Shur I’ve seen women walking behind men on Henry street I’m not surprised
And this is not the type of people we want here if they do not obey the law
Come here but intergrate and respect our laws we would do the same if we went to their country

    Current headline.

"Crowe flies high in South East clare"

Reading the live blog some of it is cringe worthy do they actually think they are funny ?

Not to mention that some of their reporters aren't bothering to list the candidates' vote hauls in numerical order. Jess Casey in Limerick East seems to be the only one getting that right.

    Infuriating.

“Dog crosses from Catherine St to O’Connell street” is a much more exciting story than this non event that has absolutely nothing to do with Limerick.

Well, you'll have a fair amount of eejits boozed up going on about "we" tonight. So they'll read the story....

Of what relevance is this to the people of Limerick, other than the Leader blowing their load over someone with any bit of a connection to the county.

Considering Billy Lee is attending the funeral of his own mother today, I think it's fair to say Donn could've held off for another day or two.

Opinion - 'It is easy to do the easy stuff' - Donn O'Sullivan

You obviously only looked at the headline, it goes on to say "it ain't easy do do the hard stuff with his class"

You obviously jumped to conclusions. I read it, just leave it out for a day or two is all.

Fair enough, I just read it as piece about how he handled everything that was going on with class.

Our new mayor sounds like a total clown.

He may have been attempting to crack a joke in what was his inaugural speech. Or maybe not.

Wouldn't it be great if we had something like a river, it's not quite a fountain but it's a bigger and better water feature to make a focal point. Knowing city council they'd knock Brown Thomas and make it into a parking lot/taxi rank.

Surprised all the Facebook comments weren't about replacing it with a 40 story homeless shelter/council housing.

811 out of 190,000 voted for him.

    What's the problem here,
Lee comes across as top notch from that very short article, maybe in a time of personal difficulty for him, it's nice to be acknowledged as doing a good job by those that judge.

Cyclists around Dooradoyle/Raheen seem to have nothing but disregard for lights, normal traffic rules and their own preservation - but a road sign is such a big deal. Forgive me if I couldn't give less of a **** about one of them whinging.

Not all cyclists sir! Same could be said for Motorists but this is actually a serious issue. One Cork Cyclist managed to get a motorist successfully convicted of dangerous driving by close passing. All cyclists want is equal status on the roads and we all know that will never be given and as a result would like segregated cycle lanes. This so called cycle lane on the St. Nessans Road is woeful at best and the sign should be moved into the lane beside, maybe then motorists will actually see it

He cycled around a bend and nearly came a cropper because he didn't see the warning sign in time - was he going too fast?

That's exactly the claim that would made against a driver if a driver was complaining about not seeing an obstacle in time.

That picture is just off the Ballykeefe roundabout and looks to be from a recent burst water main that happened a few weekends ago. I live very close to that and I did see that sign there - I can tell you there was more than enough distance to spot that before it became any sort of hazard. Ok the placement is pretty bad in the middle of the lane, but the only way you’d possibly hit that is being careless and flying it while not paying attention to the road.

Perhaps this guy is one of the brilliant cyclists I mentioned in my recent post.

What genius thought it was a clever idea to place the sign in the already awful cycle lane?! It doesn't take much brain power to work out that a safer solution would have been to place it between the cycle track and the much wider traffic lane. Or even on the kerb in the median. It's not difficult like!!:(

Well now, what would you expect him to do if there was traffic to his right? Just stop? That's hardly acceptable? Or would you just expect him to take his chance and get run over?

To be fair, that's what other vehicular traffic has to do when their lane is blocked, how it operates is even in the rules of the road.

But the issue is he shouldn't have to. I'm sure if it was in the middle of the road and someone crashed into it and it caused damage to their bumper they'd be making a claim. The only difference is they wouldn't be hurt by crashing into it unlike a cyclist.

If the obstacle was child on a trike going slower than him what would you expect the cyclist to do - crash into the kid?

All road users are expected to use as per RotR and travel at a safe speed - as far as I'm aware none of us can see around corners.

There are guidelines to when and where roadworks signage should be placed, cyclists are road users too and the signs apply to them as much as vehicular traffic.

I don't see why some folk are advocating moving the advance notification sign onto a lane of traffic. This would seem to me to be against best practice.

Ah yeah so what you're saying is that it's fine to completely block the cycle lane but placing the sign at the edge of the traffic lane is entirely unacceptable?

No I'm not and to clarify I haven't done a course on Roadworks signage but from experience it seems standard practice that the advance notification sign is placed on the immediate left of the road. If the road way is due to be hindered/blocked then additional signs are placed further out onto the carriageway.
