That's the thing for me. I ordered a Pi 4 for around €40 and it was sent out February 29th. In the interim I was refunded and bought one on Amazon. If it turns up is it still dishonest if I don't pay for it again? Was I supposed to keep waiting so long for something that might never arrive? I don't need/want two. I personally think after 4 months I should be absolved of any responsibility.

By the way I'm sure there's people reading this saying to themselves "just keep both the money and the item you fool". :)

I agree with your sentiments. If that happens, it will just cause sellers not to ship to Ireland.

Should I hold on to something I haven't paid for? And you are asking if that is dishonest? Was it the sellers fault that shipping ground to a halt because of a pandemic?

Fair enough. Can you reject delivery of China stuff? Cos I don't want it now and hope it never arrives.

Not my fault either. Could actually be his country's fault last I heard.

Legally and contractually they say if you don't get it in 60 days you get a refund. So you don't have to do anything.

Ethically for something over a tenner I'd probably try to pay supplier. Msg them, they might say buy the same item, but note its not to be shipped and mark as received etc.

And you'll always find another use for a pi, i've 4 in the house :-)

Got at item sent 29th March delivered yesterday (Sunday!) to Dubin....tiny package, I was not here when it was delivered, my wife said it was a normal An Post van, pretty sure this is a first for here.

Ordered from AE on May 11th, it hit Ireland on June 5th according the tracking and emails Ali have sent me, but no sign of it so far. It should be below the VAT threshold, I guess I just keep waiting.

Door to door tracked item just arrived. 81 days!

Still few "older" ones in limbo.

I firmly blame anpost they are not delivering these packages and it is nothing got to do with customs holdups!

Starting to filter through, 3 out of 47 packages have arrived, all ordered from early March till start of June. No sequence to them, however, carries differ.

Paid $12 and had a package arrive from Hong Kong in little over 3 days!

I'm sure these are An Post sorting delays, over 70% of my packages are showing arrived in the country.

So do I blame an post. I have several low value items in the country and not been delivered .

Im just after tracking a package and An Post tracking info states that it was delivered to me on 15th June. Its odd seeing as I never received it.

Surely this needs to be resolved by anpost, how can we get them to take notice and actually deliver packages that we have paid for?

Hang on are you saying you had 47 packages coming from China? 47?

Yes, actually 48! Most relatively low value, between $1-$5. Some disputes are finished because the Protection Period was not extended by the seller and after 15 days, I would have lost my money with no item delivered. If an item does arrive, I will make every attempt to pay the seller. They should not be penalised for An Post's complete disregard for their obligations. They are being paid to deliver these items.

I want to order something from China for someone's birthday in a months time.

Getting concerned now reading this that I won't receive it in time if there are delays with An Post.

Would I be better off getting it sent to an address in the UK rather than here if there are big back logs?

Depends on how it is sent. I'm receiving stuff that was sent 3 weeks ago, but still waiting on stuff sent at end of march. I did buy something of higher value(under customs threshold), paid for DHL($12) and it arrived in just over 3 days.

The issue is An Post. I had a package come from Portugal, DHL initially until it arrived in Ireland, then it was handed over to An Post. 3 Days from Portugal to Ireland, then 2 weeks from An Post to my house.

Amazon packages are taking way too long, 1 to 2 weeks, however, if I get them sent to a UK address they only take 1-2 days!

Common weak link here is An Post!

the issue with amazon orders is not with An Post. every amazon order since the lockdown started has taken a week to 10 days to be shipped by amazon. once it has been shipped it gets to me in 2-3 days. I placed an order on the 15th of June. It wasn't shipped until the 22nd. An post delivered it today.

There was a massive shortfall in shipping from China from February. There weren't as many ships and almost no planes. Then An Post are obviously giving priority to better paying work from Amazon, clearing the backlog from China as they can.

An Post are upping their passive aggressive stance on stuff from China

The deliberate delays are longer imo

Also the other week I had a letter put in through my postbox but on the same day a tiny package (that would easily have fit in my postbox - not much thicker than a letter) from China left outside standing up against the doorstep!

Last night I made an official online query regarding the missing package and low and behold it was delivered this morning.

Based on the tracking info it appears that it was in the county here at the main sorting office for over a week but how or why that tracking showed it as being delivered on the 15th june is beyond me. Either the local sorting office kept it or the local postman did and I would doubt it was the postie as I know him personally.

I think an official complaint en mass needs to be made against anpost and their complete disregard for delivering post that they are contractually obliged to!

Is there some sort of postal complaints ombudsman?

it's not just stuff from China that is being delayed by An Fussed these days!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,158 ✭✭✭reni10

There must be millions of euros worth of products that people have paid for just sitting in some post depot!

Lots of my China orders have arrived in Ireland for weeks now according to the tracking numbers but not one has been delivered yet and some have been in that state since March!

They should be delivered as they are supposed to be!

they have been doing this for years.

it's just worse now with more stuff being sent by post during Covid and probably some internal An Fussed social distancing stuff going on also.

    Couldn't agree more.

I just thought your last post a bit puzzling seeing as this thread is labelled "Anyone still waiting for stuff from China?" but I see your point now :)

I ordered two things from DHGate at the end of April, first time using them. After two months of “items being processed” the sellers kept telling me they send via ePacket which is delayed delivering to Ireland due to covid.”
I couldn’t find info in this anywhere. Now it says one has been shipped with CNE and the tracking number is showing nothing.

    Anyone in a similar situation?
