The morning show is a calamity. They obviously want to take on rte /today fm and the sad thing is they were on the right track before all the messing

Conor and Marty actually had a good thing going where it didn't feel so false as the current show. And I use the term "show" loosely. It's an abomination.

RTÉ failed miserabley at the breakfast show and nova are carbon copying them

Meanwhile on Dublin City FM this week's featured artist is Richard Ashcroft/the Verve. Bit better listening to that than to Hayes and Kennedy's over inflated egos trying to fill up the morning show on Nova.

Yes, Virgin Media /UPC used to have Planet Rock along with a number of other stations. Most of the U.K. ones were dropped and we were left with the RTE digital stations, BBC digital stations, the Dublin stations, the national stations, 4FM, Galway Bay FM and a couple of religiously-oriented stations! I think it might have been for financial reasons. I remember hearing Rick Wakeman and Alice Cooper on Planet Rock. Both surfaced on Radio Nova!

I could take or leave Marty and Conor. They weren't my favourite presenters on the station, but I didn't dislike them and I'd sometimes listen to them on my morning commute. However, despite their shortcomings, they were vastly superior to Colm and Lucy. I tried to give them a chance, but I quickly grew irritated with their hackneyed double act

Dee and Marty were better; as soon as they split up Marty was on his way out of the breakfast show.

Hmm, I don't know, Mikey. Personally, I always found both of them worked better alone. But hey, each to their own.

Think they were split when Dee got pregnant so there'd be less hassle when the baby was born - split shifts etc

4.20am Nova played One by Metallica. Why the hell don't we get stuff like that during the day?

A post from a visitor to their Facebook page this morning (soon to be deleted no doubt):

'Okay - there's the Kanye & Kim coverage on the Colm and Lucy shoe. Gag me with a rusty spoon. More suitable for shiny happy TV3 demographics. I thought this was rock n roll. I'm gone. I'll listen to other slots, but no more Nova breakfasts for me.'

It's probably only a matter of time before they actually play Kanye West on Nova >:-(

In the interests of giving them a fair go (And because i cant get the Planet rock app to work for me) i tuned in this morning. NOPE! Just no.

So i'm now on Q102 for breakfast. Have to say though, apart from an Adele incident, there was no inane sleb gossip and some not bad ish tunes. Might try Dublin city next. Seems to be a few listening there.

Lucy read out a text this morning "kanye west ?? stop waffling and play some music"
    :)

I distinctly remember the breakfast show had a an ad saying it was a celeb free zone.

I'd say they'll delete it before it gets a chance to gain too much traction, Guile.

I've been ignorant to the recent reshuffle, but can someone explain why they got rid of the two gimps in the morning and replaced them with a pair of even bigger gimps? Ratings?

Colm Hayes is now the Programme Director and it looks like he has decided to take a giant leap forward in the dilution process of an already hopelessly watered down 'rock' station. If the past week is anything to go by, celebrity gossip and interminable waffle are now the standard criterion for your Nova Breakfast show. One may argue 'But Conor and Marty waffled' and they'd be right, but no, not like this other pair. Who knows what way the ratings will go. They're clearly trying to appeal to a wider, mainstream audience. But in doing that they may lose a lot of long term listeners who initially took to Nova to escape from what Colm and Lucy are now selling.

New post on facebook about how Nova is up 3000 daily listeners. Typical deflection by KB on the breakfast show fiasco.

Yeah, I saw that. One poster pointed out that the JNLR figures on which those numbers are based only covered up until March 2018. Therefore, the Colm and Lucy Show had no part in acquiring said listeners. Guess what, the comment was removed.
