It has probably been mentioned loads on here, but happened between Conor or Tom?

I think the question is probably "what happened between Tom and John?".

Conor has been commenting on and liking Tom's instagram posts in the past few months and still calling him "brother".

But something must have happened somewhere. Tom was a huge part of so many of Conor's camps and then he was a Coach on TUF 22, still a big part of the team and then all of a sudden he was gone. For a brief period he was also unfollowed on social media by both John and Conor.

I know he's living in Boston but that doesn't explain it because he was living in Boston already when TUF 22 was on.

I've no idea but I'd like to know. Money is usually at the bottom of people falling out.

    1. I've seen this a lot from boxing fans. Why would Floyd "choose to let McGregor survive" 12 rounds? Why would he want it to "look respectable"? By "respectable" you mean respectable for Conor because it certainly isn't respectable for Floyd or for boxing if our UFC lightweight champion strolls in to a boxing ring, lasts 12 rounds and possibly outlands what Berto, Manny or Canelo landed.

I've heard a few conspiracy theories alright as to why Floyd would do this but none of them make sense.

It looks to me like people are getting their excuses in early just in case Conor performs well and takes it the distance. They'd much rather say "Floyd chose to let him survive" than to actually give Conor any credit for the performance.

    2. Yes. He'll land 10 punches... in the first round.

    3. He's been preparing for this fight against Floyd physically and mentally for 2 years. If you're talking specific boxing training, Owen Roddy said discussions on Floyd's style and shots have been ongoing since November.

Really though, it goes back far longer than that. Conor has been studying Floyd and being influenced by Floyd (especially the shoulder roll) for years.

As for Ido Portal, he is a movement coach. He might have had Conor for 2 hours in the entire week this week doing a few movement drills to loosen him up. Conor won't win or lose because of Sensei Portal.

Stop mentioning Conor is the same breath as these lads its an insult to professional boxers.

Conor is a supreme MMA but an amateur boxer.

If he troubles Mayweather once then by all means he gets the credit he deserves.

Because quite simply hes a amateur against one of the best ever.

2.Delusion...The best defensive fighter of this generation is going to get hit 10 times by a complete novice in the sport in the first round?????

    Yeah.

We'll see what the compubox numbers come out with but I think 10 is a fair yet optimistic guess.

How many do you think Conor lands in total?

I hope he lands many and knocks him out.

Well yeah me too but is 10 a crazy guess for Round 1? Can you not see Conor having a flurry against the ropes with a few shots sneaking through to the body?

Honestly...No...certainly not in the 1st against the anti fighter Floyd.

I could be way wrong. It's hard to know. Mosley only landed 3 punches in one round against Floyd and on the other end of spectrum Maidana landed 28 punches in one round by swinging for the fences.

I don't think Conor has it in him to swing for the bleachers without gassing.

8 weeks won't have long to find out anyway.

Most of ye know more about boxing than me, but the only reason I give Conor .1% chance here is Floyd has only faught those who are traditional boxers, who believed they could take him the distance or at least boxed conservatively.

If Conor runs out of his corner, like Collins Vs Eubank, charges at him and is in his head the same way Collins got into Eubank's.... there's a sliver of a chance.

Conor is going out there to knock him the **** out - he has to try to! so I doubt he's trying to learn how to box like a novice boxer would.

    Sky confirmed.

Eh should it not be Sunday 27th at 01:00am this side of the pond? Saturday 01:00 would mean the fight is on Friday night in Vegas.

How stupid are the general public about this fight. I had one tell me that it's in the contract that Connor is allowed "one mma move"

I saw something about that too, possibly Joe.ie or some other waffle.

Fairly sure it's the superman punch. Not an illegal boxing move, used more in kickboxing, so technically an MMA "move."

Just watched the full footage that Van Heerden released. No surprise that Conor got butchered.

Van Heerden not even in the top 20 welterweights.

McGregor better hope that Floyd chooses not to embarrass him. If he does Conor's ability to sell ppvs could dip.

    Shame on Floyd.

I doubt that there will just be some spin on it i.e.' nobody else would dare to do this', 'you're all bums'. Even the mma media have been talking about what a 'win' would look like for Conor, would it be if he wins a round, lands a couple of punches on maywheather. The get out of jail free cards have already been dispatched if anything this will enhance Conor's reputation, he will not get Ronda Rousey-ed whatever happens.

Below is a video of Conor getting tagged repeatedly in MMA sparring by the GOAT Charlie Ward.

Maybe it's possible we shouldn't read much into peoples ability in MMA or boxing from little video clips? If I had never seen Floyd box and only saw his sparring footage from the other day, I'd never believe he was even a good boxer nevermind 49-0.

Anyway you're right, shame on Charlie Ward for accepting that sparring offer against an outmatched Conor

    That's a very emotional post.

McGregor used his version of the Van Heerden clip to promote his boxing skills. The reality is he got eaten up.

What's your point about this Charlie Ward? Ward also chewing McGregor up doesn't strengthen your position at all.

You say not to read too much into sparring footage but you yourself are reading into total inanities.

Chris van heerden did not release any 'full footage' Why do people keep talking like he released the entire sparring? Chris released 2 minutes out of 6 rounds sparring. Mcgregor released 6 minutes of 6 rounds sparring. Mcgregors shows 3x more of what happened, by the end of it Chris looked hurt and tired and mcgregor looked a-ok

For the record, Box n Burn is Tony Jeffries gym.

Tony came out this week and told how the van Heerden sparring came together:

"Conor came into the gym and he was just hitting the bag and he came up to me and asked is there anybody he could move around with and get loose. Chris van Heerden was around so I suggested him."

The "spar" was literally arranged 60 seconds before they got into the ring and Conor's intention was to get loose. If you want to judge his ability in boxing on that footage OR his ability in MMA on all the sparring footage of Artem, Tom Egan, Peter Queally, Charlie Ward touching Conor up, then ok...

My point is maybe gym sparring footage of Conor is not representative of his ability in either sport?

I thought it was obvious but I'll spell it out:

Conor is a better Mixed Martial Artist than Charlie Ward. That's not even close. If Charlie is touching him up in sparring, then maybe the lesson is Conor is a different animal in an actual fight than he is in sparring.

Not 100% true to be fair. They sparred on 2 occasions, all the footage that was released was from the 2nd occasion.

I think that is odd logic. If as you say that this Ward is a terrible mma fighter and is dusting McGregor then this further boosts my confidence that Floyd will be invincible against him.

What is your objective opinion on McGregor preparations? Keeping all his MMA coachesand sparring partners. Come on.

Well that's Tony's version of events. He said he remains on good terms with Conor and he stopped by the gym to work out when he went over to meet Lorenzo Fertitta a few months back but van Heerden won't be getting any Christmas Cards from Conor was the way he put it.

If footage emerged of Usain Bolt getting smoked repeatedly by Yohan Blake in training (which actually was true) would you think Blake was the better sprinter or would you think Bolt saved his best for when it mattered?

There's many fighters out there who are world-beaters in the gym and hopeless under the pressure of the big stage. I'm just suggesting if Charlie and Artem have success against Conor in training it might be because he saves his best for when it matters.

I like the fact he's sticking with Owen Roddy but I'd obviously prefer a Manny Robles type boxing trainer to come in to give a few opinions. Dashon Johnson seems a fairly level-headed choice for one sparring partner as well.

Conor won't win or lose based on who trains him in the next 8 weeks. He'll likely lose because Floyd is too good.

No but his boxing skills could be improved with an actual boxing coach. Can an MMA coach implement a boxing strategy gameplay?

Kavanagh is useless for this bout
