A potential headache for the GAA if the Cork vs Waterford game is a draw 2morrow

On Saturday 19th August The under 21 semi finals take place in Thurles (4pm & 6pm) and the senior camoige semi finals take place in Limerick on the same day (times tbc and will be shown on RTE). The next day (sun 20th Aug) the first of the football minor and Senior semi finals take place in Croke Park

This is the problem in the GAA, outside of drawn AI finals where there's more time to work with, there's nothing factored in to account for two teams who draw more than once in earlier rounds.

Imagine if after ET in a replay it's drawn again... they're up **** creek.

It's the only sport where replays and multiple draws aren't accounted for... it's just a case of hope for the best and hope the adds play out as they should.

I don't buy into the fact that people are saying all the pressure is on Waterford.

Yes expectations are high because we don't fear cork so there is a real sense of "we can actually do this" that we wouldn't have if we were playing Tipp or KK. In saying this, we are still managing to keep a lid on it.

But the expectations being levelled on the team from the people of Cork is on another level. Nothing wrong at all with supporting your county and I know they've starved of success compared to their previous generations but they are certainly putting a lot pressure on the team.

Don't agree that Cork fans putting pressure on this team. No Cork person would have expected us to reach an AI semifinal this year.
We are in bonus territory now and will hopefully get a performance from the team today and see if it's good enough.

But if Waterford lose today....Derek McGrath surely moves on, the sweeper system is well and truly debunked and waterford are back to square one with no foreseeable chance of winning a Munster. In contrast Cork have won a Munster with a bunch of kids and seem to have a vibrant minor/u21 set-up. Always some pressure in Cork with the tradition alà KK, Tipp but taken as a given.

Hold on, have you not seen Waterfords underage success over the last few years?

Waterford have an unreal pool of players, with an exceptional under 21 team from last year. Two young hurlers of the year and a hurler of the year. We would lose Brick and Moran soon but there are many super talented players to take over and hopefully step up.

People more or less feel that ok, get behind Derek but if we lose then someone else will bring us to where we want to be. Many people understand the limitations of his style so wouldn't be too sorry to see him go.

So it might be last chance for him but it's not last chance for this team, hence the lower level of pressure in the county.

Didn't see the first yellow; second offence a definite yellow, pulled across the man when he had already caught the ball. Ref diddled Dublin something stupid I thought...

Also missed the first yellow. And I agree that the second yellow was correct. It was a very wild pull and was probably lucky not to get a straight red.

Waterford are not going as selected. That was a dummy team. Here is the real one....
