Ariel would have been better off saying o longer working with them and drop the reason nothing to be gained

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,886 ✭✭✭stephenl15

I thought Ariel was being a little weasel rushing to leak the brock news, he should have let everyone find out while watching the PPV. After him leaking the news then breaking down and crying like a baby ffs.

If I was Dana I wouldn't have even left him back into the press conferences.
It's literally Ariel a job to break the news when he has it

In the post fight conference the other day Ariel asked Dana why he blocked Cyborg on social media. Dana went through a big rigmarole of saying he definitely didn't block her, getting his phone, , scrolling through, acting confused, handing it to an assistant etc.

Anyway based on the timing I would say that was the reason he got Ariel fired. He does not like being questioned or put on the spot.

Not while sitting there at the show when its due to be announced an hour later and he does it for the sake of a few rts.

Surely there are some sort of laws in place to protect journalists against being treated like that.

Especially in a country as litigious as the states.

By that logic the journalist who broke the Lukaku transfer to Manchester United is a weasel for spoiling the surprise?

It's *literally* their job to break news.

If Dana wants to point fingers he should have been looking internally at the processes that led to the news leaking. It's Dana's responsibility who he employs and if he's got guys leaking to the press that's *on him*.

Classic example of shooting the messenger.

Maybe not the smartest thing to do in terms of that he needs the UFC on his side but he still should break the news when he gets it

Conor should press to have Ariel back. Ariel has always been good Conor

That was hilarious especially when he asked to be unblocked :D But yeah interesting point.

What has the timing of it to do with anything? News is news.

I doubt its just the Brock thing too, I'd say there's been plenty on incidents Dana is a man child and Helwani can be a **** stirrer but both do a job for another they should be grown up about it.

Dana White is an absolute scumbag.

People who are calling Ariel a weasel for doing his job are talking out of their hoops too.

Dana has and still does work with the biggest **** stirrers there is and only bitches about ''weirdo journos'' when it suits him, chap is a bully and a ****.

Ariel vs Dana in a street fight with knives !

Dana sticking to his guns cant blame him here hes got beef with Helwani over the Brock thing why put money in his pocket after that I wouldnt.

You could easily make an argument that Ariel has put money in his pocket. Look at something like the McGregor 'Not a pot to piss in' interview and what it did to blow up interest in him. He has kept interest going in lots of UFC nights that weren't up to much. He's played quite a part of the growth of the UFC when you factor in all the interviews he does. The main two principals cleaned up when they sold the UFC. Not suggesting he was entitled to a slice of that particular cake but still and all, I'd say at this stage the UFC owe Ariel a hell of lot more than he owes them.

Fcuking desperately petty thing to have done.

You'd be hard pressed to find a single other human being (other than Dana) who has done more in the past 5 years to promote the UFC than Ariel.

Both of his shows do really good numbers. His Twitter, Instagram and FB have a big reach. Many people knew about the likes of Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler, Conor McGregor through Ariel.

I actually have no problem with Dana not wanting Ariel on the broadcast. That's understandable, he doesn't like him.

My problem is the way it was done to humiliate him. They allowed Ariel to tweet publicly that he was on the show, they allowed Showtime to announce it and then they waited until the last minute to yank him.

Nobody is going to convince me Dana couldn't have yanked Ariel last night within 20 minutes of that tweet. Instead he waited until the last minute to humiliate him.

Just listening to Schaub here now on the fighter and the kid, Christ it's a bit embarrassing how wrong he can be. As someone else has, incredible that he's making a living from some of this stuff.

God forbid Helwani went out and harmed himself from the bullying can you imagine Dana trying to cover that ****storm up, they have an association now the mma journos it'd be funny if they boycotted their events and let them see their impact (they wont because lads like Morgan and Okomoto are in Danas pocket)

What's this about Donald Trump taking on someone from CNN on the undercard?

Strange question - but what's the proper hashtag for the whole Mayweather/McGregor thing? I've seen about 5 different versions being commonly used.

    Agree with wonder

Ariel promotes ufc better than they do themselves imo. While they pump ronda/ conor almost exclusively he has main eventers to curtain jerkers on his show and gives them the airtime the ufc never would.

As for the brock thing- i find ariel is always correct ( and he cites that he never goes p8bloc without verifying a seperate source)

I would gues more people would have tuned in to see whether it was true. So its not like he took viewers away.

I wonder if ariel had signed a contract to do the job? Where does that leave him? Is there a legal route with the ufc as they demanded his removal.

I don't understand this mentality - if you want the appeal and riches that come with being in the mainstream, you have to open yourself to media scrutiny. You don't get to choose what media you want. He wants to be Vince McMahon.

Agree with this, maybe its heightened with everything else thats going on at the minute but it seems awfully perverse to have a say over which journalists are allowed cover your event, still has his press creds though to be fair, how great would it be to just hear him pipe up; ''just one question for dana, why did you have me removed from the showtime broadcast?'' :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 712 ✭✭✭Mean Laqueefa

After Helwani got blacklisted and then re-instated i seem to remember he got the biggest cheer of the night when asking his questions. Cant remember the event :/

Agree, what I meant is if Dana wanted to put in an objection to Ariel beforehand then I'd have understood it. This was a hosting job, Ariel was going to be an analyst today and rest of the week he was going to be the MC - so it's not a media scrutiny issue as such.

I surprisingly just got a message back from Ariel he's sick as a pig

Dana is supposed to be a great promoter, and for the most part he used to be, but why generate so many negative headlines?

All the headlines should be about Conor and Floyd, there shouldn't be even a small story about Dana and his childish beef with a journalist. It's just distracting from the event tonight.
