Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Love the Sainsbury's ad. Kind of sums up Christmas for a lot of people.

    Sainsbury's is a cute ad.

    Hi Chuckles...I thought the same.......LOL...

Me too! He's the spit of him! Is that the guy who plays Pete in Fair City??

Enjoyed the Sainsbury's ad but not my favourite of theirs.
The Macy's one (and Lidl) remind me of that heartbreaking advert from last year where the family only returned home because they thought the old man was dead.
M&S, Lidl and Aldi still winning for me this year! :D

Yes - the Marks & Spencer one had me in tears - I've watched it over and over - the red helicopter -- she is M out of James Bond, in a red dress :-)
i want her Mrs Claus outfit for Christmas!

The Sainsbury ad was very cheesy and felt like it was trying to hard.

Quality street have an ad this year.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on the Sainsbury's ad. It's like a boring kids cartoon.

I like the Asda series. .

I love the Asda ones! Just simple and funny.

Yes, that's him - but would Macy's really have hired him for a head shot?

Very disappointed with the John Lewis ad this year. So many things wrong with it. Music usually brillant not this year

Respectfully disagree. The ad itself isn't pitch perfect but the vocal on that supporting track is flawless.

Just realised I hadn't seen the Sainsbury's ad so watched it there.
I liked it, but it did feel a bit twee. Definitely trying too hard- even down to the multi-ethnic family. And it did go on for a while!

I did like the train being delayed by a snowflake and the "queue for a queue"... definitely representative of real life! :D

Edit: I do however, agree with the sentiment that spending time together is what Christmas should be all about, not running ourselves ragged. It just felt a little forced.

The sainsburys one I'd definitely put in the 'Trying too hard' category...

Anyone hear when we're going to see the new Guinness one (that's replacing my all time favourite crimbo advert... :-( )

I got all teary watching it.
And although it is not Christmassy as such, it has a beautiful message that just reminds you what it's all about.

Also, I need to brush up on my Spanish. 😄

This one came out of nowhere, the Heathrow Xmas ad.

Bah it was posted last night!

The girl was played by twins, Alexandra and Holly Stapely. Holly is a nurse in Ontario and Alex is a customer service representative with Nissan. SOURCE

Very reminiscent of The Grand Budapest Hotel which I adore...love it!

Saw it last night, and despite being a Wes Anderson fan it didn't really do much for me... thought it could have been better.

Though I'm starting to think, as I get older the adverts simply aren't as good as they used to be, they're being over thought or are too restricted by the PC brigade to resemble my idea of a christmas advert... I must have a hankering for nostalgia or something... most of the new stuff simply doesn't match the memories of youth.

I'm just thankful the old An Post, Kelloggs, Budwiser and Coca-Cola ads can be found on Youtube, I must make a playlist of them all. You are right the old ads will never be beaten.

    Macy's Christmas Advert 2016 - #OldFriends
I just seen this yesterday- don't know how I missed it!!

    What a lovely ad. :)
And nice and Christmassy, which so many this year are lacking.

Is that the Glenroe priest in the Macy's advert?
