Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Had a look at the carwow review of the 5008 - doesn't seem to offer much over the 3008 for a 2K premium apart form 20cm length and 2x extra seats. Middle row headroom looks very poor.

I think the panoramic roof cuts into the rear headroom. I've never been a great fan of sunroofs anyway.

Yup Ill have to put some pics up

    On a different subject

Im not sure what to think of it but my drivers seat is not all that comfy for me. It's like a rod coming up through the cushion and annoyingly hard to sit on

    Anyone experience that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,513 ✭✭✭digitaldr

Driver's seat is fine for me - I have the Mistral leather seats with lumbar support. The bottom cushion is a little shorter than my old car but I dare say I'll get used to it. Anyway I mainly use it at the weekends (have a honda SH300i scooter for my work commute) and my wife, who drivers it every day prefers the shorter cushion (she's 5ft and I'm 6 ft 2!). It's a bit late now but I could have specified AGR seats that allow for the length of the bottom cushion to be adjusted.

I couldn't find a petrol model for test drive. but looking at the reviews and fact i do only low miles i put 1K deposit yesterday for 1.2 petrol Active. expected delivery date is middle of May. fingers crossed :-)

At that stage wouldn't you like to push the registration until 1 July?

I might take it if they can deliver by 2nd week of May if not will push it for 172. not sure about the benefits of purposely delaying until 172.

Just received word that my 3008 has gone into production.

I've managed to add Grip Control to my spec, just to get the different alloys.

Not much - but at any time in future it will be worth just a bit more than 171...

Does anyone have any real world fuel consumption figures yet?

Get those of Citroen C4 Picasso and add 5-10% (because of the bigger wheels and more boxy shapes).

Finally got a drive in a 1.2 petrol today. Was a little underwhelmed, much to my disappointment.

The engine was perfectly fine, plenty of pep for me. However, I just found it uncomfortable to drive. I'm 6'1" and maybe that's something to do with it but I couldn't find a good driving position. In particular, the pedals were at a very awkward angle for me , quite vertical, and I found my legs starting to ache noticibably almost immediately.

In fairness, I'd just been driving for an hour beforehand so could probably have done with a bit of a break and it's possible I could have found a good position with a little more effort.

However, despite the fantastic styling, super interior, cool gadgets and generous specifications, it's sadly off the purchase list this time around.

i am 5'9 tall and i drove diesel GT line version. I felt if i was little more taller my head would hit the roof. couldn't remember anything unusual with the pedals. i drove it only for 10-15 minutes may be that was not enough to find out.

Do you mind if i ask where did you find the petrol version for test drive. was the engine powerful enough for an SUV? I opted for petrol as i only do low miles

It was in Windsor clonee. They have a bunch of them there, one of which was a petrol just off the boat. Ended up buying an xtrail from them.

Thought the 1.2 was plenty as its actually a small enough car and I don't drive super fast or ever need a lot of power so it probably suited my driving style.

The other thing that bugged me was the high door on the inside - didn't realise how much I rested my elbow there until it was uncomfortable to do so!

Is anyone else waiting an insane amount of time for their new 3008.ordered mine in Jan and still waiting, Allure spec, seem to be hard to order with a towbar. Only that they are an amazing car and there is nothing else out there, would have pulled the plug by now. Best of luck and congrats to all who have received delivery of their new cars. any teething problems?

Your dealer is able to tell you about a built date by now.i ordered mine early March (1.2 Petrol Active) and promised to be delivered by end of May or early June.

Letterkenny- been to dealer twice asking about test drive for the mrs, took number and yet to call thats 2 months ago. Filled in online peugeot form for getting a test drive about 2 months ago aswell still no contact. At this point i will travel to a different dealer to buy.

It's better to try few dealers not only for test drive but to get a good deal. my dealer is bit naive but they gave the best trade in value (+1000) so i had to stick with them.

Ye but I've had 2 date come and go, I've been told end of April and he said he'd keep in touch but haven't heard anything since!

Seems there is a huge gap in demand and supply. dealers are not providing customers a realistic delivery date to keep the orders already made and not to loose other potential buyers. i am keeping an eye on the market.if i can find anything interested i might pull out as there is no point waiting for 4-6 months for this car .

I ordered my HDi 1.6L auto Allure with full leather on 23/12/16 and picked it up from Windsor Airside at the beginning of March. According to this article they're stepping up production. I shopped around a bit and managed to save €1,000 in the process. I was perfectly prepared to buy from a dealer outside Dublin if necessary but in the event didn't have to. There's no need to stick with the dealer you bought from for servicing - this is where they make a lot of their money so they don't care where you bought the car.

It's been a month since your last review - how is she running for you now digitaldr?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,513 ✭✭✭digitaldr

Running very well - particularly enjoying all the gadgets especially android auto. I only really drive it at weekends (wife uses it during the week) as don't use a car commuting to and from work so has taken me a while to get used to the small steering wheel. My old car didn't have steering wheel bumps so again have had to get used to these too. In fact I'm trying to change to holding the wheel at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions as apparently this is what's currently recommended in order to avoid nasty airbag injuries. I find the seat cushion a little short as I'm 6ft 2. Only found out recently that the electrically operated seats have an adjustable seat cushion nose. I've no issue with headroom as there's a very large range of height adjust on both front seats.

As has already been mentioned it's not possible to lean your elbow on the window ledge due to the high waistline but the door handle shelf works ok instead.

Overall very pleased with it. Have done 2 Dublin - Donegal trips plus a few journeys to Wexford - very smooth, quiet, comfortable ride, acceleration and fuel economy much better than the old 2l petrol CRV (which wouldn't be hard!). Autobox is very smooth and love the way it puts itself into park and applies the handbrake when you turn off the ignition.

Sound system is very good and I wouldn't see the need to splash out €1,000 for the Focal option. A friend of mine has just ordered a Volvo XC60 - €4000 extra for the posh stereo  Apparently it's got a setting that replicates to acoustics of Gothenburg concert hall!

What other gadgets did you get with it. Can the centre console be hidden.

Did you get the automatic parking option

Great to hear all this. The Focal system is included in the GT Line spec, really can't believe that.

What do you think you are getting fuel economy wise?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,513 ✭✭✭digitaldr

Unfortunately Focal is not included in the GT Line spec. From the Irish spec sheet:
    FOCAL® Premium HIFI Speaker System
Optional from Allure trim and above.

I think the left hand drive demos had it though. Can't give you precise figures on the fuel economy but seems very good.

Im thinking of getting this done on my 3008

    http://www.peugeot.ie/service-and-accessories/accessories/protection-accessories.html

    Paint Sealant

Designed to keep your paintwork as pristine as it was in the showroom, our Paint Sealant Products provides your car with an invisible protective barrier – with a high gloss finish.

It shields the paintwork against the elements, tree sap and pollution.

Paint sealant is professionally applied by trained technicians.

It means maintenance is easy – all you have to do is wash the car.

What ya think guys? 159 euro I was quoted

You could try asking in the detailing forum I'd imagine the advice would be that you'd be better off getting it done independently. If you're also thinking of going for the GAP insurance (I did) the dealership matched the quote I got here saving me 100 euro.

    Thanks for the helpful advice.

    Is it worth it?

I'm no expert but as far as I know a ceramic coating would be better - more expensive but much more durable. I think the advice is to book it into a detailer and to ask the dealership not to wash the car before you pick it up. Personally I didn't bother with any coatings - I just rinse with a pressure washer, snow foam, rinse, 2 bucket wash with grit guard and a good quality shampoo and mitt, rinse and dry with a microfibre towel. I used some Autoglym HD wax (expensive but a little goes a long way) when I first got the car and will probably reapply every 3 months or so.

I haven't estimated mpg yet but found this from a UK forum

Lots of other good I found on that forum.

For the 1.6 diesel 120 Auto

Short drives and town - at least 47mpg.
For 70 mph motorway on cruise control - 57-67mph depending on terrain and traffic, that's an average over 80 miles and other motorway/major A road cruising distance it's done. I suspect 70s possible if not going over hills.

Saw my first non-demo 3008 on the road this morning.

We passed in opposite directions in Whitehall, it was a Sunset Copper, so pretty much the spec I have ordered. No further word from the Dealer, but I am getting very excited now.

That was probably my wife on the way to Windsor Motors in Swords for the free lights and levels check up. Colour looks well in the sun.

Test drove the 1.6 Hdi (Allure) this morning in Clonee. Not bad without being blown away. Will need a second visit. Looking to buy the 1.2 petrol for herself. Asked about the 5008 and dealer said they won't be taking orders until Nov meaning a Feb/March delivery!

Where bouts in the country are you and how long have u been waiting? Has anyone ordered a 3008 with towbar? And if so have there been issue's getting one?

Drove a 1.2 the other day. Disappointing to say but apart from the digital instruments little seem to stand out. It annoys me that to have to adjust temperature a need to press a button, look to the screen, and then faff around, such a backward step in terms of ergonomics. The drive was much the same as evey other car in its class, the ride seemed a bit firm too. And this was on the base model with smaller wheels. Maybe I was expecting a bit much after the positive reviews.

So did the 1.2 engine disappoint or overall car? Have you been able to compare to any other engine?
The MPG seems fairly disappointing, from what I read which isn't a massive amount, but interestingly they are all quoting similar figures of approx. 35mpg.

Engine was smooth and refined, I'd take it over a diesel, just was underwhelmed by the car. It was not bad at all, but nothing really stood out.

    I was half thinking of looking at the 5008 1.2 GT Line Auto if fuel consumption was good enough. Going by this on the UK Forums, this may not be available. That spec has been removed from the 3008. I imagine it will be the same in Ireland;

Waiting times are very long in general. My allure was ordered the first week of April and I've been told the estimate time is now August sometime. I'd imagine the GT line would be even longer.
