I don't have to listen to all the U2 crap today - the Web player app isn't working! Just getting the same 30 seconds of Celebrate for the last few hours.

Listened to about 80 minutes of Nova last night before bed. Tony Ainscough played some Don Henley to celebrate his birthday, as well as a bit of Irish Tour-era Rory Gallagher and some Tesla. Also heard Davin O'Callaghan for the first time, he played Elvis Costello and Supertramp's Breakfast in America.

Was he not on Nova before, doing fill-ins and so on?

He left Nova in 2015 for FM104 and this is his first show on Nova since leaving 104.

I'm sure she is a lovely person but the girl with the really really strong Queensland Ozzie accent just seems to be on 24/7?
Does she pre record items too?
I find her hard to listen to after my 24th time hearing her in one week.

He used to do Saturday night show on Nova before moving to fm104 - little music knowledge I can detect . Stadium announcer at Aviva

It's the lack of music knowledge of a lot of their younger presenters and their disinterest in rock is incredible . Wake up Nova

I'm younger than any of the Nova presenters and my knowledge of rock knows hardly any bounds. From what I know Steve was on several pirates as a teenager, including a dance one called NRG, in which Nova CEO Kevin Branigan was involved as well.

Strange switch just happened. Sound and Vision by David Bowie started just before 5am. When the time changed to 5, the song jumped to Pulling Muscles From A Shell by Squeeze. Might be a planning thing to have everything ready to start live at 6 exactly.

There was another chap that used to be on Saturday nights for a while before ALice Cooper and he fills in the odd time for the breakfast show at bank holidays and Xmas called Mark Taafe ! Think he was on NRG as well I would ask for Declan A Walsh to confirm same !

Stand by for a weekend of Underworld club classics brought to you by Mark McCabe the Maniac himself on Dublin's only Rock Station - NOVA !:):):):):):)

Yesterday morning those two utter Muppets that present the breakfast show were extolling the virtues of Harry Styles. Just about the nadir for the sh1tness of that show.

I can't deal with those two, they think they are hilarious.

    I miss TXFM!

He was on in what is now Alice Cooper's slot.

Mark was on SPIN 1038 recently providing a 20 minute mix set for House Party with Martin Guilfoyle. I haven't heard him on Nova in ages.

Rose-tinted glasses there Kamili. Have you forgotten the crime against humanity that was the Joe & Keith Breakfast Show?

(that may have been Phantom rather than TXFM, but it was AWFUL)

Yes, both Steve McQuarrie and Mark Taafe were both with Energy FM this decade! Steve was involved with a number of dance pirates, but I don't know as much about Mark. I did hear that he was the station manager of Energy.

I don't think Keven Branigan was involved with Energy!! He had well left the pirate scene before Nova started! Maybe you are thinking of Pulse FM in the mid '90s.

Siobhan McDonnell has tweeted she's in for Conor Irwin this week. Who himself is keeping Dee's seat warm until they get a new host for her slot.

So Dee is leaving? Wonder what will happen morning glory, are they intending to keep that thing going?

I've had to switch it off in the mornings, just can't listen to it.

Mark Taafe was on Kiss103 - Kevin Branigan was behind Kiss, Kiss later applied for a licence but got knocked out early on in the process.

Pulse and Energy were closely linked.

When was Kiss on the air? Both Steve and Mark are in their late 20s/early 30s so I'd imagine they wouldn't have been that old when they were on the pirates.
