it had been agreed with ASAI. I do appreciate her disclosure, fair play to her for stating it.

However I am a bit annoyed (not at her!). Bloggers who have are paid by Penneys have no problem using that long hashtag but struggle to use one of 3 character?! Also it means that ASAI have bowed to the retail giant Primark and let them call the shots as to what can be disclosed. ASAI should have stuck to their guns and insisted on #ad no matter what the brand is. It leads me to wonder what other hashtags are being allowed instead of #ad: #brandambassador? #imwearingRI?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

It makes no sense to use #iworkwithpenneys. #ad and #spon do the job just fine and are shorter and more to the point. Bizarre that they are allowed to create their own hashtag when there are ones there available to use (but aren't being used) already.

I got a response from the ASAI in relation to Grace's snaps where she was doing her hair in front of a placed Meaghers pharmacy bag (something she does a lot). They basically did nothing other than ask her and them was it an ad, which obviously they both said it wasn't planned and not an ad.

Do they not see this is a way of advertising a company/product by placing it in the background. Basically getting around regulations.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 7,441 Mod ✭✭✭✭XxMCRxBabyxX

So basically because they say that it's not an ad ASAI are just taking them at their word and doing nothing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

Pretty much. Its a joke. Im going to point out the glarimg issues with their regulations amd how so many are easily doing ads without having to adhere to their ridiculous regulations

But if the blogger is not saying for example this shampoo is marvellous get it in Meaher's then it is not an ad. If you look at many shows on the TV you will see similar stuff. For example, on Mrs Brown's Boy's you can a sliced Brennan's Bread wrapper very clearly visible. I don't know but I would assume that Brennan's pay for this so this is a subtle form of advertising.
At the end of the day we have legislation in place and watchdogs so if they see nothing wrong with it then that's fine.
