Looks like every destiny, halo, battlefield Titanfall knockoff made in the past 5 years or so take your pick and this is what they sacrificed MEA for. Better be worth all the hype they surrounded it with. What did Casey Hudson call it "the Bob Dylan of videogames"?

How come there has never been a proper AAA prison based RPG game? Always seemed like a better option than what A Way Out looks to be, a linear story driven rip off of Prison Break.

The first game that came to my mind when I saw the trailer for A Way Out was Prisoner of War:

Great game with really interesting mechanics. Would love to see a reboot of it.

He could be on to something: Blonde on Blonde was widely acclaimed on release for telling the story of blandly designed space marines fighting monsters by shooting at them, while using nonsense marketing speak to describe its online features. Still beloved by millions of fans today.

It is possible that the Evil Within 2 will be announced today at the Bethesda event, headed up by Mikami again.

Yeah, have read a few rumours to that effect alright. Another Wolfenstein (The New Colossus) is being touted as well; apparently Amazon accidentally added it to the store, albeit briefly.

Anyone else hear the rumour that Bethesda are working on a new sci-fi IP? The "source" claims it'll essentially be TES/FO in space. The same guy also claims L4D3 will be announced this year too, so I'd say I should probably be ignoring him, instead of spreading his sweet lies. :o

If the price was half that I would think it interesting, but with that placeholder price I can't see what is interesting about it at all

I think Scorpio will be €499. Saying that Microsoft announced a price cut to the One S to $199 so maybe we will see Scorpio priced at €399?

why not have a €1 placeholder price

€999 is high i wonder if GS are expecting a €700/800 price tag

I'd be shocked if it came out under 500 - though they could reduce the price by putting a small hard drive in it and 'letting' pole pole supplement it with an external drive.

Cause people would try to pre-order at €1 and there would be a stupid internet commotion when GameStop didn't honour that price.

Put the placeholder price way over what it is likely to be and then you don't have to worry about any of that stuff.

it clearly states that its not the final price.

i don't believe people are that stupid that they would somehow think they would get it for €1 it would be a deposit

You've never seen threads where amazon or Dell missprice high value items? I know it's not the exact same but why do anything that could encourage that type of reaction. 450 to a max 600 imo, and I'd be surprised at 600. It's a big risk at 600 and utterly dead in the water at anything higher - it needs to be lower than you could build a comparable pc.

Let me trade in my Xbox One and get the Scorpio for €350 and I'll bite.

but why even bother to put a placeholder price at all in that case why not just a register interest or coming soon

They did a very good deal on trade in for the ps4 base model - specifically against the pro. Think it was a 200 trade in value.

Because this is a pre-order screen, not a register interest screen. Probably needs a price against it for procedural reasons.

Have you *met* people? I'm reminded of all those fucwits who took a fortune out of ATMs cause the link to BOI was down and they didn't think they'd have to pay it back despite the fact that the machine keeps logs. Humans are ****ing morons.

Back on topic, the EA event was *very* uninspiring - kinda what I've come to expect from EA.

The PS4 Pro represents only 1 in every 5 PS4s sold and it only costs €350 (€50 more than the Slim).

The regular Xbox One is getting murdered by the PS4 sales wise and there is very little by way of interesting games on the horizon from MS so a price of anything over €400 will mean that the Scorpio will be dead-on-arrival.

Doesn't help that people who want real eye candy from the likes of Forza will probably just get it for their gaming PC, which they will inevitably have if they are a graphics whore/have more money than sense.

I thought I read that in the US Microsoft outsold Sony (One S has outsold the PS4) for the last 5/6 months?

We'll be very surprised how well this will do I'd say. Only 9% of people buy consoles for the exclusives. So if third party games look and play better on Scorpio you'll see plenty of people buying it.

    imagine €1000 for a console :D hahahaha

It depends on how much of a hit MS are willing to take on the Scorpio. If they sell it for any more than 400, even if that means selling it at a loss, I can't see them selling a lot of them given people can get the vanilla consoles or the PS4Pro for less, because by that point the fact the games look and run slightly better isn't going to be enough to justify another 100 to the majority of people.

According to NPD, the last time the One outsold the PS4 in the US was October 2016 but they did string together a few months prior to that.

It won't be €400. The One at launch was €500, the PS3 was €500+ (I think). Plenty of people will want it even at €500.

I'd imagine quite a few of us on the Xbox Forum will pick it up. Even my brother who's always bought PlayStation said today he'll be buying it.

Maybe that's where I read it. The One S has seen a price drop to $199 in the US (hopefully it'll see the same here) so you might get non gamers buying for the 4K Blueray Player now as well.

I think it'll be €499 here alright but maybe there's a slight chance of €449, but I doubt it.

The One at launch though was bundled with the Kinect and there were no alternatives (eg. People now can buy the One S).

If the vanilla consoles are around 300 and the PS4Pro is 400, the question is will the graphical upgrade be worth paying another 100 for the Scorpio to the average consumer? It'll obviously sell, but in high enough numbers? I'd doubt it. As someone else already said, only about 1 in 5 PS4s sold are Pros, which is 100 more than the vanilla PS4. A new model of Xbox for 200 more, even though the One S has HDR and 4k... I don't see it happening in great numbers.

If MS announced a 400 price tag and some new exclusives tonight, I'd buy one.

Edit: Just saw Failsafe's post above. 500 it is then, I guess.

500 is a big mistake. It'll die at that price.
